lanvin
Soft & Romantic Resort 2012 Lanvin by Alber Elbaz Look 4 Tiered Full Length Black Silk Skirt
I Have a Question
This is a very pretty piece from Resort 2012 that is the twin of Look 4 in the presentation. Alber joined Lanvin in 2001 and served as the label's Creative Director until 2015. His first break as a designer came when he landed the senior assistant role at Geoffrey Beene. He stayed there for seven years until he was recruited to design for the Guy Laroche label in 1996. in 1998 he took over the Rive Gauche ready-to-wear for Yves Saint Laurent for three short seasons. A stint at Krizia and then a break happened before his time with Lanvin. The Alber years for Lanvin are ones that are much loved by all and with his recent passing owning these pieces seems even more poignant.
This is the softest feeling of the three skirts I have today. Even though they all have some similarities, this one is made from a lighter and more flowing feeling silk so it tends to fall a little straighter went on. The lightness also lets it have very pretty movement once you move. It falls from the waist in four tiers of fabric with an added ruffle around the first tier just under the hips. It widens out as it near the floor and there is a tremendous amount of fabric in it. The silk has an almost jersey to it which gives it a bit more of a relaxed, casual feel. It has that perfect vacation vibe and you could see slipping this on over a bikini or even just wearing it out for day with a T-shirt and then being able to dress it up at night time. It is very pretty and very versatile. And it has pockets. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a hidden set zipper at the side. Tagged a Lavin 42.

roberto cavalli
Goreous 2005 Roberto Cavalli Light as Air Silk Top w Frotn Plunge & Medallion Finished Front Ties
I Have a Question
This is a fantastic little Cavalli top from 2005. It is made out of a printed coral toned silk and silk chiffon that make it beautifully light in weight. It is very soft and supple and just glides over you once it is on. The bodice is made of two layers of the silk and then the lower portion of the top is a single layer of silk chiffon. Both fabrics are very light in weight and feel beautiful once on the body. The straps curve up and over the shoulders. Each has a little strip of ruffled silk chiffon attached to it that goes all the way to the base of the front plunge. Separating the top of the bodice, and the bottom chiffon part is a panel that has ties running through it all the way around. This is how you adjust the top into place. The ties are super long and each one is finished with little metal chains and medallions. The front plunges into a V that extends past where it ties so you got a little keyhole underneath. Under the ties it has a little peplum that flares out slightly. The back is also scooped for a bit of bare skin there as well. It is so pretty. Excellent condition
The bodice is two layers of silk, and the lower portion is unlined. The front is adjustable with the ties as described above. Tagged a vintage Cavalli M

I Have a Question
Full on vintage feather coats in such excellent condition are a rare find these days and this one is gorgeous. This is the coat that you will reach for over and over. It is made from fluffy white down feathers that create a tremendous volume and sense of drama. Little pale grey feathers are worked through that and these pop out from the white feathers on long thin stalks to add a gorgeous contrast. In person the depth and texture of all of those thousands and thousands of feathers have an even better effect then how it photoed. The feathers are tightly set together onto the base fabric so that you don't see any of that fabric between the feathers. This creates an almost bias cut like effect and allows the coat to billow and move around you fantastically when you move. It has a little collar that you can flip up or down depending on how much of the feathers you want around your neck. It is meant to skim over the body to the floor and widens out as it nears the hem. The sleeves are incredibly wide and they are a full 30" around by the time they reach their ends. You may remember that moment when Tracee Ellis Ross wore a feather coat from me to host the American Music Awards in 2017. She dropped it on stage and it fell from her shoulder like a cloud (I have that moment captured on my Instagram if you want to pop over there to see). This has that same feel. Once on the body the line of the coat is long and it always seems to sit perfectly in place no matter how you move. It definitely has volume but this just adds to its appeal. You could also belt it to add more shape like Tracee did backstage that day. It feels like next to nothing on and it is a full maxi coat length that falls right to the floor. It is truly amazing. The feathers give it a rich, deep texture and you will be able to wear it over anything. This also might make an amazing piece for a bride who needs something to top her dress. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in an ivory silk satin with a hook and eye at the neck and another one just below that and then it is open under that. Some minor marks on the inside and yellowing along the edge of the inner arms. This is cut loose and easy and it should fit a variety of sizes.

Hand Made to Order 1930s John-Fredericks Metallic Gold & Black Woven Evening Bag w Sequin Detailing
I Have a Question
This is one of two incredible made to order custom made bags that I have for you today. They are from the late 1930s, maybe early 1940s period. Each is amazing and were made by John-Frederick. The John part of the label is John Harberger who later became famously known as the milliner behind that famous Mr. John hat company that he started in 1948. The Frederick part of the label was Frederick Hirst who was another famous milliner. John and Frederick formed a partnership in 1929 and they did made to order bags like this. Seeing a hand bag from this partnership is very rare.
The exterior of the bag is woven thin cording and then the cording is covered in gold, black and clear sequins. Hundreds of these cover the bag so that it has a subtle glint in the light. Horizontal rows with the ivory, black and gold are set over the base of the bag. It's almost a square shape that narrows down a little by the top of the bag. The handle is the same fabric and sequin mix. It is a single wide band set across the top of the bag in a slight twist.. There is a zipper that runs across the top with a black ribbon pull and the inner lining is an ivory grain with a zipper inner pocket. It is a one of a kind and a rare piece of history from this time period. Excellent condition
The body of the bag measures 9.5" high x 11" wide. The handle is approx 3.5" thick and the total height of the bag is 14" including the handle when you are holding it.

This is a very pretty piece from Lanvin that will add an instant pop of vintage to any outfit. It is made out of individual shaped metal leafs that are each hooked and attached to its neighbour. They are all actual metal that have been covered in a gold finish and it is so pretty. The front has a tied bow that is also made out of metal and finished in the gold. It hooks to close underneath that bow and the Lanvin logo is etched into one of the bows on the backside. Excellent condition

Prettiest 1960s Pierre Balmain Full Length Fused Velvet in Black Silk Geometric Pattern Skirt
I Have a Question
Pierre Balmain began his career at Molyneux where he worked part-time until 1936. After a brief stint serving in the military he landed at the house of Lucian Lelong. He eventually made the leap to independence and his first show was held on October 12th, 1945 at his salon at rue Francois 1er. This is a skirt that perfectly shows that sometimes the beauty of a piece lies in the restraint of the cut and its simplicity.
The skirt is full length and falls from the waist in a slight A-line to the floor. It is made out of a silk base that has a soft silk cut velvet devore fused into it to create the pattern that you see. The band at the waist gives it structure and it is made out of a black silk organza that has a stiffened fabric in behind. It glides over the hips and then flares out as it nears the hem. There is a more structured silk lining inside and the hem of that inner lining has a band of stiffening all the way around so that it helps to hold and give the skirt a little bit of extra volume and shape once it is on you. The velvet pattern that runs over the skirt is a geometric design that combines open diamonds and jagged rows of vertical lines of velvet. This is an easy way to add a little bit of vintage glamour to your wardrobe and it would pair endlessly with modern pieces for a variety of different looks. Excellent condition with one small note below.
Fully lined in a black silk with lots of detailing finishes inside. It closes with hook and eye over a keyhole at the back. There is a little row of stitches at the inner front waist which is actually a little couture detail even though this is a boutique piece. I see the slightest bit of flattening to the velvet near the seat of a skirt at the back.

