• Mary McFadden patented her Fortuny inspired pleating technique just a couple of years after launching her label in 1973.
• By the eighties she had many licensing agreements and her dresses were being made on a larger scale. Mary was known to say frequently that there was no greater beauty than pleated cloth on the human body and she said then when she developed her 'marii' fabric her aim was to have it 'fall like liquid gold on the body, like Chinese silk.' 
• Once on this looks like a true dress but it is actually a separate top and skirt. I love that because it means that you can mix and match the pieces with other things you already own.
• Both pieces are made from a beautiful green silk feeling synthetic that has been pleated in McFadden's signature pleating technique.
  
• The top slips over the head to wear and is cut in an easy one shoulder silhouette. Is cut wide and open through the body and then you use the matching belt to cinch it in around you. The hem of the top is set on an angle and I love the effect this creates once it is layered over the skirt.
• The skirt falls to the floor from the elastic waist and I love how the bottom hem has a slightly ruffled feel. This picks up on the same slightly ruffled feel of the hem of the top.
• I also love that the skirt is cut very long which is a rare thing to find in her work. As she progressed in her career she preferred to design pieces that ended at the ankle so you could see the shoe underneath so the full length pieces are a bit rarer.
• The set comes with its original extra extra long braided belt that was another of Mary's signatures. This one is spectacular with a thick braided finish and long dangling ends. These are really what gave her pieces such impact.
• Both pieces are unlined and slip on to wear. The waist has elastic so is an easy fit. The belt is original to the dress and is just over eleven and a half feet long.
• Tagged a vintage McFadden Medium. The cut is loose and easy but could still be worn on a smaller frame because of the belt that you can cinch the top in with. The fabric has a lot of stretch.

• The twin of the dress walk the Spring 1974 runway. We have included a photo for you and a photo of another dress in the same fabric just because it is interesting to see that he loved this fabric so much that he used it for more than one piece.
• Made under the creative direction of Jules-Francois Crahay 
• Jules-Francois headed the Lanvin ateliers from 1964-1984. He has been noted as one of fashion’s 'great colorists with his colorful patterns making his 1970s Lanvin designs hugely desirable and influential.' His time at the Lanvin label is one of my personal favourites for the house.
  
• The dress would have been completely made by hand in the Paris Atelier
• The fabric is a feather light silk gazaar that is phenomenal. It is covered in a mint green and white floral print that covers the dress from head to toe. I think it would be impossible to wear this dress and not feel joyful.
• The dress has an inner more fitted piece that angles down from the wide strap of the shoulder. It is shaped over the bust and the waist is nipped in.
• The skirt falls from there and flares out quite substantially around you.
• A panel of silk is attached all the way around the neckline and then falls freely over the inner dress. It is split open all along one side and fall on the other from your shoulder down to the hem.
• Because of the lightness of the fabric your slightest movement causes it to move and billow around you. It is phenomenal.
• Inside everything has been done by hand to Couture standards including all of the hems which have been hand rolled.
• It is lined through the bodice in an ivory silk chiffon and the skirt is lined in ivory silky feeling fabric. It closes at the side with a zipper.
• There are no size tags so please go by the listed measurements below.

• The pair behind the La Mendola label met in Rome in 1960 and started their business making dresses and selling them one by one, piece by piece. In 1967 they opened a shop. They soon had a Hollywood following and mega stars like Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth become regular clients who were buying and even wait-listing for pieces as they were produced. They made all of the pieces in their ateliers and designed their own prints. Clients would be sent swatches of the season's available prints and then they would place their orders. They were highly sought after by the jet set crowd. Their pieces travelled extremely well and the colours they used were beautiful. Their atelier closed in 1974.
• In the past I had one of their dresses come into the shop and the original owner of that dress had kept the fabric swatch options for the 1972 season along with her correspondence with the atelier. They named all of their prints. I kept a digital copy of it which I have added here and it is very similar to the green turquoise print in those swatches.
• The fabric that they used for their pieces were very high end chiffons and jerseys and this dress is made from one of those silk jerseys combined with a hand beaded silk chiffon.
• These fabrics were prized for their ability to take colour and print and the jumpsuit is as bright and vibrant as when it was first made. 
• This was almost certainly a custom piece and is most likely a one-of-a-kind.
• The green and blues used in the print are gorgeous and it is even better in person then how it photoed.
• At first glance you appear to be wearing a dress but it does actually have a jumpsuit underneath that top overlay.
• Everything falls from one shoulder which leaves the other shoulder bare. There is a long sleeve on one side and the sleeve is made out of a silk chiffon. The entire sleeve is been hand covered in beads.
• The overlay is attached around the neck and has an opening for the sleeve to come out of and then it falls over the inner jumpsuit all the way to the floor. It is split on both sides so that when you walk you really see the legs of the jumpsuit underneath.
• The overlay is made out of two layers of silk chiffon printed in the same fabric as the rest of the piece and then the outer layer is completely hand beaded. The beading is dense and covers the entire overlay. It would be astonishing to know how many hours this took.
• The jumpsuit underneath has a simple cut that skims over you and goes past the waist and over the hips. The pant legs widen out as they near their hem and each is a full 28" around the bottom hem.
• The inner jumpsuit is made out of a silk jersey that has some stretch, so it is very comfortable and easy to wear
• Unlined and both the inner jumpsuit and the outer overlay close with their own zippers. There is also a zipper at the cuff of the sleeve.
• Hand finished throughout. Tagged a vintage La Mendela 8. The measurements given are the comfortable stretch when laid out flat. The photo of the swatches is from that previous dress. The actual swatch card is not included. 
• There is the occasional bead missing here and there but overall excellent condition.

• This dress was one that was produced for the shops
• Made under the creative direction of Clare Wright Keller
• Easy to wear while still being incredibly sexy. It is made out of a thicker jersey that is cut on the bias and this lets it drape beautifully over you and still be completely opaque.
• The plunge at the front gives it a very edgy and sexy feel while the jersey keeps it feeling comfortable to wear.
• The dress is made to be one long tube with a seam at the waist on the front of the dress only.
• The dress has no collar and plunges down at the front to the waist. Two long ties extend out from the base of the front plunge. You can loop or knot them and then they fall almost to the floor at the front.
• The sleeves are long and simple and the shoulders are soft.
• The skirt flares out at it reaches the floor with a high slit runs up the front so you get a flash of leg when you move
• The dress is in its original uncut supermodel length and it closes with a back hidden set zipper.

