This is the perfect little black sweater that you will reach for over and over as your perfect basic, yet sexy little black top. It is made from a tightly woven knit that has a touch of elastic in it that gives it a "bandage" feel. This type of knit also give you some support if you choose to go bare underneath. Designed with a high, scooped neck and simple cut that clings to the body like a second skin. On each side it has gathers that give it a sift draped effect across the midriff and that perfect nineties feel. A keyhole back shows a little extra skin. Excellent condition.

This stunning Yves Saint Laurent top clearly illustrates his love and fascination with all things gypsy, bohemian and peasant in feel. Made of a semi-transparent silk chiffon that is shot through with fine black lurex thread that runs through the entire fabric and gives it a fantastic metallic glint. The semi sheerness combined with loose and easy cut are a signature Yves nod to sexiness - the top drapes perfectly in place and highlights everything while showing nothing - it is genius. The sleeves are incredible - each is very full above the buttoned cuff so they puff out fantastically. The cut through the body is also full and loose, making it very easy to wear. I love the silk braided cord tassels that tie at the neck and the small ruffle collar that adds the perfect amount of detailing. It is an amazing and dramatic! I did find a photo of it taken in 1977 - see the last picture here. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

This beautiful and elaborate blouse was produced by Yves Saint Laurent and is a true treasure. The top is amazing and a classic Yves Saint Laurent cut and silhouette. It is made of a light cotton that has a subtle linear pattern woven through the fabric that is just slightly trasnparent. It feels stupendous on - light and easy but with enough structure that it maintains its shape and formal feel. I love this mix of the formal cut with the not formal fabric - typical YSL genius. The top is cut to be slightly fitted and the sleeves slightly voluminous above their pretty ruffled cuffs. The shoulders are gathered at the top with a slight, refined cap, an almost "dandy" feel, and I love the play on the tuxedo shirt that it has with the curved panels of ruffles that run down the front and up and around the neck. An attached tie in a matching fabric only adds to the magnificence. It is truly a brilliant piece that is endlessly versatile. A masterpiece. In excellent condition.

This is one of those amazing little pieces you can only find with vintage. These were all the rage during the seventies and you find them in varying degrees of quality. This is one of the very well done and far more elaborate then most with yards of fabric and a very dramatic silhouette and cut. All the sequin work is hand done and it quite fabulous once on. The black silk chiffon base is entirely covered in glossy white and black sequins mixed and edged with gold seed beads. The design on the front and back is of a butterfly and the shape is cut to follow this design. It just slips over the head with slits at the side to slip your arm through and adds an instant bit of glitz and glamour to anything. The loose and open sides allow it to fit anyone and top anything. The camera does not quite pick up the drama of this piece- it is even better in person. Excellent condition.

This is an interesting little label - the designer, Gunn Trigere was actually a jewellery designer who met and married Robert Trigere who was Pauline Trigere's partner. After their marriage she had a short lived label of her own of which this set is from. I absolutely adore this little silver knit set and  its use of a lurex thread knit fabric gives it a little extra pop of drama even though the cut is kept simple and chic. The fabric is amazing - it is a super light weight knit in a silver threading to give it a metallic glint from shoulder to hem. The top has a high, wide cut neck edged with ribbing that is picked up at the waist and cuffs. There is a more open chain weave through the fabric of the top that runs down in stripes. The  skirt flares out gently to just past the knee. The knot is very light and fine. Love the versatility of being able to wear them together or as separates. Excellent condition

The top is unlined and the skirt fully lined with a black nylon jersey. The top slips over the head to wear and the skirt closes with a back nylon & metal zipper.

This red pleated silk Lanvin skirt is utterly fantastic. I am in absolute love with it - the color, the design, the workmanship - everything about it is perfection. Pieces with this label are rare and the beauty of this particular pieces really makes it a once in a lifetime find. The fabric is a fine silk crepe in a stunning shade of red. Through the main portion of the skirt it has been box pleated which gives it a long and lean line when you are standing still but allows for a tremendous amount of volume and movement. These gradually open until the are held apart at the bottom by the wide expanse of silk brocade at the bottom hem. The silk brocade that creates the high shaped waist and circles the lower hem is wonderful. Ribbons of fine brocade are laid out with gold bands between each layer. The beauty of the color combination is equaled by the fine workmanship that has gone into constructing it. I love the high set waist band that acts as both the perfect balance to the length and intricacy of the skirt and also like a corset to cinch and define the waist line. It is really a work of art and having the demi-couture tag makes it that much more special. Excellent, museum quality condition.