Prettiest Spring 1982 Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Haute Couture Sleeveless Ivory Silk & Lace Top
I Have a Question
This pretty little top comes from the spring 1982 Christian Dior Haute Couture collection. This would have been from when Marc Bohan was the Creative Director for the atelier. When hunting for documentation on this we found a photo from that same collection of a variation on this design. You can see that the same combination of the ivory silk and lace were used for it. It was not unusual for a couture client to order pieces made to suit her best and this could be the only one like this that exists. It is very difficult sometime to date separates and I love having this reference photo for the collector.
This is a very pretty little top. That's a wonderful way to add a little piece of Haute Couture to your wardrobe to mix in with modern pieces. It is extremely well made and done completely by hand. It combines a liquid ivory silk, that feels very much like those beautiful bias cuts silks from the 1930s and 40s, with a handmade ivory lace. The silk angles down the front and then a second panel of it is set an a wider angled stripe across the back. The top is sleeveless and the front is scooped. The cut through the body is a bit more towards a box shape so that it is easy to wear and glides over the body. It is completely lined in a fine ivory silk chiffon and its little couture tag is discreetly tucked in along the side seam near the hem. It weighs ounces and is one of those pieces that you just slip on and immediately feel like you've added a little extra something to an outfit. Excellent condition with a couple of minor notes below.
Fully lined in an ivory silk chiffon behind the lace parts and the silk parts are unlined. It is entirely made by hand as per Haute Couture standards. It slips over the head to wear with no closures. I see a little bit of yellowing and grubbiness near the very edge of one arm and there is a tiny repair along an inner seam inside. The lining is attached to the bottom and it seems to curl up just a touch because of it. There are a couple of the teeniest little smudge marks on the silk part. All of these are very tiny and mentioned for accuracy. Please see the photos after the label shot.

I Have a Question
The Wolkenstricker label launched in 1979 and they have been making beautiful cardigans one piece at a time ever since. You can still buy them today and I found one site where modern versions are selling for just under $1700USD. On their site they say (in rough translation thanks to google) that; 'We see knitting as an art and create something extraordinary with every model. We create garments that underlines the personality and attracts attention. The valuable manual work characterizes every cardigan. Creating the cut and the knitting techniques used a garment that excels in quality and execution cannot be compared with normal commerce. Most of our customers never part with their treasures and even inherit them. This is sustainability!' This one is from about the 1980s and is very special and unique.
This one has been done in a deep grey that is very pretty and easy to wear. The actual knit feels like a fine wool so is very hardy and yet soft and has a beautiful strength to it that helps it to retain its shape. The weave is tight and precise and this gives it a feel of substance. I love how all the edges are finished in a mix of red and green detailing pattern. The front has two working tiny pockets on each hip and the two faux knit one above that. One on of the upper 'pockets' there is a spray of hand embroidered flowers that are done in a 3D relief. The lower pockets have a design and green and then that same design is picked up on each sleeve. It closes at the front with what looked to be hand carved antler bones buttons. This one looks to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes down the front with the buttons as shown. It still has an extra button sewn into an inner seam. Entirely made by hand. The knit has some stretch

Wonderful 1980s Moser Deep Grey Colour Hand Knit Cardigan Sweater w Floral Details & Metal Buttons
I Have a Question
The H. Moser label launched in 1928 and they have become known for their Trachten, loden and sports apparel. They became particularly famous after designing tthe original Trachten sweaters worn in The Sound of Music and they still design the all of the costumes for the musical version that still plays to this day at the at the Salzburg State Theatre. The is a hand knit vintage version that is from around the 1980s.
This one is done in a pretty soft grey colour that is very pretty and easy to wear. The actual knit is a mix of a wool and a lambswool so is very hardy and yet soft and has a beautiful strength to it that helps it to retain its shape. It is edged in a deep green knit border and a cable knit detail that runs down each side of the front and down the centre of the back. The front is finished in a row of hand embroidered flowers that trail down each side in pink, white and a pop of yellow to add a little bit of colour. I love how these little flowers give the cardigan and added bit of texture that is fabulous. It closes at the front with little rounded silver metal buttons and I love how each one has a little detailing worked into it. It is the perfect finishing touch. This one looks to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes down the front with the buttons as shows. Entirely made by hand. Tagged a 44. The nip has some stretch

I Have a Question
The Bessi company was launched in 1950 but it was not until 1968 that it started producing the printed pieces that the label is now associated with. Like Pucci he signed all his prints and created them himself. In terms of style, construction and quality, Bessi dresses were often on par with Pucci and Leonard, especially the ones from the late sixties to mid seventies. I have had a dress in this same print and I love seeing it on these as well
Some pieces just make you happy inside when you see them and these pants fit that bill. It is an absolutely gorgeous Bessi piece that is a super easy way to add a little instant pop of vintage into your wardrobe. They are made out of a silk jersey that glides and skims over your body perfectly. This fabric choice makes it extremely comfortable to wear and move in. The waist is banded with one of their signature contrasting prints. The legs are cut wide and straight with a slight flare when they reach the bottom. I love that the bottom is also finished with that band of contrasting print. The colour combination is fabulous. The base is a light purple-blue color with a pretty print done in little pops of different shade of pink. The floral and swirling design covers the entire surface of the pants to work together beautifully. Excellent condition
Unlined and they close with a side zipper and hook an eye at the waist. You could move the hook and eye and snap if needed. It looks like this has been done in the past. The fabric through the body of the pants does have some stretch this is reflected in the hip measurement below.
Waist: 14" flat across from side seam to side seam