• Arnold Scassi launched  his boutique line in 1984 and it was high end ready-to-wear and very expensive.
• Arnold Scaasi was born Arnold Isaacs in Montreal and the name Scassi is simply his own surname in reverse. He studied in Montreal and in Paris, apprenticed at the house of Paquin and then worked with the legendary Charles James. In 1964 he opened own couture salon.
• The sleeved version of this dress walk the runway for the Fall 1987 collection. It's very rare to find documentation from this time period and I love having that say that you can see how amazing it is on. I think this strapless one is even better.
• You can easily see the influence of Arnold having worked for Charles James in this piece. The lines are dramatic and yet elegant. 
• The dress is strapless and the top portion of the dress is made from an inky black velvet. It is dramatically shaped at the front with wired peaks and a V plunge at the front. 
• It nips in at the waist and then angles down from one side low on the hip on the other. On the side that sits higher up, there is a large bow detail that gives the effect of holding all the gathers of the skirt in place.
• The skirt is set under that and the long angling seam on the opposite hip adds visual length to the dress as it extends down and into a deep point. The skirt is quite full and the shape and volume that you see is held by the inner construction which is quite amazing.
• Layers of tulle netting set underneath the outermost layer of silk. The green of the skirt is a true brilliant emerald. This unexpected shock of colour is fantastic.
• Fully lined in a green silky rayon. The bodice is lightly boned and it closes with a hidden set side zipper. Built in stiff tulle under skirts and the skirt is interlined in a green organza. 
• There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

• From the Fall 1985 Givenchy Haute Couture collection and we have included some photos showing the extensive use of this particular fabric for pieces shown on the runway.

• Completely made by hand in the Paris atelier to Haute Couture standards.
• This gorgeous dress is made out of a black silk velvet with a leopard print done in a different finish of velvet within the fabric. This pattern gives the velvet an extra depth and richness, and also catches the light as you move. It is stunning.
• It drapes absolutely beautifully over the body. It is really an outstanding fabric. The bodice is set into a V that crosses over itself where it is set into the waist. The bodice drapes more loosely over you at the front. 
• The waist is seamed and cut slightly on the more generous side. I have added a ribbon and if you wanted more shape, you could have it cinched and even more with a belt or it also works perfectly well without.
• The sleeves narrow down to a hand set zippered cuff.
• The skirt falls to the floor in a pretty sweep of fabric that is at the front. This lets the front hem curve up slightly.
• It is a gorgeous dress and a wonderful piece of his fashion history.
• Fully lined in a black silk. There's a inner built-in half skirt. It closes with an inner side set zipper and the outside snapped into place with a series of hidden set, snapped around the waist. And inner waist state hooks to close. Each cuff has a hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is from Spring 1974 collection and we found a very similar dress on the runway so you can see how fabulous this is once on.
• Pauline Trigere launched her label in 1942. She was from Paris and moved to the US in 1937. That early French influence showed throughout her career. In 1949 she was awarded her first Coty award. She won it again in both 1951 and 1959. The 1959 win coincided with being inducted into the Coty Fashion Hall of Fame. She was a pioneer in the use of cottons and wool for evening and her work with silks is wonderful.
  
• This is the kind of piece that you only find in vintage because they just could not make things at this level anymore. The price would be too cost prohibitive.
• The dress is made from what feels like a cotton/silk gazaar mix that has a beautiful and bright floral design done over the entire dress. 
  
• Onto that are hundreds of hand set, prong set, glass rhinestones in various sizes. Larger ones edge the collar and cuffs and then more are scattered over the entire dress in that same larger size along with smaller sized crystals.
• These catch the light from every angle and it is just incredible to see.
  
• The collar is pointed and sits more on the shoulders and the first button at the front sits slightly low so you get a pretty V at the front. From there it falls in a more sheath feel and slightly widen out as it near the hem. If you wanted more shape you could easily add a belt so it has more of the feel of the runway photo.
• It buttons to close down the front with a series of rhinestone buttons. Each cuff closes with two more rhinestone buttons.
• Fully lined in a nude silk chiffon. All of the rhinestones are hand set. Proper finished button holes.
• The very last rhinestone button at the front is missing and there is some slight grubbiness / darkening to the inside of the collar. Otherwise excellent condition

• This is a phenomenal piece from his main line that can be considered Demi Couture and would have been made to order.
• This is the type of piece you'll only ever find in vintage and you will probably never see another one of these again. It is so dramatic and in being so also so very Scaasi.  He himself once said 'I am not a minimalist designer! Clothes with some adornment are more interesting to look at and more fun to wear.'
• This piece is a dream and will be one of your favourite things. As good as it looks in the photos it is even better in person. The photos do not convey how the metallic fabric seems to glow from within and how it really holds all that incredible volume around you.
• It is made from a fantastic floral pattern set in grids that run across the entire piece. The flowers are the prettiest colours and then everything is washed over with the gold thread that covers the entire piece. The floral pattern completely covers the vest/coat giving it that phenomenal design that you see.
• The cut is purposefully oversized. The shoulders are soft and are cut to curve down for just a suggestion of a tiny cap at the shoulder.
• The sleeve opening are deep set so that it can be worn over something with wide sleeves if you wish to go full drama.
• It is designed with a loose and easy cut that falls from the shoulders and then opens out dramatically wide as it nears the hem. 
  
• There are large top set pockets on each hip. A single hook holds it in place at the top of the neck and then the rest just falls open down the entire front.
  
• The cut is meant to be oversized and it is meant to be worn that way so should fit a range of sizes. It will just be even more oversized on a smaller frame and feel more fitted on a larger.
• Unlined and hand finishes.

• The dress is unlabeled but came from the closet of a woman who shopped higher end pieces back in her day and she would remove the tags when travelling. So it is a little vintage mystery but a well made one.
• Gold lurex thread is woven through a floral print backdrop that has all the colours of the rainbow in it. It is a fabric that the closer you look at it the more amazing it feels.
• The gold covers the dress from top to bottom and makes such an impact. It gives the dress a subtle glint from every angle.
• The neck is set wider across and the sleeves are long and puff out fabulously above each cuff.
• The bodice skims over you to a wide 5" band that defines and cinches in the waist. The skirt is set into the waist with a series of soft pleats and these open to give the fullness that you see as the skirt sweeps to the ground.
• Fully lined in a nude netting and closes with a back zipper. Each cuff closes with two hidden snaps.
• Excellent condition with the occasional light pull in the fabric that this type of fabric tends to have.

• In 1951, a 27 year old James Galanos launched his first label called Galanos Originals. By 1954 he had won a Coty award and the Neiman Marcus award.
• His ready-to-wear line was made close to couture standards and with a level of craftsmanship that was on par with the French couturiers. He was truly one of the great American designers and his work is held in all of the major museums around the world.
• This is a dress that is extremely well made with a very high level of construction techniques.
• The dress is made from two types of lace that contrast against each other.
• The dress falls from lace straps that curve up and over each shoulder. It dips down at the front and the back is scooped to leave a bare expanse of skin. It skims over the bust to the slight empire cut waist. The waist is generous and the lines of the dress are stunning.
• The bodice is covered with a beautiful black lace with a second layer of lace on top of the nude silk lining underneath so you get a little bit of extra depth to the pattern that you see.
• The skirt is made out of a heavy corded silk lace. The cording is also a clever way to help to shape the skirt so beautifully. The skirt curves out and over the hips and then widens out to the hem.
• The top lace layer sits over a deep green silk inner skirt. Having the deep moss green underneath highlights the cord and lace more than adding just a black under skirt would have. The silk underneath also helps to hold the fuller shape the skirt has.
• The workmanship on this dress is exquisite and to demi-couture standards.
• Lined in a nude silk through the bodice and the inner piece of the skirt is backed in a black silk organza. It closes with a back zipper. Hand finishes throughout.