This wonderful 1950s printed circle skirt has a bright and unusual owl design that runs over its surface complete with a starry sky and forest. It is so unusual to find a print like this and those girls who love and collect these will squeal with delight to see this one. The skirt itself is made from a black cotton base with a print design done in bright hues running over and around the entire skirt. The waist is defined with a narrow band to cinch on the shape and the skirt has a tremendous amount of fabric. It is beautifully done and you just cannot beat that unique owl print. This look was one of the cornerstones to the famous "Russian peasant" Haute Couture collections with its banded and fitted upper hip and flowing skirt. This is from the Rive Gauche line so would have been produced for the fall season just after the Couture show and it is glorious. The red is a mix of wool with just a touch of angora that gives it a bit of a texture while still allowing the fabric to be light and fine. The band around the hip that perfectly balances the volume of the lower skirt is done in a black velvet that acts as an anchor and gives the illusion of slimness and shape as it curves up to the waist. It falls in a long and lean column when still but there is a volume there that will show when you move or walk. These were worn with his signature voluminous tops and colors were mixed with riotous abandon. The Russian collection is one that is constantly referenced and looked back upon as one of his greatest achievements and having a skirt like this in your collection will be a coup. It still feels insanely fresh and modern with endless styling possibilities. Excellent condition.

This is a gorgeous little black Prada top is in perfect, like new, condition and like much of Miuccia's time defying work, feels fresh and "this season" still. The details on it are amazing. It is made of a black stretch cotton mix fabric that is very comfortable when on and a staple fabric used by Prada. I love the little rounded cap sleeves and the neat collar that carries the detail of the bodice up and into it. I call it the "knot" top because all through the upper bodice are little gathered bits of fabric that give the suggestion of knotted fabric. It buttons down the front and is a great little basic with not-so-basic details. Based on my client's memory, we believe this is also from the 2007 season but was not a piece shown on the runway. A really beautiful top that will become a mainstay of your wardrobe. Excellent condition.

This wonderful little cardigan is a true find. It is in fantastic shape and has beautiful detailing. You often see these with a bit of front beading on them or some other type of decoration but this one has both a pretty and soft fur collar and stunning panels of embroidered silk ribbon. The ribbon depicts fantastical scenes and I feel that it may be from an earlier era - the workmanship and detailing are too fine for even the fifties. Parts of the horse design are even padded at the back to give the design a 3D element. I love the classic fifties styling with its cropped cut and loose fit through the body. The knit feels like a high grade wool and cashmere mix and it is even lined in a fine silk chiffon as well. It is such a charming piece and a great way to work a fabulous piece of the past into your wardrobe. Excellent condition

Fully lined in a taupe silk that is hand placed with a wide grosgrain ribbon to finish the back panel , and interior sleeve ends. It closes at the front with hidden set hook and eye. The collar is in excellent condition and its only flaw is a slight discoloration to the interior lining near the upper back - which of course does not show when on.

The reveiew for the Prada show for Spring 2007 on Vogue.com noted the sharp cahnge in direction from earlier season. In that review Miucci said of her reasoning for this and inspirations:

"Because Prada felt like it. "I just wanted it to be about fashion," she shrugged backstage. "The importance of fashion." Still, this collection held an image of a powerful woman at its center, filtered through unmistakable references to Yves Saint Laurent (his "forties" collection from the seventies; a touch Loulou de la Falaise, to be precise). These were not random choices; in fact, they are two of the underlying constants in Prada's work. One thing she despises, though, is the over-interpretation of her motives; instinct and spontaneity guide her just as much as intellectual reasoning. She laughed at one journalist's anxious questioning about the short pieces, saying, "I just didn't like anything I did below the waist." Meaning, "Don't panic, these are tops." And, like everything else in this richly provocative show, they're going to look totally wearable in a store come spring."