I Have a Question
Bill Blass launched his label in 1970 when he bought out the Maurice Rentner label and re-launched it under his own name. Blass was arguably one of the most famous of the American designers. His forte was the ability to mix simple styles with unexpected materials in way that was very flattering to the wearer. These pants are so unusual and must've been a part of a resort or spring line. I absolutely love them.
These are based on a simple fisherman pants that you see in many cultures around the world. You have to wonder if he travelled somewhere and was inspired to make a version for the West. They are made out of a beautiful Indian cotton. The colour of the cotton is a deep blue that then has a blocked pattern done in red and a matte gold on it. This completely covers the pants from top to bottom. As they near the hem of the pants the pattern changes to a horizontal stripe that gets smaller and more intricate. The pattern gets far more dense and anchors the pants. They have no closures. To wear them they are simply tied into place. They are seamed down the center of the body and then along the inner edge of each leg. The outer part of the leg is completely open and this is what allows it to wrap around you. To wear them you hold the front in place and tie it at the back. Then you grab the pant from between the legs and bring it up over the back and tie that in the front. There is enough fabric in the legs that the resulting wrap over at the side keeps you covered. When you walk or move you do get a bit of leg showing at the very bottom. It's extremely simple and ingenious. You can't give Mr. Blass credit for the design but they are a great pair of pants. These would be fantastic to travel with and you can easily dress them up or down because of the print. Excellent condition
Unlined and they tied to wear as described above. They appear to have been worn very little if at all and the wrap does give some flexibility in measurements. These are very hard to measure so I've given approximate laying flat of the material it will cover and then you watch overlap is it wraps around you.
Waist: the fabric on both sides is 29" wide before the ties extend. This makes the waist and hips adjustable
Length: 44.5" from top of bodice to waist
Inseam: 33" from waist to hem
Rise: 13.5" from waist to inner seam

I Have a Question
Hanae was the first woman of Japanese descent to have presented on the Paris and New York runways and the first Asian woman to be admitted as an official Haute Couture house to La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Her work is exceptional. Hanae Mori excelled at these beautiful prints and when I find pieces with one of her floral prints on it I am very happy. This jacket is a great way to easily add a little vintage to your wardrobe.
This is a jacket that you can just slip on over just about anything for a pretty pop of color. It’s made from a black silk crepe that has a bit of texture running over it. The fabric has a slight bit of weight to it. It still light and easy to wear but has just enough weight and substance to drape and fall beautifully once on the body. The base colour is an inky black and then it has those stunningly beautiful flowers scattered over its entire surface. The cut is easy and simple. The silhouette lies somewhere between a swing coat and smocked tent coat. It falls from the yoked shoulders and the way that it is gathered into the shoulder is what lets if fall in those soft rounded drapings. The sleeves are cut wide to poof above the buttoned cuffs. There is an attached tie at the neck that extends out from the collar. You can just loop it as I have done for the ties to hang long or you can tie it into a pretty bow. There is one single button at the neck and then it's open under that. You could also belt this for a completely different feel. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a black chiffon through the body and the sleeves are unlined. It closes with a snap at the top of the neck and there are two fabric covered buttons on each cuff. The tie at the neck is attached and extends out from the collar. The open fit through the body should allow it to fit a range of sizes

I Have a Question
This is such a pretty and intricately done jacket by Victoria Royale. It is made of a slightly deeper red chiffon that is flattering on most skin tones. Onto that is an intricate pattern that combines silver tube beads with faux pearls. The silver beads cover the entire jacket and are set in a scattered pattern so that they catch the light from every angle. Faux pearls are clustered onto the jacket with most of them on the shoulders and the top of the sleeves and then other clusters trail down to the hem. More pearls create a border around all of the edges. They are set so that they follow around the neck line, run down the front and then go all the way around the hem and circle each cuff. It has a single hook at the top of the neck. Gorgeous. Excellent condition.

Beautiful Fall 2003 Christian Dior by John Galliano Black Lace Jacket Top w Velvet Trim
I Have a Question
This gorgeous top or jacket is from the Fall 2003 Dior Boutique Collection and is a staggeringly beautiful example of the work John Galliano was doing during this time. In the shops you had the option to buy a matching skirt that had a transparent panel at the bottom. I've seen the set available in black, red and a green and maybe the new owner of this one might one day hunt down the skirt now that they know. My client only purchased the top at the time as they were available separately. As a stand alone piece its spectacular. It is the kind of thing that you can pair with just about anything. It would work with a sleek pair of pants, wide pants, long skirt, short skirt. You can layer things under it or layer things over it and it can easily go from top to jacket depending on how you style it. The body the jacket is made of an open weave black lace that has a floral pattern running through it. It is very beautiful and this bit of transparency against bare skin is both stunning and sexy. The front is dropped into a low V and there's a single button at the waist to hold it into place. It is meant to fit the body and it curves in at the waist and over the hips once on. At the back it's gathered and ruched at the low back to help create that shape through the waist. The sleeves are long and each ends with a cuff of black velvet. This black velvet edging is also used to create the pretty collar and continues all the way down and around the hips. It is gorgeous. When the skirt is present as a set this is sold for well over double what I'm asking for this top. So if you do find the skirt you've already made a solid return on your investment. Excellent condition

Exceptional 1980s Oscar de la Renta Black Velvet & Metallic Gold Cord Applique Jacket
I Have a Question
This one of the most gorgeous jackets from Oscar de la Renta I have had in the shop. It has this fabulous high glamour feel to it because of the gold cording that is applied extensively over its surface. It is made out of a beautiful inky black velvet. Just enough weight to hold the shape but it still light enough that it feels supple and soft once on. It has a simple cut and slips on to wear with a series of hook and eye that starts just above the waist and goes now to just above the hem. Define is high and neat with a simple color. Above the straight cut sleeves there is light padding for structure under a slightly puffed capped shoulder. The applique work on it is amazing. It combines a metallic gold cord that is set in an extensive and intricate pattern over the entire jacket. Mixed in with this are little gold dome studs that highlight the collar, run down the front and then circle the hem and each cuff. As good as it looks in the photos it is even better in real life. And I love that the appliqué work is as intricate on the sleeves and back as it is on the front. It is fabulous and looks like it has never been worn or worn very little. Excellent condition

Gorgeous 1970s Christian Dior by Frederic Castet Rich Brown-Black Fur Coat w Tie Belt
I Have a Question
I have held this in my archives for several years now and I think that it is a stunning example of the fur pieces being produced at this point in Dior's history. This time period was known as the 'Golden Age' for the Dior fur division. Frederic Castet was appointed the head of the division after joining Dior in 1953. He single handedly restructured the fourrure department to follow the haute couture and the prêt-à-porter philosophy of the house in 1968. He was one of the first to treat fur like fabric and would dye it, trim it, pluck it and create whimsical fantasy pieces that had never been see prior. His presentations were held on the second floor of the Dior mansion on Avenue Montaigne. They were as wanted a ticket as the couture shows were and they were legendary in terms of the extravagant spectacles that he would put on to showcase his work. His work was worn by all the major stars from Sophia Loren to Elizabeth Taylor.
The color of the fur is a rich deep chocolate that is so dark that at first glance it almost appears to be a black. Underneath the undercoat is thick and plush with an almost reddish cast to it which is remarkable. I am not 100% sure what type of fur it is but it is very soft, supple and shiny. The coat is pieced together in a series of rows set vertically through the bodice and back and then horizontally for the skirt and sleeves. This gives the coat a subtle pattern that is lovely. It is cut in an almost trench coat style with a flared bottom that gives it some movement and shape. Big silver metal buttons run in a double row down the front. Slanted pockets sit on each hip and and it has its original matching tie belt that you can cinch to give the coat shape. The sleeves are wide and the collar is oversized and frames the face beautifully. You just slip it on and tie the belt and it has this great easy slouchy feel to it. Excellent condition with a minor note below
Fully lined in a black silky satin and closes with the buttons down the front and has an attached tie inside. Slip pockets on each hip and one hidden along the inside edge at the front. Matching tie belt. There is slight wear at some of the common points. The edges of the sleeves, pockets and along the front edges but it is very minor.