• From the Fall 2015 collection with references to its design on both the RTW Couture show.
• In 2015 Valentino was headed by both Maria Grazia Chiuri and PierPaolo Piccioli.
  
• The fabric is a silk that is heavy and has an almost fine wool suiting feel to it. The weight of the fabric is what holds the dress in place over you.
• The front is cut straight across the neckline and then it is brought starkly down the sides and set to sit just over the seam at the waist. This is repeated at the back with an addition of a long open keyhole that displays a slice of bare skin from neck to waist.
• This creates a rectangular cut out on either side from your shoulder to the waist. 
• You can wear it bare or you can lay this over top of something.
• The waist nips in and and the skirt falls to the floor or ankle depending on your height.
• There is an amazing amount of fabric used for the skirt. It is flat pleated all the way around your waist and then each of those pleats open up at about 3 1/2 inches under the waist line to the hem.
• Inside each the open pleat are four more top stitched knife pleats that gradually open as they reach the hem. The detail that this creates all the way around the skirt when you move is amazing. When you stand still everything falls like a normal pleated skirt but when you move and they start to open and you see all those top stitched inner pleats the entire thing just comes to life.
• It beautifully executed and even better in person.
• Fully lined in a black silk through the bodice and the skirt is unlined. It closes with a button and loop at the back of the neck and a hidden set zipper that starts at the waist.
• Tagged a modern Valentino 40.
• It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the Fall 2005 runway for Look 51.
• Made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• The dress has all of the elaborate over the top details that you would expect from a Galliano runway piece.
• The bodice of the dress is elaborately pleated. The black silk jersey that it is made out of has been draped and gathered into a V at the front that is edged in velvet. The rest of the bodice is made from a silk with stiffened ribbon shown on the exterior all the way around. This sits over an inner corseted and cupped bodice.
• Straps connect to a silver D ring at the centre of the neckline and then they curve up and over your shoulders and attach at the sides of the back. On the runway, they were gathered so they appear more narrow, but you can also wear them to create a little almost capped cape feel like I have shown here. I love that you have the versatility of wearing it either way. 
• The waist is seamed and a cord finished with little Dior embossed clips runs through the waist and allows you cinch it in as needed.
• The skirt falls from under there in a beautiful bias cut. The entire top portion of the hip is gathered into elaborate panels to pick up on the box all the way around you. The skirt falls from there and widen out as it near the hem. An oversized and elongated pocket is top stitched onto one side and elaborate velvet, sequin and net flowers sweep over the entire skirt.
  
• The upper back is left bare and I love that little curving peak that he has added there for extra detail.
  
• Fully lined with an inner silk skirt and a fill built-in silk cupped and boned inner corset bodice. It zips to close with a hidden set zipper.

• The near twin of this dress in a green walked the runway for Look 49 on Jessica Stam for the Dior cruise 2009 show.
• Made under the creative direction of John Galliano
• It is my understanding that this version with its gorgeous bead work was a special edition piece that was only sold in some locations and on a limited basis. The runway pieces that season were based lightly on Poiret and Paris of the past, and for production there was a group of more refined and elegant pieces like this wonderful dress.

• This is a wonderfully easy dress to wear and very flattering once on.
• There is an inner silk sheath dress and then a layer of silk chiffon floats over that. This top layer is what gives the dress it's caftan feel.
• The neckline is scooped across with a wide and extensive bib of beads that follows the entire neckline all the way around.
• Extending out from that edging you see a beautiful design trailing down the front, across the shoulders and around to the back. The design combines little pewter seed beads with black tube beads, silver beads and black tone flat large sequins with a mirror like finish.
• The top layer of the dress has vertical seaming around the waist area that brings it in and gives it some added shape. Under that, the dress falls to the floor and the hem opens out. The top chiffon layer runs over the entire dress to the floor.
• From the front you have a more fitted shape through the body at the centre and then at the back it is full and open like a true caftan over the inner dress.
• The movement and drama this creates is extraordinary. When you walk and move the dress billows out and floats around you.

• This is a variation on Look 52 that walked the runway for the Spring Prada 2004 show
• Made under the creative direction of Miuccia Prada
• Vogue said of this collection: "Over almost a decade of ground-breaking experimentalism, Miuccia Prada has explored everything from irony to deliberate ugliness to intellectual subversion. She’s been there, done that, and has the souvenirs to prove it. For Spring 2004, the designer turned her attention to the stiffest fashion challenge of the day: how to make feminine, happily nostalgic clothes without rehashing the clichés of vintage?“ It was about tourism and craftsmanship, many things,” she said of a show that revisited the optimistic fifties to bring back a full set of densely packed suitcases." 
  
• The dress is made of of an ultra fine, ultra light cotton in a deep ivory.
• It is strapless and the fabric has been done in extremely fine pleats with embroidered edges on some of the pleats. These sweep across and around the bodice. One one side the pleats are hand tacked down in a line that curves down one side. On the other side of that tacking the pleats begin to open up to sweep downwards and start to form the skirt. 
• The skirt is made of five tiers of the cotton with attached under layers of silk and netting. This creates an extraordinarily beautiful  draping all the way down the skirt.
• The cotton is printed with an ultra fine pattern made of fine little dots to form tiny clusters of flowers. These cover the entire dress. It is extremely beautiful and has a very delicate and feminine feel.
• Inside there is a net and cupped bodice that is lightly boned for support.
• It closes with a back zipper. An inner waist stay hooks to close. The construction of the dress is a nod to the dresses of the 1950s and it is very beautifully done.

• It is incredibly beautiful and it would make an amazing wedding dress for the bride looking for a non-traditional choice or as an alternative dress in a more extended wedding celebration. And of course it could also be worn to any event.
• The original retail on this was just over $14,000 US because of the extensive hand applied sequins.
• It comes with its original inner ivory silk slip that allows it to be opaque enough to be worn.
• The outer dress is worn over that and is made from a double layer of a white netting that has that amazing sequin design applied over its surface.
• The neckline is scooped, and the dress falls in a shift shape over the body. The lower skirt flares out slightly following and the vertical designs done in sequins that circle around the hem emphasize the hem.
• The sleeves are long and end in sequin finished cuffs. They are cut to balloon out above the cuff and I love this little added detail.
• The sequins are extensive and have been applied over the entire dress. I have taken many close-up shots for you to see how beautiful it is. They mix a iridescent ivory sequins with gold sequins to form the pattern that you see. There are also tiny little muted gold seed beads that create part of the pattern, including the ribbon of the leafs. And the larger flowers have tiny pink and pale, lavender bead set in and among the design. It is incredible.
• Because so much of the dress has those sequins applied onto it, the dress catches the light perfectly from every angle, and every angle but you view the dress from is absolutely stunning.
• The inner slip has no closures and slips over the head to wear. The back top seam of the slip is finished with an elastic for an easy fit and added comfort.
• The outer dress slips over that and closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. Each cuff has four buttons to close.
• Tagged a modern Valentino 42 on both pieces and both have their proper Valentino tags.
• I seen one teeny tiny catch in the net near the zipper but it's extremely minor and just mentioned for accuracy.

