Fall 2005's collection was called "The Man Who Knew Too Much". The Alexander McQueen site says of this collection:

"For the second time in his career, Alexander McQueen references The Birds for this collection a film that he remembers loving as a child principally because of the precise way in which the women featured choose to dress. Against a film-set backdrop flooded with red light models stride out in swing coats, pencil skirts, neat, cropped trousers and fitted chunky mohair all of which suit a modern-day Hitchcock heroine down to the ground. Given the source of inspiration this may be read as McQueen's interpretation of coordinated dressing almost vintage Hermes style crocodile sling-backs are teamed with matching handbags, for example. Hair is big, bouffant and blow dried and lips are painted true red."

This sweater is from the RTW collection based on the runway. It is a chunky cable knit sweater with amazing sleeves that are actually created on a curve with a hige twisted cable design running up each. It is cropped and scooped upwards in the front. The buttons are wonderful - large leather knots in a deep brown perfectly offsets the cream wool. It is in excellent, museum quality condition.

What an absolutely amazing and dramatic 1950s silk coat that has that couture feel of the work Dior or Balanciaga was doing in this time period. The fabric is gorgeous - it is a fine grade silk with a floral pattern woven into it in giving it a hint of an exotic Asian feel to it. It was in fact most likely made for the tourist market at the time and is a wonderful combination of fine Eastern silks combined with a Western design. I love the wide, cuffed sleeves and the dramatic fullness and volume of the cut. That collar is sublime and it is actually lined in a stiffening fabric so you can make it stand up if you wish to create a spectacular frame around your face. No are no closures and if you like it in the photographs you will squeal when it arrive as it is even better in person and the photos cannot capture the richness of the fabric. Excellent condition.

This is really an exceptional 1960s (or perhaps even earlier) coat that is entirely hand made and very beautiful. The exterior is made of a striped woven silk that has been covered in a wonderful embroidered pattern interspersed with sequins. The Embroidery is a combination of yarn work, applied cording and embroidery work and acts as a border to all the edging and also explodes down each side of the coat in a spectacular design. Inside a cotton floral design is finished to perfection and if not for the raw thread work of the embroidery showing you could have worn this inside out. I particularly love the treatment around the faux pockets and the black and white yarn that is used to edge all the work through the coat. It gives it a slightly modern twist that is very appealing. A really wonderful piece. Excellent condition

An amazing top by Yves Saint Laurent that is the RTW version of the ones shown in his haute couture Russian collection. Made of a fine grade cream silk taffeta edged in a flat set black silk ribbon finish at the cuffs and on the collar. The top is absolutely wonderful in person! Each sleeve is cut with lots of fullness and volume and each has small pleats set on the top of the shoulder. The sleeves each end in elastic and that fabulous ruffle - this creates tremendous volume and a great puffed shape. The body of the top is cut loose and easy, peasant style, with an elaborate and decadent bow sitting at the base of the plunging neckline. An iconic piece and in a hard to find color and size. This will look equally spectacular with jeans or with a full ball gown skirt as Yves would have shown it! Excellent, appears unworn condition

I love this beautiful off white silk wrap blouse by Guy Laroche with its extravagant ruffles. It is really quite fabulous and a little more elaborate the most of the pieces from this era. It has an almost swashbuckling feel to it with its ruffled front and ruffles at each wrist as well. It wraps to close so you can adjust it to cinch in the waist as much as you want and also control that front plunge. I love the decadence of the silk itself and it is a gorgeous light weight, fine grade silk taffeta that is crisp and fresh. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

I love this jacket - it has an almost caped feel to it and the combination of sequins and beads on the felted wool is so chic. The cut is very wide and loose. From the back it looks like a cape and you just slip your arms through the holes provided. The sleeves come out almost directly from the waist which is what gives it its caped feel. The front has no closures but it cut so a soft, rounded lapel is formed and the edges are edged in his signature corded edging. A double diamond pattern is created with slate grey bead work and glossy black sequins. The loose and easy cut make it extremely versatile and it is the kind of piece that will work equally well for a casual afternoon or full on evening. Excellent condition