I have a small collection of historically important, key designer labelled vintage furs, fur trimmed & feather pieces stored away in my archives that I will be slowly posting on the site over the next couple of years until I have none left. I will no longer be buying furs for the shop moving forward and have not purchased anything for several years now. I feel like times have changed and while there still is a place for vintage furs for some, including collectors and historians, many modern girls are choosing other options. Many of the pieces in my collection are representative of the designer during a set time period in history that was different then our modern outlook. I have decided that the best course to handle this controversial issue is to let the pieces I have go rather then sit in a cold storage unit. I Have a Question
This Givenchy coat is made from a very unusual fabric combination for its time period. The underlying fabric is structured and almost feels like a coated felted canvas fabric. These are set in angled rows with diamond shapes top stitched in different directions. Interspersed with those are diamond shaped clusters of a deep brown-black faux fur. This combination makes for this fantastic patchwork feel and gives the coat an unusual finishing texture that is very tactile and 3 dimensional. It is hard to describe but when you have it in your hands you will agree that it is very unique. The fabric choice is also what gives it its structured feel and shape. More faux fut circles the neat and small collar and then runs down the front edges and circles around the hem. Each sleeves ends in a cuff of that faux fur. It wraps over itself and closes at the front with a hidden hook and eye. This gives it a bit of shape through the waist when you wear it closed. I also love that having it close this way keeps it from having any buttons or zippers showing that would break the line of the coat. It skims over the bust and hips and then flares out to the hem. It is very well made with a deep brown silk lining inside and hand finishes. It is absolutely gorgeous in person and even better than it looks in the photos. And it has pockets. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little. Excellent condition

Gorgeous 1980s Christian Dior 'Teddy Bear Soft Thick Faux Fur Swing Tent Flare Coat
I Have a Question
I have held this in my archives for several years now and I think that it is a stunning example of the faux fur pieces being produced at this point in Dior's history. By the 1980s he was doing extravagant presentations that only showcased his furs and had delved into faux furs as well. This coat is just incredible.
The coat is made out of a faux made to look like a sheared sheepskin that has been brushed out so that is is soft and fluffy. It feels like what we now refer to as Teddy Bear coats. The color is that perfect soft camel color that will work with anything. It is a little bit paler in real life then how it photoed and the camera has added a bit of shadow. The colour is very even and pale in person and even better then how it looks here. The faux fur is very soft and thick. It is cut in a classic swing style with a flared bottom. Two large hand carved wood buttons sit at the neck and there are no other closures. Pockets are hidden along a seam on each hip. The sleeves are cut wide and full and there is a wide fold up cuff on each one. The collar is also big and full but it is set back away from the neck a bit so it doesn't feel bulky. It is a stunning piece. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a brown silk that is embroidered with the Dior logo throughout. It closes with the buttons at the neck. Pockets on each hip. I see no bald spots or shedding, the coat is supple and soft. The easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes. It has a decent weight to it

I Have a Question
Christian LaCroix launched his Haute Couture house in 1987 after his 1986 collection for jean Patou made him a star. Many attribute him with making modern couture inspirational again when it was considered a dying art by many during this time period. When he did launched his own label his strong aesthetic took the world by storm. His collections were lavish affairs and his designs seemed to span the decades with their eccentric glamour pulled from multiple sources of inspiration. This top is from the Spring 2006 collection. On the runway it was shown with a more transparent lining. This version is a little easier to wear and it is absolutely gorgeous.
The workmanship on this top is absolutely exquisite. The top is entirely hand made as the parameters of Haute Couture define. I love the extensive embroidery that covers the exterior. The level of workmanship is extraordinary. The top is made from a layer of ivory silk netting over and inner silk. The netting is embroidered with the intricate pattern that completely covers the entire top. I love the mix of the ivory stitches and then the stark pops of white thread to highlight parts of the patter, The workmanship is extensive and the time it would have taken to create this piece is extraordinary. The top is sleeveless and has a scooped neckline. It is cut easy through the body and flares out as it nears the scalloped hem. The bow at the front is decorative and it has a more skimming cut them the fitted under the bust feel that you see on the runway. It is an absolute work of art and a stunning example of Haute Couture during this time period. Excellent condition
Backed in an ivory silk and closes down the back with a series of hidden, hand set snaps. Entirely made by hand and it appears to have been worn very little if at all.

I Have a Question
This is a gorgeous little jacket that is most likely from the late fifties and it still feels as chic now as it would have then! The jacket is made out of a light weight fine silk that has a touch of texture running through it. It has a pretty cut with a more blousy feel through the top and then then waist nips in a bit with a seam. There is a narrow peplum under the waist seam that flares out for a pretty shape. The sleeves are slightly cropped and cut more straight and wide. I love the flat silk covered buttons and the decorative little flaps that sit on either side of the front. The collar is rounded and neat. Detailing the edge of the collar all the way around are little hand covered silk balls that are set so they dangle off the edge and move when you move. The inside is lined in a black silk and it is just a darling little vintage piece. Very well made. Excellent condition.

This is a great cape. Its a more recent piece from Balanciaga and it is such a statement piece. The cape is made from a felted wool mix that has a soft and fuzzy finish on the exterior. It is almost like a plush toy in feel and really different. It has some weight to it because there are yards and yards of fabric in there. The colour is an amazing shade of a brilliant bright green. The camera did not catch it to its full brightness and it is more vivid in person. It is so easy to wear. You just slip it over your shoulders and it drapes in place. Long panels extend out from the neck and you can wrap they around you and there is a soft hood at the back. near the front edge on both side there are big soft pockets. Its just fabulous. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition.