• Fall 2007 dress by John Galliano
• Made of a combination of an ivory silk chiffon that is covered in an ivory net lace
• The dress has a strong nod to the 1920s. It is generously cut through the waist and has a scooped neckline.
• Silk chiffon has been formed into little rosettes on either side of the buttons that run down the side of the dress. Panels of chiffon wrap around the waist from the flowers to add a bit of detail and shape.
• There is a long panel of silk that hangs from one of the rosettes at the front. You can allow it to just trail down the front or hook it over one of the rosettes at the back to create a pretty draping down the full side of the skirt.
• The dress is very light in weight. The silk chiffon underlay acts as the lining.
• It closes with the series of silk covered buttons down the side

• The twin of this dress was presented as Look 5 for the Resort Givenchy collection.
• Made under the creative direction of Ricardo Tisci
  
• This was his fifth year at the label and in the Vogue review of the show they noted that Tisci told them that the colour palette of black, red and white mixed with the occasional leopard was inspired by Frida Kahlo and her animal-filled paintings.
• The dress was shown over a hot pant two-piece inner set but was shipped to the stores with the black half slip you see here. If you prefer the runway version you could of course easily re-create a more bare feel.
• The dress is made out of a black net with little silk insects, emphasizing the darts. It is set in with a seam under the bust that is angled upwards to the centre. It is suspended from two tiny straps that curve up and over the shoulder. The very upper edge of the bodice is finished with leather piping.
• It skims over the waist and then the skirt cascades outward from there to the floor.
• Red lace and red netting have been applied over the dress to create the striking pattern that you see. This pop of red against the transparent black net is even more striking once on the body and you see the transparency through it that contrast against the red lace and netting.
• It widen out quite a bit by the hem and the width of the lower skirt allows the dress to move beautifully around you as you move.
• The inner black silk chiffon slip acts as the lining and it slips on to wear for an easy fit.
• The net dress slips on over that with no closures.
• Tagged a Givenchy 40
• I see a couple of tiny repairs in the net near the raw edge finish of the skirt. Very minor but mention for accuracy.

• This might be one of my favourite dresses I have had in the shop. The photos do not do it full justice and it is only when you see it in person that you realize just how beautiful it is.
• It is made out of a fine black lace. The lace completely covers the dress and I would be astounded to know how many yards of lace went into making this dress.
• The inner bodice is strapless and meant to be fitted. It is lined in a fine tissue silk and boned for support. An outer layer of lace covers the bodice and forms tiny cap sleeves. I love how this lets the upper shoulders and shoulders feel unlined so you get a peak of skin through it.
• The inner back scoops down with that a single layer of lace exterior covering you. It is very elegant but still feels very sexy.
• The waist nips in and then the dress glides over the hips to falls to the floor.
• Inside there are three layers of silk organza. Two black layers directly under the lace and then nude innermost layer. The two innermost layers both have wide bands of stiffening around the hem and the layer that sits directly under the lace has three stacked stiffened bands going up the skirt. This is what helps to hold the incredible shape and volume that you see.
• The skirt is extremely full and has so many yards of lace in its construction. The volume that you see was all created by the sheer amount of fabric, the cut and the seven lace tiers that run over the entire lower portion of the skirt.
• I love the tiers of lace that cover the lower part of the skirt. Each is set to slightly overlap the next one down. No expense was spared on the lace in the dress. Even the area between the tiers are finished with lace despite that fact that you can’t see them. Each tier's lace is set to that the edges are scalloped to follow the pattern and shape of the designs in the lace. I took a photo where I hold the skirt up on one side and this will give you an idea of the amount of yardage the skirt has. It is incredible.
• The inner construction of this dress is as good as the exterior and it is made close to a demi-couture level.
  
• It closes with a back zipper where the inner corset starts. The neck hooks to close and there is a keyhole between. Boned through the bodice. An inner waist state hooks to close.
• There is no there is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

• George Stavropoulos was known for his evening wear and his signature looks often involved draping and the use of silk done on a bias cut. He focused on cut and fabric to convey the beauty of each piece. It was said that his gowns 'seemed to float on air'.
• He launched his label in 1960 and soon was dressing women like Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, Barbra Streisand and Maria Callas. The majority of his gowns are almost entirely made by hand and to couture standards. 
• The dress is made out of a feather light black silk that has tiny little red lines that highlight the cut and line of the dress. 
• The neckline is cut straight across and the dress is suspended from tiny straps that curve up and over the shoulders. 
• The bodice is more fitted and the waist nips in. 
• From there the skirt falls in this extravagant swoosh of bias cut silk to the floor. It skims over the hips and then widens out substantially by the hem.
• The striping is set on angles over the dress and helps to add shape. I love the unexpected red lining through the skirt that picks up on that red stripe. When you sit or move you get these little flashes of it that is fantastic. 
• There is a slight elastic around the top of the dress and I think you could wear this as a strapless piece and just tuck the little straps in if you wished.
• Fully lined in a red silk and it closes with a side set zipper. 
• Excellent condition and appears unworn.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1987 collection.
• Made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• The dress is made from a black silk faille base and then the upper part of the dress is covered in a layer of black net detailed with little dots.
• The ruffle that goes around the hip is in the same fabric as the base and then it was dyed to the coral orange colour that you see. The inner skirt under the ruffle is made from the black silk faille.
• This choice in fabric gives the dress its structure and shape and also allows for the volume that you see in the ruffle detailing that wraps around the waist and hips.
• The bodice is strapless and is lightly boned on the inside for shape. It skims over the waist and curves back out for the hips.
• The ruffle is the star of the show and makes a wonderful impact. The ruffle flare outwards from the body to create a more full shape.
• Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a side set zipper. The bodice is lightly boned and shaped. An inner waist stay hooks to close. 
  
• Tagged a vintage YSL 38
• There is a bit of fading along the fold lines on the skirt and a couple of minor areas where it has lightened. Please review the photos after the label shot.

• A gorgeous and striking piece that can be worn as a jacket or a dress.
• Made under the creative direction of Christian Lacroix 
• The piece zips up at the front and fully opens. This is why it can play double duty as either a dress or a jacket.
• The fabric has a black backdrop and then has beautiful flowers woven through it in a deep red and an almost purple colour.
• It has no collar and the front is detailed with a wide band on either side of the zipper that has a swooping pattern made out of a cord applied onto the fabric. This panel extends down the back with more cording there as well.
• The waist is brought in and seamed and then the skirt under that is pleated into that seam. This allows it to be very full.
• Little pockets sit on each side of the hip so you can put your hands into the pockets and exaggerate the fullness of the skirt even more.
• The sleeves are wonderful. They are set into a slightly dropped shoulder and widen out to be quite wide by their ends.
• It is lined in a black silk and there is light rounded padding in each shoulder for shape. It zips to close at the front.

• This is a signature bias cut dress from the Spring 2002 collection by John Galliano
• Made under the creative direction of John Galliano
• There are no closures on the dress. It is completely cut bias and you just slip it over the head to wear and it just falls into place skimming over the body from head to toe.
• The cut of the dress has a strong nod to Couture pieces of the 1930s and 1940s decades that he continuously referenced in his collections.
• The fabric has a silk like finish and is a deep black. Various Galliano logos have been woven directly into the fabric in a different finish thread so as you move these catch the light. The effect is fantastic once it is on the body.
• The fabric obviously would have been custom designed by Galliano and made specifically for this dress
• It scoops down into a V at the front and the back with a band highlighting the entire neckline. It skims over the waist and hips from there and flares out at the lower hem. 
  