And it is still completely wearable. This top was one of the key looks and silhouettes of the opening of this show. It is done in a glossy satin that I cannot quite decide if the color is a deep inky midnight blue or simple a black with a blue undertone. It reacts differently with a change of light. The bodice gathers into the neckline and a tiny ruffle sits along the seam that is too high to be called a waist seam and yet too low to give it a true empire shape. There is something of the forties to be sure but its a saucy modern interpretation. Quite wonderful. Excellent condition

I think one of my favorite vintage pieces is a full length velvet maxi skirt. It is such an easy way to mix in with a modern wardrobe. You can throw them on with just about anything topping them and it works. The prints are so vibrant and bright that they act like a neutral and they work as well with flats as they do with a heel. The velvet captures the depth of color like no other fabric so when you luck into a brilliant jewel tone version like this one its hard to pass up. Here we have a stunning version done  by the Mr. Dino label, in a baroque feeling print in white and grays on a brilliant jewel dress. The cut is a sculptural A-line that falls to the floor in a graceful sweep of fabric. The velvet gives it enough weight to hold that form fantastically. These can really be worn year round as the velvet is a cotton version so breathes well. I love it. Excellent condition

I love this beautiful deep green silk blouse by Yves Saint Laurent. It is really quite fabulous and with that deep green coloring it will be one of those basics you keep wearing over and over. It is completely cut on the bias which gives it a fantastic fit and makes it feel sensual and decadent when on. The double tie at the neck is a classic Yves Saint Laurent touch and I love the neat little collar and deep V front. Each cuff buttons at the wrist so you get a bit of a pouf on the sleeve above. It is made of a gorgeous light weight, fine grade silk with a stripe on stripe pattern woven through. A classic. Excellent condition.

It is such a fun piece and will add an instant dash of glamour to any outfit. You just slip it on and all those glorious sequins and that fringe just fall perfectly into place. Love the cord that runs through the neckline - this allows you to leave it loose off the shoulder or cinch it in for a more true neckline. The sequins are glossy and shimmer int he light and the fringe adds movement. Excellent condition

This is the vintage fur everyone looks for - that simple box cut to the hip red fox that every "It girl" of the seventies wore. It has a strong nod to the 40s in is cut - typical of this era - and fits perfectly once on without overwhelming the body. The shoulders are strong but cut slim so are very flattering and it has an almost swing jacket cut to it. I love how the pelts run horizontally across the sleeves and vertically through the body. Suede insets run between the rings on the sleeve and vertically through the front and back with thicker panels down the sides of the jacket and inside of each sleeve. Excellent condition with minimum wear to the pelts.

Fully lined in a taupe silky rayon. Closes with fur hooks at the front. Hidden pickets at the front. I has been specialty cleaned. Perhaps the teeniest of wear near on the ring of fur near the elbows and at the from lower middle (see photo) but nothing that mars or detracts.

Chanel is having a red hot fashion moment right now and even though this top is from the late eighties it actually feels fresh and relevant now. The top is cut almost like one of their classic jackets and has a bit of a flapper - twenties feel to it. It buttons in a double row down the front with gold toned metal buttons that each have those famous double C's embossed onto them. Very well made as one would expect and very Chanel. Excellent condition

Haute Couture is the very pinnacle of the fashion experience and I would hazard to say that vintage versions are even a little more special then modern ones. This piece comes direct from the daughter of the original Haute Couture client so has not been on the market prior to this.

The top is amazing and a classic Yves Saint Laurent cut and silhouette. It is entirely done by hand and the silk is of the highest possible grade. It feels stupendous on. The top is loose fitting and the sleeves slightly voluminous above their deep French cuffs. The shoulders are gathered with a slight, refined cap and I love the play on the tuxedo short through the panels of fabric that run down the front and hide the buttons. It is truly a brilliant piece that when you see it in person you will be astounded at the level of craftsmanship and care put into the construction. A masterpiece. In excellent, museum quality condition.