I Have a Question
This is a great little jacket. I had one of these on the shop years ago and was pleased to have another come my way. Moschino pieces always have a bit of quirkiness to them and this one is no exception. It is cut in a traditional motorcycle style of jacket that you normally would see done in a black leather. It closes with a large zipper that is set off-side down the front and I love the little heart embossed zip pull on the zipper. There are three zipped pockets and a little flap pocket all set on the front and they are all functional. Instead of leather is is made from a faux patent that is done in a beautifully brilliant blue color. It is gorgeous. Moschino logo embossed snaps are the perfect finishing detail. You could wear this over just about anything from jeans to a ballgown and get an instant bright pop of colour. The faux patent leather is light in weight and pliable so its super comfortable on. Excellent condition

claude montana
Rare Fall 1989 Claude Montana Runway Baby Blue Sheared Fur Jacket w Dramatic Wrap Front
I Have a Question
Claude Montana designed for strong woman and his padded shoulders and sculpted silhouettes were one of the hallmarks of the 1980s. By 1989 he was at the height of his career. He was not only designing his own label to much accolades but was asked to design couture for Lanvin of which he did 5 seasons. This is a remarkable little piece from my archives that I refused to give up until we found documentation of and at last we have. I love having these runway shots for you so that you can see just how remarkable this is once on the body.
Montana's relationship with colour is on full display in this gorgeous little jacket. It is made of a sheared fur that is ultra soft and still supple. The fur has been dyed to a beautiful delicate pale baby blue with a hint of turquoise in it. The photos come close to the colour but in person it is better and the turquoise feel of it is a touch stronger. There is also this effect of a slight change of colour depending on how the fur catches the light that gives it a depth that the camera does not quite capture. It is the most clever design. It is cut short to almost bolero style and then there are two straps that extend across the chest and hook on place. Two wide panels extend out on either side below that and you take these, cross them and wrap around to the back where they hook into place. This creates a dramatic collar to frame the face. Adding to the drama are those incredible bell sleeves. Each sleeves comes out directly from the side of the jacket and then flares out. By the time they reach the bottom hem of each sleeve they are a full 30" around. I have included a photo of it open so that you can see the closures underneath and added a couple of other ways you could potentially wrap and style the front panels. It is stunning. Excellent condition with one note below
Fully lined an a turquoise silk and closes with the hooks as described above and shown. One fur hook is missing off of the wider extended panel. The loop is on the other piece but the hook is missing. The fur is very soft and supple. The open cut let it work on my dress form that has a 29" bust and it also fit the one with a 40" around bust and still had a bit of room.

I Have a Question
I love these Yves Saint Laurent sequin tops. They are from the Fall 195 collection and we found a runway shot of one variation in the same blue as this one. They can in several length and different sleeve lengths. I have had this exact piece in red in the shop before and I was thrilled to have this gorgeous blue one come into my hands. These are getting harder to find so I grab them whenever I can. They are so versatile. The sequins say evening and the cut says casual so you can really play on that and wear it with a zillion different things. The color of the blue sequins is amazing and every square inch of the piece is finished with them. The neckline is slightly scooped and set wide across the neck which allows for a little bit of skin to show on the top of your shoulders. The shoulders are set to feel slightly slouchy with a touch of padding in them for shape. That easy feel carries through the body of the top. It almost feels like a glam sweatshirt in the way that it sits once on. The sleeves are wide at the top and narrow to the cuff and the body of the tunic dress is cut to skim over the body in an easy relaxed way. The sequins are a brilliant blue colour and in person the color is even better then how it photoed. I love the detailing around the cuff of each sleeve and the bottom hem. It creates the impression of a ribbed sweater but this is all actually done with hand placed tube beads and sequins running in horizontal rows. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a blue silk chiffon and slips on to wear with no closures. Light padding in each shoulder and each cuff closes with a series of hidden set snaps. Hand finishes. A smaller frame could wear it in a more slouchy oversized look.

I Have a Question
I love these little velvet jackets that Pucci designed. They are very versatile and an easy way to add a pop of vintage into a modern wardrobe. The jacket is cut to perfectly work as a layering piece and because it buttons all the way up it can play double duty and can be worn on its own as a top. The fabric choice holds the colors exceptionally well and it gives them an extra layer of richness and texture. This one is a stunning mix of rustic tans, oranges and ivories mixed with a bold blue. The print combines various flowers that cover the entire the jacket. It has a small and neat collar and the cut skims the body to just over the hip. A contrasting printed border runs down the front and around the hem. It then details the collar and circles the French cuffs and hem. At the back there is a huge detailed print that just screams Pucci. This color combination is unusual and I love it. Great overall condition with notes below.
Fully lined in an ivory silk and closes with matching velvet covered buttons down the front. Each cuff buttons to close with french cuff buttons. Hand finished. There is discoloration primarily under one arm of the interior silk. Please see the final photo. The other just has a tiny spot. Some grubbiness to the velvet here and there that are minor. Grubbiness at the edge of the inside collar. No label but it is marked Pucci throughout the fabric. Priced with these in mind.

I Have a Question
I love these velvet Pucci jackets and this one is great. It is cut with a slightly longer cut that most of the ones I have had pass through my hands and this makes it even more versatile to use as a layered jacket piece. That said it does zipper all the way up the front so you can also wear it on its own as a top so it is that much more versatile. His velvet pieces have an extra layer of richness and texture to them because of the luxurious fabric choice. Plus, nothing held his vibrant colors like his velvet pieces did. This one is a stunning and vibrant mix of a wild mix of colours that includes almost every bright colour he ever did. There are a variety of prints too and the print is laid out in blocks that each have its own print within. This covers the entire jacket and makes it one bright wonderful piece. It has a neat collar made of attached piped pieces that curve around the neck and the cut skims the body to just past the hip. A contrasting printed border finishes the button front, cuffs and hem. It zips to close at the front and the inside has a bright vivid green lining. This color combination is just wonderful and its a real little find. Great overall condition with a note below
Fully lined in a green silk and closes with a double zipper down the front. Each cuff buttons to close with velvet covered buttons. The zipper looks like a replacement and I suspect the lining was also replaced at some point. There are some small spots that are scattered over the velvet here and there. Priced with these in mind.