• The back is cut longer than the front so you get this fantastic sweeping feel behind you. It is in its original uncut length.
• A high slit runs up one side for a flash of leg when you walk.
• Unlined and slips on to wear with no closures.
  
• The measurements have a lot of range because of the bias cut and no closure so I have given the comfortable range for all below when laying out flat. There is probably a little extra room beyond my measurements, but I do not like to over pull when measuring.

• This was a dress produced for the shops in 2011 and it is especially interesting because it is very near in style to the dress that Pippa Middleton wore to her sister's wedding that year and Lily Cole wore its twin in a different fabric to a premiere that year as well. 
• A beautiful dress that is very flattering on the body. McQueen was a master tailor and the seam work and simplicity of this dress do not hide that fact.
• It is made from a beautifully light silk so it is easy to wear. It is done in one of his sculpted and shaped silhouettes that he is known for.
• It is cut to flow over the body and skims over the bust, waist and hips to the floor.
• The neckline drops into a rounded off V at the front and the panels that curve around that V are draped for extra detail. The shoulders are a rounded cap and they have light padding to help hold that beautiful shape.
• The seam at the waist curved upwards and then the skirt continues past that, over the hips and flares out as it reaches the hem.
• At the back there is extra fabric worked around the centre seam to give you a trained effect behind you. This flaring out at the bottom and the extra bit at the back give you fabulous movement when you walk or move.
• It is in its original uncut length.
• Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set back zipper. Light padding in the shoulders.

• This dress is from the Fall 2012 Valentino collection
• At this time both Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were acting Creative Directors. 
• It has the feel of Looks 25 & 48 from the runway with that deep plunge at the front that is really fantastic. 
• The Vogue review for this collection stated in part; "For Fall, the designers wove an enchanting, globe-trotting story through the sweetly feminine silhouettes they've established as their own over the last few ready-to-wear and couture seasons".
• It is made in one of Valentino's signature silk crepes that gives it its sleek sculpted feel.
• The dress is very sexy and shows off some skin but still feels very elegant and refined. The fabric has just a touch of a bias cut to it through the body so its very comfortable to wear.
• Wider straps curve up and over your shoulders and all the edges of the bodice are set in a soft curving scalloped pattern.
• The front plunges to almost the waist with a band of the same fabric sitting part way down to keep it perfectly in place. This creates just a subtle little key hole below the breast. The result is a very deep plunge but a very wearable one.
• The back is a V to leave most of your upper back bare.
• The skirt widens out as it nears the hem. A wide band of fabric circles all the way around the hem and the bottom edge is the same scallop as around the bodice.
  
• The bodice is fully lined in a black silk and the lower panel of the skirt is a double layer of the same fabric. The skirt between is unlined.
• It closes with a back hidden set zipper.

• From the Act 1 Fall/Winter 2019 Chanel collection. This is the collection done for shops between the pre-collection and the runway shows. These are often specialized items that are made on an extremely limited basis.
• Made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
• The buttons on this one are so special. They are little snowflakes on a carved backdrop mixed with rhinestones. They are meant to evoke winter and when combined with the knit, the feel of being warm and cozy, nestled inside from the ice and snow on a winter's day.
• There are five larger buttons down the front and then a slightly smaller version sits on each pocket and at each cuff.
• Even though the sweater at first glance looks like it is made out of Angora, Chanel actually does not use Angora. Instead it is made out of a blend of cashmere and alpaca. This is a very expensive to produce, time consuming process and a amazing technical achievement in fabric.
• The colour is a pale baby blue and even though we have tried to capture it as closely as possible here it is even better in person. It is the kind of piece that makes you gasp out loud when you see it.
  
• It has a slightly cropped feel to it and I love the two little pockets on the front.
• It buttons to close down the front and the pockets are functional but each is still lightly tacked shut as it came from Chanel.
• It has its original Chanel packet with extra yarn inside and its original Chanel tag. It appears to be unworn.
• This is a very rare and special Chanel piece especially in this pristine a condition.
• The knit has some stretch and I have put the un-stretched, laying flat measurements below.

• A gorgeous little Chanel Scottish cashmere skirt from the 1990s.
• Made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
• The colour is this interesting colour that lies somewhere between a deep ivory with a bit of taupe that has a touch of a soft green undertone. It makes for an amazing neutral.
• It has a ribbed waistband and then it is made to appear as if it wraps and closes down one side at the front.
• It flares out slightly at the hem and is quintessentially '90s in feel.
• It has fabulous gold tone buttons running down the front that have a lucky four leaf clover at their centre. Each button has the Chanel logo engraved on the back.
• Very easy to wear piece you just slip it on and go.
• No size tag present so please check measurements. The fabric does have stretch and I have given the stretch of the waist.
• Excellent condition with a tiny bit of patina on the buttons.

• From the Cruise 2019 Chanel collection. It was a shop piece based on the rainbow stripe pieces shown in the collection, most notably Looks 33 and 34.
• Made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
• In Vogue's review of the show, they noted that "The clothes read both as a sentimental journey around the ’80s, when Lagerfeld began designing for the house, and of the signatures—quilting, tweed, sailor pants, pearls, Scottish cashmeres, camellias—that Gabrielle Chanel brought to fashion in the first place."
• Made out of one of those Scottish cashmeres referenced above and it is exquisite.
• The colour is a pale ivory and then it has a rainbow of soft pastel stripes that form the famous Chanel logo on the front and on each sleeve.
• It slips over the head with ribbing at the collar, cuffs and around the waist.
• It has a slightly cropped feel to it and the sleeves balloon out fantastically over the cuffs
• It has its original Chanel packet with extra yarn inside and appears to be unworn. The colours are even better in person. 
  
• The knit has some stretch and I have put the un-stretched, laying flat measurements below except for the bottom ribbing for which I did the comfortable range when laying flat.

• Made under the creative direction of Loris Azzaro
• The twin of this piece was recently worn by Naomi Watts and that one was also sourced from us. 
• It is an amazing piece that is very versatile. 
• It is made from a beautiful black jersey that has a little bit of weight just due to the sheer amount of it in the cape but is still comfortable and easy-to-wear.
• You just slip it over your shoulders and it drapes in place and ties at the neck.
• A slightly oversized hood extends out from the neck and this addition of the hood gives the perfect amount of detail and drama.
• There is a ton of fabric in the body of the cape so that when you move you get wonderful movement as it floats and billows around you.
• Unlined and drapes over the shoulder to wear and ties at the neck.
• The easy open cut should allow fit just about any size

• The pinkish coloured Gucci label denotes this as a custom order piece.
• Made under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele
• The fabric is a black and gold brocade that has pink flowers running through it. Gold thread is part of the floral design and subtly comes through the black portions as well.
• The jacket is a play on a men's smoking jacket and wraps and ties to close with a matching wide black velvet band. Black velvet details the collar and runs all the way down to the hem. A strip of velvet tops each top set over-sized pocket at the front. A wide band of black feathers finish each cuff.
• The pants are easy to fit with elastic around the waist and have full legs with elastic at the hem. This allows you to wear them higher up and cropped or longer. They have pockets on each hip.
• The jacket is fully lined in a floral printed silk finish fabric in a dusty deep pink and the pants are unlined. 
  