Unlined with all interior seams hand finished. It closes with hand set, hidden buttons at the front. Small padding in each shoulder. French cuffs, however they do not have the buttons. My client recalls her mother wearing these with jeweled cuffs and we suspect she ordered it without buttons since she wore her own jeweled version. I love this beautiful off white silk blouse by Yves Saint Laurent. It is really quite fabulous and has an amazing print and texture that is woven through the silk and has an almost snakeskin pattern. It is also cut on the bias so moves and drapes perfectly once on the body. Really fabulous. The tie at the neck is classic Yves. Each cuff buttons at the wrist so you get a bit of a pouf on the sleeve above. It is made of a gorgeous light weight, fine grade silk. This is the second time I have been able to source this version of this Hermes sweater and it is still a favorite. These can be very hard to find as they are treasured by collectors and an easy way to add some vintage luxury into a modern wardrobe. The sweater is made of a combination of a light, high end wool and the iconic Hermes silk twill on the front. The front panel is instantly recognizable as being Hermes with its bright equestrian "Les Tambours" design by Joachim Metz. The knit portion of the sweater is a deep navy and is very fine and soft, high end wool. Skinny sleeves and an easy cut through the body make it the perfect, versatile topper. It is stunning. Gorgeous and absolutely huge, this Yves Saint Laurent scarf is a mix of a deep burgundy red with taupes and with pops of silvered grey to highlight the fantastic plaid design. It is made of a fine silk and wool mix that is extremely light and pliable - it is the same weight and feel as a fine Hermes piece. Hand fringed edges and its super light weight and size allows you to wear and style it tons of ways. Excellent condition and freshly cleaned

The YSL logo is screened direct onto the silk and it is tagged as well

The fabric on this coat is amazing. The gold thread used is a real metallic thread and it is woven through the black base with different weaves to create the most wonderful effect and allow the rose pattern to feel like it is raised off the fabric. The thread used gives the exterior the feel of those real lame dresses from the twenties and this is obviously a high end fabric. Everything about this coat screams high end designer but sadly it was found without any labels at all so I think the girl that snatches it up is really getting a bargain. The cut is very structural with the Dior 'New Look" feel. I love the huge shawl collar and nipped in waist. Below this the skirt flares out dramatically with the volume required to top the full skirted cocktail dresses of this era. The fabric is a good solid weight - not so heavy that it is unwieldy to wear, but enough of a weight that when it is on the body, the shape you see is held perfectly. Each sleeve is cut on the wider side and it wraps and closes across the front. It is just spectacular and the simplicity of the cut only further highlights the drama of that rich, bold fabric. Even better in person. Excellent condition.

Note that this does come with a belt - when we received the coat the buckle was broken and photoed it without in case it was not fixable - but we have had it repaired and its is as good as new. We have added a photo and it will ship with the coat when purchased.

Intricately inter-lined in black silk and it closes with hidden fabric covered snaps at the front. The very occasional broken metal thread (the worst of which I photoed) but this is extremely minor and does not detract or mar the wearabilty.

This little fitted black skirt is made from a black wool crepe fabric that has a touch of stretch so it is very comfortable on. It is made entirely of perfectly spaced vertical pleats that are closed to hug down and around the hip area and then open as they near the bottom to create a sexy little swing feel. So chic! Inspired by the "10-for-1 chic" of the Parisian discount store, Tati, and its gingham striped awning the fall 1991 collection has become one of Alaia's most iconic and coveted for that instantly recognizable print. Though it was mainly used on clothing for the collection it did make its way on a few select accessories including this canvas duffel, overnight bag. The print is bold and has Tati in bright blue across its front. We did find a photo reference and believe this to be from French Vogue.

Unlined with an inner slip pocket. It has been used and loved and does shows some slight fading and scuffiness but is freshly cleaned and an iconic piece of Alaia history.