What you can't capture in these photos is the lightness and fineness of this McQueen piece. It literally weighs ounces and if it was not lined in a fine silk tulle could probably slip through a ring, the silk is that fine. It has the McQueen signature feather print screened onto it and the edge of the skirt is cut to follow the pattern of the feather design. It is remarkable how realistic the design is and it would have been painstaking to cut the edging out to follow that pattern in such a fine, bias cut silk. tw layers float over each other and it has movement with the slightest bit of air or motion on the wearer's part. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

Glossy black sequins glimmer like a living thing and completely cover the surface. Blass takes this everyday staple to new heights of chic by covering it with sequins in this way. It is shockingly light and fluid- the sequins are all applied onto a black silk chiffon. The impact of that shimmer is fabulous and i love the tongue in cheek vibe created by those anchor engraved buttons. Excellent condition

A crisp white cotton button down top by Azzedine Alaia has unexpected details that elevate it from your regular every day shirt.It is cut a little longer so is almost wearable as a tuni or micro mini and has a dramatic flare and cut to it. A small neat collar can be worn up or down. Tiny buttons close the front and the waist is nipped in and given shape through pleating and gathering along the curved seams. The back flares out for a bit of drama and I love the effect this creates. Each sleeve ends in a dramatic French cuff. There were no buttons for these present - you add your own - so for styling I left them long and open. Excellent condition.

This stunning Bill Blass halter top is a glorious confection of ruffles done in a beautiful pale cafe au lait silk. Additionally he has chose a silk that has a fine stripe worked through it so you get this subtle secondary texture feel which is quite beautiful. It is a true halter style and goes up and around the back, is virtually backless and then zips to close at the front with the zipper hidden under the ruffles. It is a fabulous way to add instant glamor to just about anything and can be worn on its own or under other pieces. Insanely fabulous and this was most likely a custom or runway piece based on the workmanship. Excellent condition.

This is such a classic and the buttons that were used make it extra special. I really love this beautiful off white silk blouse by Yves Saint Laurent. It is really quite fabulous and has such a rich feel between the luxuriousness of the silk and the decadence of the buttons. I believe each button is a glass pearl - they are very high quality and have a good solid weight to them. Their domed, rounded tops are the perfect contrast to the silk.. It has a simple collar with soft pleating along each shoulder and each cuff has two buttons on the cuff and the sleeves are cut so they have a bit of a pouf over the wrist. Made of a gorgeous, fine grade silk. Excellent condition.

What a beautiful coat! The fabric is just wonderful - it is a silk brocade down in a pale combination of greens with little pops of yellows and corals done to create a beautiful floral pattern. Because different weaves have been use through the silk you get the most incredible effect where some parts of the pattern feel recessed and others seem to be raised off the silk. It is cut simply and with chic lines - more fitted through the shoulders and sleeves and then is flares out perfectly as it nears the hem. The buttons are a highlight all on their own - big domed affairs with glittering rhinestones set in each. It is wonderful! Excellent condition

This jacket is just utterly fantastic! The exterior is a fine black velvet that is cut almost box like with a slight widening as it near the hem. Each sleeve is cut with a slight curve and is cropped. Adorning the fabric are elaborate panels of lace and cord lace that is done in a glorious design that follows the vertical rows that highlight the cut of the jacket. The work in each of those row of lace and silk florettes is mind boggling! The interior is lined with a fine cream silk brocade that picks up the floral feel of the exterior lace in its design. I see just the beginnings of shattering along the edges of the lining and under one arm but at this point it is still very stable and should be left and conserved as is. A really special piece that is shockingly wearable despite the fact that it is well over 100 years old! Excellent, museum quality condition.

Fully lined in a fine cream silk brocade and has a hidden set row of hook & eye down the front to close. There is some shattering near the edges of the lining at the front, under one arm and along the neck. These are all very minor - please supersize the photos of the jackets interior to see. It is still sound and wearable as is and since I believe it is the original lining I chose to leave it as is and priced it accordingly. Hand set lining. It is a true deep black - some photos were lightened to show detail.