• The jacket has a hidden set snaps at the front and then you use the matching velvet band to cinch it in as much as you want.
• The pants close with a front zipper and button at the waist and have elastic for an easy fit. Elastic at each hem. Pockets on each hip.
• The pants are tagged a Gucci 40 and the jacket a 38

• The twin of this walk the runway for Fall 2017
• The Dsquared2 brand was started by Dean and Dan Canten, identical twins born in Canada. 
• It is gorgeous and manages to be both sleek and simple and yet complete drama at the same time.
• It is made from a very beautiful black silk and cotton mix that has a little bit of weight just due to the sheer amount of it in the cape but is still comfortable and easy-to-wear.
• You just slip it over your shoulders and it drapes in place and ties at the neck.
• The neckline is high and there is a pleated piece of fabric and a little bit of raw edge tulle that runs around the neck.
• A bit of velvet ribbon runs down the centre and this extends out and ties at the neck. That same little pleating detail runs over the shoulder.
• The fabric is flat with little black velvet bouquets of flowers, and this covers the entire cape.
• There's intricate pleading over the shoulders and bands of more pleated fabric that runs just above the knee and then all the way around the hem.
• There is a ton of fabric in the body of the cape so that when you move you get wonderful movement as it floats and billows around you.
  
• Fully lined in a light weight black cotton and drapes over the shoulder to wear and ties at the neck.
  
• It is brand new with its tags still attached and was never worn.

• Valentino launched his ready-to-wear label in 1962 just two years after opening his first salon in Rome. He often brought in the designs that he created for his main couture label into the boutique work. In these early days pieces were remarkably close in quality and the line between the two labels was often blurred. 
• Made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino
• The top is made out of a bright pink silk that has a ribbon effect worked into the fabric for added texture.
• The cut is boxy and generous through the body for an easy fit. The sleeves are also cut generously and end with a buttoned cuff.
• The neck is ruffled with black velvet piping looped through the ruffles. They tie stacked on top of each other for a really pretty and dramatic effect.
• The top is unlined and closes at the front with a series of hidden set buttons. There is the shell of padding in each shoulder but it feels like the actual padding has been removed.
• There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below. The top is meant to feel more loose and generous.

• The twin of the dress was shown for Look 7 for the Resort 2019 collection
• Made under the creative direction of Wes Gordon
• Wes had been at Herrera for a year at this point but this was his first solo collection for the label.
• This dress was one of the outstanding pieces from the collection and in the Vogue review this look was mentioned specifically saying "On the more freewheeling side of the new developments was a rainbow-striped mink cape that he paired with a rainbow-striped chiffon gown, horizontal in the first case, vertical in the latter. Gordon observed that the look was just this side of camp; what that says is that he’s not afraid of risks."
• Made of a silk chiffon done in a rainbow colours set vertically over the body
• It has a one shoulder silhouette with a silk knot at the top of the shoulder for detail. The silk drapes down and over the bust from there.
• A braided band details the waist and the band is made out of the same silk as the rest of the dress.
• It skims over the hips and flares out towards the floor. The back is cut longer than the front so you get this beautiful sweeping feel behind you. The silk is light and catches the air to move beautifully around you when you move.
• Fully lined in a white silk and closes at the side with a hidden set zipper

• This is a rare dress by the designer LaVetta who at the time was noted for being "the only black person designing and marketing her own line" according to a 1979 Ebony article. They also noted that her dresses were over $10,000 in 1979 which was a remarkable number for any designer at that time period.
• Legend has it that it was the scarf dress that relaunched her business after the heyday of the sixties and  Hollywood glamour had ended. Her initial business had died out by 1970. One day a friend showed up in a thrifted dress made out of scarves that she had found in Europe. LaVetta made her own version, a buyer from Neiman Marcus snapped it up, she begged and borrowed money to meet the order and she was back in business. 
• The sleeves are cut wide and full in a way that gives a nod to the kimono sleeve. They are cut to be at the extra full width all the way to their ends.
• Both the back and the front plunge to the seam that sits just under the bust.
  
• The skirt has a full 360 degree sweep. This gives it incredible volume and movement once on.
  
• The scarf printed silk that is used for the dress is very light in weight and the entire dress has the most amazing drape and movement as a result.
• Each of these dresses were unique with no two having the same mix of patterns and colours.
• The bodice is unlined and the skirt has a black inner stretch nylon lining.
• Tagged a medium
• Excellent condition with a couple of tiny pinholes at the base of the blue silk at the front plunge. Extremely minor.

• This jacket is from the Spring 2006 collection and it is a beautiful classic and timeless Chanel jacket. 
  
• Make it under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
  
• The collection was called "Coco meats, James Dean" and the idea was that Lagerfeld organized this imaginary meeting between the two. In real life they had never met but in his eyes he saw them as being rebellious figures and wanted to explore the meeting of the two stylistically.
• The jacket has a gorgeous woven feeling to it tweed exterior and is a mix of silk and cotton.
• The shoulders have very light padding but are soft and shaped to the body and the sleeves are slightly cropped. Each sleeve has a fringe finish to it.
• The collar is scooped with the same fringe finishing and then the jacket closes down the front with hand made buttons to look like wax seals. A double C has been stamped into each button.
• Two tiny top set pockets sit on each side and these also have a fringe finish.
• The jacket has elaborate vertical seaming that pieces all of the panels together to give shape to the jacket.
• Triangle inserts have been done all the way around the hem so that it flares out with this fabulous little peplum. The bottom hem of the jacket is finished in fringe.
• Inside it is lined with a meticulous black silk that follows the pattern of the jacket. There is a signature silver chain that runs around the inner hem.

• This is a fantastic little Celine leather motorcycle jacket
• Made under the creative direction of Phoebe Philo
• The jacket is made from a soft leather that is heavy enough to hold its distinct shape.
• It has a small neat collar with padding and top stitching to create the distinctive motorcycle jacket features that you see.
• It closes to the side with an angled large silver zipper and then snaps to close at the collar above that.
• Zippered pockets are set on each side and there are four in total.
• Big silver buckles wrapped around the sides of the waist allowing you to cinch it in or open it more.
• The jacket is fully lined in a red quilted fabric

• There is some minor grubbiness to the inside edge of the lining and very minor creasing in the arms from minimal wear

• Its twin walked the runway for Look 43 for the Cruise 2011 Dior show. 
  