The wide Alaia corset belt in butter soft black leather is a closet staple for any woman who loves fashion. Nothing gives you that hour glass figure like buckling on over whatever you are wearing. Its an instant statement piece. This recent example has never been worn and still has its original tag. The original retail price on this was $3200 so it's steal at this price. Using one of his designs to make a wide and dramatic pattern. It is backed in butter soft leather and buckles to close with three buckle straps. Stamped on the back.

The lines on this 1992 "corset" influenced jacket are amazing and just what you would expect form the master that is Alaia. Versions of this jacket were featured prominently both in the Alaia exhibit at the Groninger Museum and accompanying book 'Alaia- Azzedine Alaia in the 21st Century,'

. The corset effect created solely through the seaming on the jacket right down tot he molded and padded cups of the bust. These are literally seamed and cut like bra cups and then incorporated into the design - unfortunately the photos do not do the work and molding effect justice. On either side of the buttons that run down the front is meticulous seaming that mimics corset strings. Below this the pockets are cut with a beautiful curved and rounded line. Of course the waist nips in and the back is cut to flare out and give that bit of a saucy shape at the back Alaia is known for. Far better on a real girl then how it photoed on my mannequin. Excellent condition

This little Azzedine Alaia piece that is from one of his more recent collections, is the perfect little black sweater that you will find yourself wearing over and over again. It is made from a thin, light knit that has a bit of stretch so that once on seems to hug your curves while not being super fitted. It is cut to skim over the body with long sleeves that are each finished with fine ribbed cuffs. A fine ribbing also finishes the waist. The plunge is deep and sexy without showing too much - just that perfect balance of sexy and hidden that Alaia has. Excellent condition.

The spring 1991 collection was lighter and more colorful then the typical black-centric collection from Azzedine. It was a lighter more girl-next-door version of the renowned and often overt sexuality that runs through every collection. Alaia body suits should hold a place in every girls closet when it comes to building your vintage collection. There is nothing else quite like them. They are so sexy and he cuts them perfectly. This particular one is made of a sleek knit done in a dusty, deep pink with deeper pink colored dots worked into and throughout the fabric. It is scooped low at the front neck, cut high on the leg and sexy as hell. I especially love the crossed straps and off shoulder "sleeve". A very collectible and early example of his work. Presents as great condition

The spring 1991 collection was lighter and more colorful then the typical black-centric collection from Azzedine. This wonderful 1950s hand painted circle skirt has a bright and pretty abstract floral design that runs over its entire surface. The skirt is on a white cotton base with a swooping deigns that suggest bog bold blooms and leafs over the entire skirt. The waist is defined with a narrow band to cinch on the shape and the skirt has a tremendous amount of fabric. It is all hand painted and beautifully done. It has the older, original Spiegel label in it which suggests to me that the company imported it in to catch the fever of the 1950s tourist market when these were all the rage. A very unusual piece and highly collectible too. Excellent condition

A spectacular 1950s hand painted Mexican circle skirt by the brand Artegreen, which was one of the more prominent labels producing skirts in the 1950s. The skirt has the most amazing scene that circles the entire skirt. The hand painted design depict a festival of some sort in full swing - girls in full costumes dance their way around the skirt to the music of painted musicians. Palm trees sway in the background and villagers sits at a table nearby. The scenes are then highlighted with hand placed and sewn translucent gold sequins. A very unusual piece and highly collectible. Excellent condition

This spectacular 1950s hand painted tourist circle skirt has a fabulous scene of fishing boats along a harbor that circles the entire skirt. It is made from that crisp fifties cotton with a fitted waist and knife pleats circling the waist that open up to give it the volume you see here. It is entirely hand painted through out and the colors are still vibrant and true. There is a ton of fabric in there - this is a true full fifties skirt. A very unusual piece and highly collectible too - these truly are works of art and I have never seen one like this before. Excellent condition.

Alice Pollock was one of the great British designers and the founder of the Quorum label who partnered with, and it could be said discovered, Ossie Clark and Celia Birwell. They designed the clothing that filled the shop from 1965 - 1973. This top was surely designed by or heavily influence by Ossie and Celia as the print is similar to some later Ossie pieces. It is made from a weightless silk crepe that has alternating squares of print in a pink and deeper burgundy on a pale pink backdrop. It has a small neat collar with an elaborate silk tie. The sleeves are exceptional and cut with an extreme billow and fullness above each cuff. Presents as excellent condition but is flawed so please review condition report below.