Courreges did these amazing little faux leather jackets in the 60s and then the company re-issued them in the early 80s. The re-issued ones were done in a variety of pastels and colors not done originally so its very easy between the color and the label so sort out which is which. I love that they did this because it also gives these later ones a voice of their own. Gorgeous cotton velvet skirt by the Emilio Pucci! in a beautiful mix of vibrant colors. A black velvet base has a dense design that covers the entire surface of the skirt. The edge of the hem is printed with a contrasting deign - making it instantly recognizable as  Pucci. This same contrast is used up the center back of the skirt and in two rows of design around the waist - a detail I have not seen used like this before. It really give the waist definition and interest. I love how bright the design is and the myriad of colors makes it an easy mix with so many things! It is a great piece to work into your wardrobe and will never go out of style. Excellent condition

A spectacular 1950s hand painted Mexican circle skirt that is also heavily beaded along the edges of the design. The skirt is on a cream cotton base with the most amazing scenes that circle the entire skirt. The series of painting depict what appears to be a cock fight with a brilliant red painted background highlighting the drama of the scene. After the design was painted onto the skirt the edges were all outline by hand with beads - most a jet black bead but also in blues and gold to match the other smaller designs. It is all hand painted and beautifully done. A very unusual piece and highly collectible too. Excellent condition

This version is that perfect clear red that Yves did ever so well. Made of a canvas weight cotton that gives it extra shape it laces into place at the front as shown. This one rides a little lower on the hip so you feel slightly more covered. It is unlabeled but guaranteed to be Yves Saint Laurent as it was acquired from the original owner and someone I know personally. Excellent condition.

Made of a canvas weight cotton that gives it extra shape, it laces into place at the front as shown. A rounded bust line and peplum effect hip add to the bombshell effect. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

Lined in the same fabric as the exterior and well done enough to the point where if not for the label you could reverse it. Tagged a 44 but these run very small so please check actual measurements.

What a fantastic jacket form Zandra Rhodes. This would have originally been meant as a bed jacket from her lingerie line however, it is completely wearable as a light day or evening piece now. I have exaggerated the curve of the shoulders while taking the photos because I think that that rounded shape is just amazing! The fabric is perma pleated and it ties with pretty ties running down the front. Excellent condition

The sleeves on this dramatic piece by Vicky Tiel are jaw dropping. They are extravagant and grand and create a bold silhouette. Made of folded dot fabric that has stiffening in behind it in the form of net they will defy gravity and hold that shape when on. To balance those bold shoulders the waist nips in sharply and that is further accentuated by the seaming. The hips flare ou from there even more then the photos portray - if you lay the top flat and flip up on side of that lower area you see that a true circle is created! Amazing and bold and I love it. Excellent condition.

Finding a Norma Kamali turban form the eighties is a total score. Finding it with its matching skirt is heaven! And it is super sexy. The  fitted pull on skirt is made of a stretch jersey that has a bold black with white dot print. It has an elastic waist so it fits like a second skin but is still comfortable. The turban is made of the same fabric and is her classic top knot. Styling possibilities are endless! Super easy to care for as it is washable and virtually wrinkle free. Excellent condition and a rare example of her earlier work.

Unlined and pulls on to wear. Nylon and Lycra mix so can be hand washed. Fabric stretches like a body suit.

For the 1982 collection Halston was strongly influence by the studded detailing that was so prevalent and swept the fashion world in the 1940s. He studded everything with flat silver or gold nail head studs including a range of butter soft suede like this one. The jacket is amazing with its loose blousing silhouette that would have perfectly topped his form fitting silhouettes. It also is special for its foray into color - Halston did not do bright colors often but when he did they were perfect. The sleeves are cut very loose and full and have a squared off dip to them before narrowing to the cuff - again a strong forties reference. It has no closures and is cut loose through the body. Around each cuff and completely around the edge and around both the back and beck are the silver flat studs with three sizes used and a varying pattern. I love it! Excellent condition

It has that classic YSL tie at the neck - this one is wider then most and built right into the neckline as an extension of the top rather then being a separate tie like one usually sees.The tie makes it so versatile - you can tie as shown or any other way that you can dream up! Great smocking detail in the way the silk is set under the shoulder panel. I love the design screened onto the silk - the colors are a perfect compliment to each other and even though its a more subdued color the print gives it interest. It is a gorgeous light weight silk of a high quality (of course). Excellent condition.

Love this beautiful blue silk blouse by Yves Saint Laurent. It is really quite fabulous and has an almost swashbuckling feel to it with its ruffled front and cuffs. The tie at the neck is classic Yves. I love the dot and diamond print worked into the silk itself and how each cuff has a band just above the ruffle so you get a bit of a pouf over the wrist. Made of a gorgeous, ocean blue light weight, fine grade silk. Excellent condition.