• Made under the creative direction of John Galliano
• The show was shown in Shanghai that season and Galliano chose not to do very specific references to Shanghai. He said at the time that he was more trying to "capture the feeling of Paris in its heyday" which was what he said he felt happening in Shanghai at that time.
• This was an outstanding look in the show and was one in a series of the closing looks.
• The dress is made of a deep muted pink silk chiffon and has nod to the 1960s in its design.
• A layer of silk chiffon that is heavily detailed with hand, beading, sequins and prong set pink rhinestones floats over a inner more fitted silk interior. The neckline is scooped wide across and then the back dips into a shallow V.
• The sleeves are a single layer of the chiffon and flare out at their ends. They are detailed all the way down to match the bodice.
• The interior dress closes with a hidden side set zipper and then the silk top layer that floats over it snaps along the edge of the waist at the back. A little strap floats across to connect the two sides and there is a highly detailed bow that sits off side at the back topping a gathering f the silk in the skirt.
• Another highly detailed bow sits at the centre of the front waist and I love how these two bows give the dress such a feminine and romantic touch.
• The dress falls from there to the floor with a top layer of chiffon floating over an inner silk skirt. It widen out just a touch at the hem.
• The inner silk portion of the dress has its own lining of a matching silk.
• The pink is a slightly different shade in person than how it photoed
• There is no size tag present so please reference the measurements below. It is slim fitting through the hips.

• A more recent piece made for the shops that I believe is from the earlier Maria years
• A very easy-to-wear dress that has a beautiful flow to it that that catches the air easily to billow around you as you move.
• The dress is made from a silk chiffon and is unlined so the entire dress has a touch of transparency. The dot like print is created by little pieces of pink and black fabric fused onto the silk.
• The elastic cuffs of the sleeves have a pin-tuck gathering that gives them a pretty diamond feeling design. The neck has that same detailing but without the elastic.
• The bodice is cut loose and easy and the sleeves are full.
• The waist is more structured but still cut on the more generous side. I have added a black silk ribbon that is not original to the dress but that will be sent with it. By changing what you put around the waist you can give the dress a different feel.
• The skirt flows to the floor from there and is very full and open with many yards of silk chiffon. It has an amazing movement when you move.
• Unlined and closes at the back with a hidden set zipper

• A very pretty little dress by the Chloe label
• The Fall 2006 collection was designed by the in-house team
• The dress is strapless and gathered across the bodice. The waist nips in under that and then the chiffon of the skirt flares out and is brought back in under the skirt.
• Underneath the edge of the skirt there is a pretty little scalloped ruffle set in three layers so you just see a touch of it peeking out from the edge of the hem.
• Some of the chiffon has been gathered along one side of the waist and then a wide, deeper ivory, panel of fabric wraps around the waist and is brought into a half bow on one side with the ends trailing down.
• An exposed zipper closes it at the back
• The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk

• The opening looks of the show were all lingerie inspired, including the twin of this dress that walked the runway for Look 4
• The dress is deeply plunged with black lace that covers the breasts. At the back, the lace straps turned into lingerie style adjustable straps.
• It skims past the waist and hips and flares out all around the bottom hem.
• The entire hem is detailed with more of the black lace whose pattern is set up and into the body of the dress
• The fabric that makes up the body of the dress is a silk feeling finish matte satin that has some weight to it. This lets it skim over the body and hold the intended shape.
• The dress is unlined and closes with a back hidden set zipper. The straps at the back are adjustable. The size tag has been removed so please check the measurements below.

• This exceptional dress is by Marc Bohan for Christian Dior and it is a wonderful example of his work during this time period.
• This best matches the work that he was doing from about 1969 to 1972 when he was doing these wonderful dresses. We found a similar one to this with variations on the print that this dress has and I have included it so that you can see how perfectly this will drape and fall on the body.
• It is a very easy and comfortable dress to wear
• The dress is made from a cotton that has a pretty floral print that covers the entire dress.
• The neckline is set high and detailed with a black cotton collar that extends down the front and buttons to about the waist area.
• Under that the bodice is meant to skim over you to fall loose and easy over the natural waist and then the skirt billows out from under that to the floor.
• The sleeves are set into the shoulder with slight gathers and they have a more full cut that balloons out over the wrists. At their ends they are edged with that same black fabric that sits around the collar and this extends out and tie into pretty bows around the wrist. 
• The dress comes with its matching tie belt in the same fabric so you can wear it loose and easy or cinch in the waist for shape.
• Once on the body the entire dress has this stunning movement and yet feels minimalist and elegant.
  
• Unlined and slips over the head to wear. The front buttons up to about the waist and each sleeve ties with attached ties. The belt is original to the dress.
• Tagged a vintage Dior 12 and the easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1998 Versace show
• Made under the creative direction of Gianni Versace
• This is a rare in early documented example of his work
• The dresses made of two layers of silk. There is an inner silk layer that is a bright vivid pink and then this is topped with a black silk chiffon that has a touch of transparency. 
  
• Onto the top black layer is an elaborate pattern made of silver metallic thread and little tiny silver sequins. This adds a subtle sparkle over the entire dress.
• Two triangles sit at the front bust and they are brought inwards at the neck leaving an open keyhole underneath. The straps circle around both sides of your neck and then meet at the back. They then curve outwards to meet the sides of a low open scoop that leaves most of your back bare and exposed. 
  
• It skims over the waist and hips from there and I love the lingerie effect created by having the black float over the inner pink layer.
  
• The inner pink silk layer acts as the lining. The neck slips over the head and then the dress closes with a hidden set side zipper. When the dress is off the body the pink under-layer appears to extends past the bottom by a couple of inches but it is bias cit so once on it lines up as shown in the photos here

• The Valentina Ltd label was a high end knit wear company that flourished through the 1950s to the 1970s and were known for the elaborate bead and sequin work on soft knits and knit jerseys. They had the bead and sequin work done in Hong Kong where the best sequin and bead work in the world outside of the specialty ateliers in Paris was being done.
• The base fabric is a black felted wool and this gives it a soft artisanal feel.
• This was printed in a design using a bright rainbow of colours that run down the dress. This gives the fabric a touch of added texture and it is also soft to the touch.
• The print covers every inch of the dress including the 'ribbons' at the bottom hem. To construct this so that the pattern perfectly lines up like this means that the pattern would have had to be all pre-thought out and laid out onto the fabric before cutting.
• The bead and sequin work is all done by hand and it is added to the fabric to follow and highlight the design underneath.
• I especially love the elaborate work around the waist band where large turquoise coloured discs and rhinestones create a stunning jewelled effect all the way around the waist.
• The neckline is scooped and the sleeves are long. The skirt falls from below the elaborate sequin belt detail and gently widens out a touch as it nears the floor.
• It is truly a very special dress. You just don't see this level of elaborate work on pieces anymore.
• Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a back zipper. Each cuff closes with two hidden set snaps.
• Excellent condition

• The near twin of this piece walk the runway for Spring 2007 for Look 57
• Made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino
• This is also the actual dress that was worn by Julia Schlaepfer to the recent Amfar gala
• Back in 2007 both Natalia Vodianova and Nicollette Sheridan wore versions of the dress
• It is incredibly beautiful and it would make an amazing wedding dress for the bride looking for a non-traditional choice or as an alternative dress in a more extended wedding celebration. And of course it could also be worn to any event.
• The dress is very light in weight and it is made from a pale pink silk chiffon that is draped beautifully over the dress
• The dress is strapless and the silk is gathered horizontally over and around the bodice. The gathe\rs extends down past the waist and to the top of the hip for a defined hourglass feel. A pretty raw edged panel of silk is attached and wraps around the waist and is tied in a bow at the side.
• The skirt is full and has beautiful movement. Long strips of the same fabric have been set all the way around the skirt to create long vertical ruffles. This creates an amazing movement when you walk.
• The dress is light in weight and absolutely beautifully made.
• Fully lined in a pale pink silk and has an inner corset that zips on its own. Light inner boning. A hidden set side zipper closes the dress over this inner corset
• Perhaps the tiny bit of grubbiness on the edge of the inner bodice but extremely minor. A couple of tiny faint dots in a couple of places. Very minor. One teeny repair near the hem that you would never see. Otherwise excellent condition.