I Have a Question
The Spring 2005 Prada show is one of the label's most iconic and recognizable. In her review of the show, Vogue's Sarah Mower stated: "Just when the whole fashion world has turned ladylike—thanks, of course, to Miuccia Prada—she's tossed it all in the air, looking for a certain freedom." I wanted to move toward something more young and sporty, tall and narrow" she stated.... In broad terms, the news from Prada included a different silhouette (short hemlines, worn mostly with flat sandals), a return to one of her favorite palettes (brown-ochre-rust), and as always, lots of artful eccentricity. There was also a Jamaican dance hall vibe, with reggae on the sound system, Rasta stripes in the knitwear, and Caribbean crochet in the raffia hats and cardigan coats." This is one of the striped skirts from that collection and it is wonderful.
This is the twin of the skirt that walked the runway for Look 35 and it is instantly recognizable as being Prada. With this one we see her masterful hand at mixing colour. The colours on the skirt are just extraordinary it combines a bright orange collar with deep purple toned bands. The result is this brilliant burst of colour that is just wonderful to see. It is made from a very fine silk with a finish that gives it a slight sheen. This fabric choice helps to hold the shape and volume. It is more fitted around the upper hips and then it is perfectly pleated with wide knife pleats that have sharply defined edges and deep folds. This gives the skirt lots of movement and shape. It is just gorgeous. The silk is light in weight and all of the shape and structure is created by the precise pleating. It is fabulous. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition with one minor note below
Unlined and closes with a hidden set side zipper. Tagged a Prada 40. I see one pinhead sized for on the fabric near the waist and there is a tiny hole in the fabric that is on an inside pleat so not seen them worn. Please see the photo after the label shot

I Have a Question
This skirt is a near version of Looks 27 and 33 from the runway and one also appeared in the ad campaign that year. The reviews for this season were stellar. Vogue.com said of this collection: "Audiences always arrive at Prada shows tingling with anticipation, braced for Miuccia Prada's next departure from the last season's plot. This time, she confounded expectation again, not by taking off in a new direction, but by developing the cache of ideas layered into her spring collection. "It was a dream of extreme romanticism," she said. "The idea of eighteenth-century painting, with video games. A romanticism between past and future."
This is one of those pieces that reference the idea of an eighteenth century painting and it still feels as special now as it did then. Pieces from this collection sold out worldwide and were waitlisted everywhere. It is an incredible testament to her ability to take the past and make it feel fresh. The skirt is made from one of her signature smooth finished silks that has a slight sheen-like finish to it. It was then dyed to a silvery grey and .then that magnificent washed feeling waiting was screened on the surface. It is more fitted around the waist and then falls outwards to widen out by the time it reaches the hem. There are soft pleats worked around the hem to help give it the volume you see and to make the slightest suggestion a bubble hem. This also gives the skirt lots of movement and shape. It is just gorgeous. It is a very easy way to work a string statement into your wardrobe. It would work equally as well for day or the evening. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. I Have a Question
The Char label is one of the best of the hand made leather goods labels from the sixties and seventies. It has a cult like following because of the quality and sheer fabulousness of their pieces. Char made these pieces from approx 1968 to about 1975-76 in Mexico. Some of the best leather craftsman in the world were there at the time and the pieces they made are fantastic.
This skirt is wonderful and an excellent example of their work. They hand-dyed their leathers and suedes using colours that instantly make you think of the desert. They loved to use a combination of suede and leather that they hand cut and whip-stitched into place to make up their creations. This is a wonderful example of their work. It is a wrap skirt that has been made to create a patchwork landscape scene that goes all the way around the entire skirt. Each part of the design was individually cut and then pieced together to create the design that you see. Everything would have had to have been pre-planned and the and for would have taken many hours to complete. To wear it you simple wrap and tie it in place with the rawhide ties. It is a very unusual piece and its gorgeous too. Excellent condition with a minor note below
Unlined, hand made and whip-stitched. It closes with a leather ties. At some point someone added a series of hooks and one of them has stitching that you see form the front. You could easily adjust the hooks and ties to fit a variety of sizes. I have given the measurements of the back seam to seam but you can easily go up or down a couple inches in either direction. It shows normal patina for leather of this age with the occasional scuff and wear that just adds to its authentic vintage feel. Please see the last photo for the most apparent spot on it.

This is sustainability!' I have two vintage ones from the 1980s today and each is very special and unique.
This one has been done in a deep moss green that is then mixed with pretty pink flowers. It is very pretty and easy to wear. The actual knit is a mix of a cotton and silk so is very hardy and yet soft and has a beautiful strength to it that helps it to retain its shape. I love how the edges of the cuffs and hem are finished in a jagged knit pattern. Then the entire neckline is finished in a panel of hand embroidered flowers that circle around the collar. Each sleeve has another spray of flowers at its cuff and the two tiny pockets that sit on the front are also finished with flowers. The flowers are very prominent off the knit and just lovely to see. The body of the cardigan is finished with little 3D knots that are scattered over the entire thing. This added bit of texture is fabulous. It closes at the front with little engraved metal buttons and I love how each one has been secured with a 'W' in a matching thread. It is the perfect finishing touch. This one looks to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition

I Have a Question
Jacques Fath showed his first collection of just twenty garments in the spring of 1937. It was received well and he steadily built a strong clientele, eventually expanding into America. The label was shuttered in 1957 after Fath's death three years earlier. In 1992 the label was revived and for the next ten years or so continued to present runway collections. This dress is from that period in the 1990s and is a wonderful piece. It has a definitive nod to Fath's earlier work with its high Hollywood drama. It is fabulous.
This is a wonderful cropped feather cape that is quite wonderful. The color of the feathers is a pale and pretty soft ivory. It hooks at the neck and then simply falls over the shoulders to wear. The neckline is quite high so that it frames the face beautifully. I love the short cropped cut to it and the way the feathers are set in distinct rows with a border of feathers around that to add a little interest and contrast. The choice of the soft down feathers gives it a pillow soft feel and makes it very romantic and feminine. It has that bit of a old Hollywood feel to it and the length means it can top just above anything from jeans to a full on wedding look. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a matching ivory silk organza set by hand and hooks at the neck to close. There is a slight bit of grubbiness to the feathers here and there but it is very minor. The easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.
Neck: to 20" from hook to hook
Length: approx 16" from neck to hem including feathers

Wonderful 1980s Wolkenstricker Natural Linen Flax Colour Hand Knit Cardigan Sweater w Floral Details
This is sustainability!' I have two vintage ones from the 1980s today and each is very special and unique.
This one is a colour that reminds me of the colour of a natural linen flax. It is very pretty and easy to wear. Really the perfect neutral. The actual knit is a mix of a cotton and silk so is very hardy and yet soft and has a beautiful strength to it that helps it to retain its shape. It is edged in a baby blue and has a tie running through the neckline in that same blue. The entire neckline is finished in a wide panel of hand embroidered flowers that circle all the way around the back. Each sleeve has another spray of flowers at its cuff. I love the little 3D flowers that are scattered over the entire cardigan. This added bit of texture is fabulous. It closes at the front with little hand carved MOP buttons and I love how each one has been secured with a 'W' in a matching thread. It is the perfect finishing touch. This one looks to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes down the front with the buttons as shows. A tie at the neck that is mainly decorative. It still has an extra button sewn into an inner seam. Entirely made by hand.