Unlined and buttons to close down the front with a panel of fabric hiding the buttons. There are two areas of thinning and small tearing to the silk at spots across the upper shoulder on one side and at the top of the sleeve- please super-size the photo to see. Priced accordingly but also with its rareness in mind.

From the runway these are early 2000 Marni boots. They are made of a silk satin and feel surprisingly fresh again with the plethora of thigh high boots coming for the fall season. They go quite high up to mid to upper thigh and I love the texture of the silk satin. The heel is flattering but still low enough to make them very comfortable too. Unworn and in excellent condition.

This authentic and early vintage version of the Louis Vuitton Speedy Monogram Canvas 30 mini-duffle is a timeless classic from the house. It is styled after the larger Keepall duffle and is in the iconic monogram canvas print.

Cowhide leather trims, piping and rolled handles. Top zip closure.  the leather shows darkening and patina from use. Original lock but no key. Minor scuffing to piping. Interior clean with one mark at the bottom of the bag. In as found condition but clean and still tons of life left. This is pre-authenticity codes but is absolutely the real thing.

From the Resort 2011 runway these are one of the most coveted and hard to find Chanel thigh high boots out there. They are quintessentially Chanel. They are flat with the very minimal amount of heel and a black toe cap. Made of a stretch fabric in cream for the perfect contrast to the black toe. The go well up the leg to mid-upper thigh. Down each side is an open slit that is caught up with the house's signature Camilla flowers with a little gold Chanel logo adorning the top one on each boot. I have included the runway shot of the boot and it was featured in Vogue and many other editorials at the time.

This one has a lovely frame clasp with a clever sliding clasp opening. The chain is linked and the frame and chain are made from what I believe to be a very early plastic. Excellent condition

Moschino pieces are always slightly insane in the way that only they can be and this jacket from the late 80s, early 90s is no exception. It is cut motorcycle style and the looks like a female version of a jacket you would borrow (and then steal) from your boyfriend. It has a large zipper set off side down the front with zipped and flapped pockets on each side. That brilliant blue patent color of the jacket where it goes from the biker to the runway. It's true bright blue and quite fabulous. It is the perfect topper for jeans to a ballgown. Made of a light, soft and pliable faux patent leather. Excellent condition

Courreges did these amazing little faux leather jackets made from vinyl in the 1960s and then the company re-issued them in the early 80s. This is one of the much rarer originals in one of the best and most coveted of the colors - the brilliant orange! The cut is a play on the classic denim jacket. The faux vinyl leather would have been the very forefront in cutting edge textiles at the time and the use of it is an important milestone in both fashion history and in the career of Andres Courreges. It is striking and still chic and fashion forward. The house's signature white snaps close the front and the original Courreges logo sits on the left side. A great iconic piece that is highly collectible. It is in absolutely mint condition too which is really unusual as these tended to be worn to death. Excellent condition and appears to have never been worn.

Lined with the correct logo embossed matching orange rayon lining that snaps out for cleaning. The jacket closes at the front and cuffs with press snaps. I see no signs of cracking to the vinyl and it looks to have not been worn. Tagged a size 0

Delicate & feminine but with a bold and fabulous print is what I think when I look at this fabulous little chiffon jacket by Hanae Mori. It is made from a feather light chiffon that has one of her fantastic scenic prints screened onto it. The shape is simple and easy to wear - straight through the body with no closures except for a tie at the neck.. The designs is a beautiful garden of bright blooms and cranes that fly amongst them. Perfect to layer over other peices and could work well from day to night. Excellent condition

I think this is the best little evening I have ever seen! It is Yves Saint Laurent and has a small, neat brim under a high top. It is made of a very light woven straw and that was then covered completely by hand in glossy rows of sequins - black for the top portion and into the rim and then the rim is finished with bands of silver and then copper sequins. I love it. Signature Blue ribbon inside. Trust me - you will wear this one to death! Excellent condition