• The near twin of the set walked the runway for the Spring 2008 show for Look 33
• Made under the creative direction of John Galliano
• The Spring 2008 show coincided with John Galliano's tenth year with the label and it was Dior's 60th year as a label. John celebrated that by creating pieces based on some of his signature looks through the past decade. 
• It is a set that could perhaps be worn by a bride who is looking for a non-traditional dress or as part of her wedding weekend. It is also an exceptional set for any event and for the Dior collector. 
• Both pieces are a pale pink. The jacket is made out of a crepe with a slight texture and the skirt is done in one of his signature bias cuts with a silk like finish.
• The jacket has soft rounded shoulders. It is brought in at the waist and then the hips curve back out for an hourglass feel. I love the detail with the rhinestones and beads that sit at the front of each shoulder and bring the sides out and back. This is a string nod to pieces from the 1940s. On the back of either hip there is a similar detailing that creates a little bit of a swag and detail at the back of the jacket.
• The skirt is completely cut on the bias and the bottom has inset panels to give it a pretty fluted feel. It has beautiful movement as you move.
  
• Both pieces are fully lined in a pink silk. The jacket buttons to close at the front with fabric covered buttons. The skirt closes with a hidden set side zipper set beside the row of buttons down the side. Light padding in each shoulder
• Both pieces are tagged a FR38, GB10, IT42, US6.
• I see a couple of very faint tiny marks on the skirt otherwise excellent condition

• Late 60s maybe the first couple years of the 1970s and it seems similar to some of the pieces I've seen from the 1970 season. 
• Under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta 
  
• The dress is made from a beautiful black silk taffeta that holds the shape and volume that this dress has perfectly.
• The fabric choice also keeps the dress fairly light in weight while giving the dress some structure and shape.
• Two shaped triangles cover the front of the bodice and there is a deep V for the neckline. The triangles extend all the way to the top of the neck and they are finished with a ruffle in the same fabric.
• Ties extend from just behind the peak of each triangle to tie behind the neck.
• It wraps around the waist and scoops low there. This leaves your entire back open and bare above that.
• The waist nips in and we have added a wide grosgrain ribbon to add a little more shape.
• The skirt is made out of the same silk taffeta and it is incredibly full by the time it reaches the hem. Tiers of silk allow this expansion and there are five tiers in total. Each tier is finished with that same ruffled detail that you see around the halter neck
• Inside there is a silk lining and then another netted lining sits between the outer skirt and that inner layer. This helps to hold the volume that you see.
• Fully lined in a layer of silk taffeta and the skirt is lined as described above.
• The dress closes with a low set zipper at the back. Hand finished throughout
• The ribbon at the waist is not original to the dress but will be sent with it
• Excellent condition

• The twin of the dress walked the Spring 2009 runway for Look 62 
• Under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
• This is the actual dress that was worn by Catriona Balfe for the Season 5 premiere of Outlander in 2020. 
• In the book "Chanel Catwalk" the notes on this collection tell us that for this show they rebuilt the facade of 31 rue de Cambron inside of the Grand Palais. The collection played homage to classic Chanel style. The palette of the show was mainly black, white, pink and grey. Many of the pieces had a touch of a lingerie inspiration in them, including this gorgeous dress. It was one of the outstanding pieces in the show and it is even more beautiful in person. My photos don't come close to doing it justice. 
• The upper bodice and shoulders of the dress are made of a fine silk netting that has a touch of transparency to it. It breaks at the back to leave a bare expanse of skin down the centre. 
• A muted silk satin, with a more matte finish, is used to create a tiny little bodice piece that wraps around you.  A little bow sits at the centre front for a pretty and feminine touch.
• The skirt falls from that empire cut and flows outward to the floor, expanding by quite a bit as it nears the hem.
• It is made of four layers, a top black silk net layer, a more ivory layer under that, and then two inner black silk organza layers that sit next to the skin.
• Fully lined in silk behind the bust area and the inner two layers of the skirt are a black silk organza.
• The bodice buttons to close  with two pewter coloured silver metal buttons at the back and the dress zips to close under that.
• Tagged a Chanel 38.
• I see a couple of very tiny and little minor pulls and breaks in the skirt near the hem that don't affect it at all but are mentioned for accuracy and a repair near the edge of the arm opening. Overall excellent condition

• The Vogue review for this collection touched on Pierpaolos's inspiration for the show saying; "(he is) a man on an intuitive mission to place fashion on a positive plane. 'I feel that people are looking for emotion and dreams—but not distant dreams,' he said today before his ready-to-wear show was about to take to the runway. 'I want to create a community for Valentino. I mean something different from ‘lifestyle,’ which is about owning objects. It’s about people who share values.'"
• It was photoed for editorials and worn on carpets that year
• Made from a beautiful orange wool that is extremely soft to the touch. Dyed feathers to match the colour have been added over the entire coat for an beautiful tactile feel. This also adds incredible movement once on.
• It has an open cocoon type shape that should fit a variety of sizes. It is meant to feel slightly oversized.
• There is a panel of fabric along the inner back hem that has the words "wrap me, free me, see me" done in black beads
• Pockets along each hip
• Unlined and closes with hidden set fabric covered snaps

• This appears to be the actual Haute Couture sample coat that walked the runway for the Fall 1985 Jean Patou collection for Look 12
• Made under the creative direction of Christian Lacroix 
  
• This is an extremely rare and important piece of fashion history. Very few pieces of his work at Patou come up for sale and this is more then likely the only piece to exist.
• Made in the Paris atelier
• Made of a soft orange wool shaped in an enveloping cocoon shape highly reminiscent of a 1920s flapper coat.
• It is all cut on the bias so once it is on the body it wraps around you beautifully. It is extraordinary. 
  
• The sleeves are quite extremely wide and they have a long wide cuff that flips up and over the sleeve. The cuff is completely covered in hand dyed feathers.
• More of the same hand dyed feathers are used to create a huge shawl collar that drapes down and over the shoulders. It continues to run all the way to the hem and circles around to the back hem.
• The coat narrows in as it reaches its bottom. This is a classic cut for this style of cocoon coat
• It feels wonderfully decadent and opulent, both key design elements in Lacroix's work. It is literally like wearing a work of art.
• Partially lined in a silk through the upper body of the coat and through the sleeves. The rest is unlined.
• Has its hand written Haute Couture sample label in place and attached metal couture tag
• Excellent condition

It is very full and open and has no closures so should fit almost any size. It is approximately 52 inches from neck to hem but that will come up a bit once it is on the body.