I Have a Question
This is one of three tops that my client had made about 15 years ago using a combination of new with antique / vintage fabrics and detailing from various vintage and early era pieces that were beyond repair or found as fragments. Each is a one off and the only one like it ever made. This one uses a black silk fabric for the body of the top. The top is cut into an easy to wear sleeveless tank that you just slip over the head to wear and hook at the back of the neck above the keyhole there. The back falls in a sleek and easy line and then the front has an applied panel to give it a tuxedo feel at the front. Hand applied to that front bib detail is a fantastic found netting that has been stitched into stripes and then an early bit of antique lace is hand applied over that. A little rounded collar of vintage silk in a cream is the perfect finish. Her tailor was couture trained and all three of these tops are beautifully made. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear with a hook at the back of the neck. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little. The loose and easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

Each is a one off and the only one like it that was ever made. This one uses a vintage silk kimono fabric for the body of the top. The fabric is a pebbled texture finished silk and is just fantastic. The top is cut into an easy to wear long sleeve top or jacket that you just snap to close down the front. The main part of the top is made from the kimono fabric and then there are parts of an antique kimono applied to that. The applied parts are amazing and have a heavy 3D feel with their golden metal threads and heavy embroidery. These are hand applied to the front and on one shoulder at the back. It is very soft and easy to wear and slouches on the dress form and will sit even better on an actual body. It is the perfect topper so just about anything. I Have a Question
The construction on this coat is wonderful. The Marty Modell label was out of Switzerland and they produced well made higher end pieces that were sold in select salons around the world. They are very well made pieces and this one is a greta example of their work
The choice of the black silk jacquard fabric that the coat is made out of makes it very easy to wear for multiple occasions. It would have been considered a formal evening piece during its time period but now a modern girl could wear almost anything with it. It is made from a high end black silk brocade that has some weight and structure to it. This allows it to keep that wonderful shape that you see. The cut of the coat is very simple and elegant. The collar is high and neat and cut more on the wide side. This frames the face perfectly and gives it a bit of that Balenciaga funnel neck feel. Where it closes at the neck there is a small and neat flat bow for detailing and then there are two large fabric covered buttons under that. The sleeves are straight and end at the elbow for that perfect feel of this time period. Under the buttons the coat swings open and is quite wide and full by the time it reaches the hem. The photos don't quite convey the volume it has and the generous cut through the body. It will fall much much better on an actual person. It is very beautiful. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a fine black silk and closes with the two buttons at the front and two hidden snaps under the bow at the neck. It is a light-medium weight. Hand finished. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. The loose and easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

Each is a one off and the only one like it ever made. This one uses a pale lavender silk chiffon fabric for the body of the top and it comes with a matching silk tank that you wear underneath for coverage since the top layer has a touch of transparency to it. The colour in person is far better then how it photoed and has a more soft true purple feel. The top is cut into an easy to wear classic T shape that you just slip over the head to wear and that layers over the inner tank. Hand applied to the front is a fantastic found hand beaded floral piece from the twenties. This is set to run across the front of the top and adds such beauty to the piece. I love that the edges of the net that surround the beadwork was left for a bit of a deconstructed feel. Her tailor was couture trained and all three of these tops are beautifully made. I Have a Question
This is an incredible cropped fur jacket and the workmanship is of the best possible quality. The design is typical of the furs being produced during this time period and this one is exceptional. It would definitely been a high end piece and the quality it was made with still shows even after some 65 odd years later. It is made from a dark natural mink. The pelts are still very soft and supple and have a bit of a reddish undertone to them in certain lights. It is cut with rounded shoulder and an almost cape like feel through the body. Each sleeve is wide and full. It has been constructed from rows of the fur that are interspersed with rows of a black braided silk cording. The cording has its own incredible pattern worked through it and the final effect is beautiful. The collar is set high and wider across the neck. It is a beauty and a stunning vintage fur. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a deep brown silk and closes at the front with covered fur hooks. Hidden pocket along one inner seams edge and has the original owns name subtly embroidered on the interior lining. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. The easy cut should fit a range of sizes

I have a small collection of historically important, key designer labelled vintage furs and fur trimmed pieces stored away in my archives that I will be slowly posting on the site over the next couple of years until I have none left. Fur coats are final sale.
I Have a Question
Turnbull & Asser was founded in 1885 by Messrs Regan Turnbull who was a hosier and Ernest Asser whose background was in sales. The original London shop focused on men's hosiery. They soon expanded to meet the needs of their wealthy clients and offered a bespoke service for the making of gentlemen’s clothes. In 1895 they changed their name to “Turnbull & Asser”. They have a long and lustrous history and still operate to this day. This is a men's piece but is slim cut and works for any gender. In the 1950s The Gentleman’s Magazine described the smoking jacket as: “A kind of short robe de chambre, of velvet, cashmere, plush, merino or printed flannel, lined with bright colours, ornamented with brandenbourgs, olives or large buttons.” This one is in immaculate conditon. The company still makes versions of these today with new one's being several thousand dollars. It is very difficult to date this since they have made versions of them since the 1920s and this one is so perfect. It does feels older though and is in perfect condition
The jacket is made from a black velvet that is as deep a black as you can get. It has a slim cut and the shoulders are sharp and tailored. Each sleeve is cut on a slight curve to follow the shape of the arm in the proper tailoring manner. It flares out slightly as it nears the hem and the interior is lined with a crisp white silk satin that is hand set. Pockets sit on each hip and I love the piping detailing on the flap of each. The collar runs down to the waist and is set with a contrasting and more matted ribbed silk. Braiding edges the collar and extends down the front edges. The jacket closes with huge front frog knots made of the same black braided cording. I love that you can literally close the knots to either side depending on which is more comfortable. I assume this was done originally to accommodate both left and right handed gentleman. It is fabulous and a great find. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a white silk satin and closes with the fron braided loops and knots. Light padding in each shoulder and pockets on each hip. It looks to have never been worn or worn very little.

yves saint laurent
Fabulous 1980s Yves Saint Laurent Oversized Metallic Bronze Quilted & Fur Trimmed Jacket
I Have a Question
This jacket is from the Yves Saint Laurent variation line which was an experimental lower priced lined that last for a short time period during the 80s. Most of the pieces you see from it are not what I look for from his work on a day to day basis but this jacket had such great lines I could not resist picking it up. There was just something so young and fresh about it and it is really in par with the regular label snd what he did in the couture line for this type of look that I decided to make an exception. It is quite fabulous actually.
The cut of the jacket is magnificent and it has all the fullness and impact of its more couture counterparts. The cut through the body is very full and meant to b oversized. Each sleeve is also cut to be incredibly full and then narrows down a bit as it reaches the cuff. The body of the coat is made from a deep copper coloured nylon that has a bit of a metallic finish to it. This is then lightly padded inside and cross quilted so you get a bit of a puff jacket feel. The neck line is high and it has no closures down the front. It simply settles into place after slipping it on. There are pockets on each hip. To give it more of a wow factor it has been edged in a deep dark shaved fur that I believe is shaved fox. This runs round the neck and then down the front to curve all the way around the hem. Each sleeve ends in a ring of the same fur. The fur has an added bit of texture created by cleverly shaving it into the pattern that you see. Inside it is fully lined in the fur as well except for the sleeves that have an inner quilted lining. I love the contrast between the metallic colour and the statement the fullness of the jacket makes. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in the same fur as the exterior detailing with the sleeves finished in a quilted lining. It has no closures at the front and just slips on to wear. Pockets on each side. Padding in the shoulders. It appears to have been worn very little, if at all. It is meant to be worn oversized
Sleeves: 23"
Shoulders: have padding and extend beyond the natural shoulder so will work on a range
Bust: to 24" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist-hips: 26" flat across from side seam to side seam
Length: 29" from neck to hem

I Have a Question
This little coat is wonderful. The cut of this coat has that perfect 1970s vibe. It is simple and sleek so that the brilliant colour that it has been done in can take centre stage. It is cut with a classic double button front, straight sleeves and is fairly straight cut through the body with just a suggestion of shape through the waist. It skims over the torso and falls in a slim silhouette to just under the knee depending on your height. All of the edges are top stitched and this adds the perfect little touch of detailing to the coat. The buttons are the same colour and I love the little top stitched flap pockets on each hip. The collar has the slightly oversized rounded notch shape that was done so perfectly during this time period. The colour is the best part and in person it is even better then how it photoed. It's wonderful. Excellent condition
Fully lined through the body in a pink coloured silk satin and closes with the buttons you see at the front. Pockets on each hip that are functional. There is the faintest lightest bit of darkening near the front hem but you really have to look for it and it is only visible in certain light

Jerry Sorbara is considered to be one fo the best furriers in the US. At 22 he started with another famous furrier, Ben Kahn. It was 1961 and the pieces he designed soon developed a following. In 1962 he started to push the envelope in the well established fur field when he convinced Kahn to let him start dying furs. By 1975 he was such an integral part of the company that he asked for a partnership and when he was laughed at, he walked out and started his own label. Jackie Onassis, Muhammad Ali, Anna Nicole Smith and Elizabeth Taylor were clients. Furs ranged from $8000 to over $50,000 and that was in the 1980s. Jerry said in an interview once “We always like to take our time and get things right. I try to make coats with no excuses. My coats, they have to be the best. And they are the best.”
This is an insane and generously cut white Mongolian fur jacket that dates to the late 1970s, early 1980s and is absolutely fabulous. I have seen many the Mongolian fur jackets but to find one that still a bright and gorgeous shade of white is special. Normally they tend to be a more creamy ivory but this one a gorgeous brighter white. It is also a bit more special because it is cut to a longer length. That past the hip length and the sheer joy of its shagginess makes for quite the dramatic statement piece. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little and is in very good condition. The cut will work on a smaller frame to feel more over-sized, while the actual measurements will allow for a fuller framed girl to also carry it off. I love the big oversized collar and that is has soft felt line pockets. It is gorgeous. Excellent condition
Fully lined with a white silky rayon. No closures. It has a touch of a vintage fur storage smell to it. The easy cut should fit a range of sizes

This is an exceptional example of upcycling. This is a custom made coat that utilizes the fabric from the traditional Tehuantepec embroidered cloth. Those original textiles are absolutely beautiful examples of Mexican textile art. They were hand woven and were part of the traditional dress from the Tehuantepec area of Oaxaca. Frida Kahlo was known to wear pieces with this embroidered work on them. All of the embroidered parts to the coat that you see are from that traditional and original fabric. The workmanship is incredible and it is a stunning example of the art of Mexican textiles.
The coat is gorgeous. The back and front are made of large panels of the embroidered fabric. The colours are amazing. Bright vivd corals are mixed with greens and yellow and red. In between the embroidery is a soft purple velvet. The purple is then picked up by the more modern wool jersey that makes up the sleeves and the bottom hem of the coat. The solid colour anchors the bright mix on the body and gives it a more modern feel. The coat is easy to wear with it skimming over the body cut. The shoulders drop slightly into the sleeves and there is no collar to deter from the embroidery. It closes down the front with a series of fabric covered snaps so that when it is closed the line of the embroidery is not broken up. It is generously cut through the body so should work on a range of sizes and body types. It is the perfect and easy to wear jacket that adds an instant pop of happy colour to your day mixed with a stunning example of early hand made textiles. Excellent condition

I Have a Question
The Western world in the twenties to the sixties had a special fascination with the Far East and this highly influenced the fashion of that time period. Japan and China began to export and sell pieces made specifically for the tourist market that combined classic design elements of those respective cultures with a slight western twists to the cut and colours. These embroidered jackets where amongst the most prized and this one is a stunning black silk one embroidered with absolutely brilliant colors. You will often see the shorter ones cropped to hit at the hip but I am always on the lookout for these longer ones. They are harder to find and when you do find one it is an absolute brilliant piece to add to your closet. They are an instant jolt of colour and craft and can be flung over everything from jeans to a ball gown. This one is stunning and made from a high grade fine black silk that is then completely covered with the embroidery that you see. All of the embroidered work is done in a wash of absolutely brilliant colours. The pattern embroidered onto the silk is primarily flowers but there are also bright colourful birds worked through the design. It is exquisite. It is also lovely and light in weight which makes it easy to wear. The shoulders are soft and the body is cut loose and generously. Front pockets sit on each hip and it closes down the front with a series of frog knots. I love it. Excellent condition

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly. This garment has been professionally cleaned, pressed and is odor free. Thoroughly checked over before shipping, it will be ready to wear upon arrival.
I Have a Question
This is a stunning example of the fur pieces being produced during this time period. This was the beginning of the movement of treating fur more like a fabric and making coats that had far more style to them then the previous norm. It is made from alternating strips of a deep brown mink, an ivory mink and then a dark brown leather that is so deep in colour it picks up as black against the other two. The fur is supple, shiny and very soft. The fur is set in on angled chevron rows with the bands of leather in between. This creates an incurable visual effect. It is cut in a classic sixties cut that flares out as it reaches the bottom hem. Each sleeves widens out to a flare finish at the cuff and I love how the pattern is taken down right to the ends of each sleeve. The collar is notched and made from the darker mink and this then runs down the front and around the hem to anchor the angled pattern. It does up with textured black dome buttons at the front. Pockets sit along the edge of the seams at each hip. It has been properly stored and cared for and appears to have been worn very little if at all. No splitting, issues or shedding. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a deep brown silk satin and closes with buttons down the front. Pockets on each hip. I see no bald spots or shedding. The pelts are supple and soft. The fur has the slightest bit of a vintage storage smell. Very minor. It is still supple and is stable with no signs of any shedding that would indicate that it is breaking down.
