A very rare and special bolt of hand painted Fortuny fabric that is extraordinarily beautiful. You can still buy Fortuny products today but they cannot match the superior quality and they are much more valuable - especially when n original, untouched condition such as this! The base is a hand dyed Egyptian cotton done in a dusky pink terracotta, over which the design is hand painted and stenciled an a deep gold paint. It is marked many times along the salvage with the dated 1961 stamp, the NYC store address stamp, and hand marking as well. A wonderful piece for the collector or interior designer. Very rare and in museum quality condition.
A single huge panel of fabric measuring 57" wide x 159" long or approx 4.6 yard long and just a touch over a yard and a half wide.
The condition is excellent and I can see no flaws. The edges are cut and not finished as they would be from coming off a roll of fabric

This is a wonderful light cotton French flapper day dress with a little tag that declares it was made in France! The color is a hand dyed pink-peach color and the white & deeper hued bead work really pops against it. All those beads are the teeniest tiniest seed beads and each was meticulously placed ad sewn by hand. A labour intensive piece like this would have been very high quality at the time! It is a great larger size and a sound and lovely example of the period. Strong and wearable condition
Shoulders: no defined seam
Bust: 25" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 23" flat across from side seam to side seam
Length: 42" from neck to bottom hem
Unlined, it slips over the head with no closures. There are a couple of very faint discolorations here and there but nothing that overly detracts - please super size photos to view. A very small amount of missing beads here and there. Priced accordingly. Hand beaded and hand finished.

If I did not know the source of this top and the fact that it did indeed come from the same estate that many of the 1920s piece I am listing came from I would almost think it a later period. It is in such fantastic condition and feels so modern it is astounding! It still retains its little early size tag at the neck and was created with some of the best sequin work I have ever encountered. The finest deep red silk chiffon has tiny hand applied sequins in black and clear running over hand dyed striping done to the silk. It is cardigan style and all the interior work is completely done by hand. Wonderful!! Excellent condition

Sleeves: 22"
Bust: 17.5" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: 15" flat across the back from side seam to side seam

When I acquired this I almost passed it by, it had not been cleaned and it was only the silk cord raffia that swayed me to chance it. My cleaners took extra time and care and when I picked it up I was blown away! The body of the dress is a silk that drapes beautifully since it is bais cut. Inset at the neck and around each sleeve is that wonderful silk cord that is woven so beautifully. Cording has been hand swirled into circles and applied down the side and above the skirt detailing The lower skirting is astonishing and I took a photo flat so you can see how extensive and just how much of it there is! The silk cord is elaborately woven into individual petals and the set into the skirt and up each hip all the way around. When on a real girl this allows for a glimpse of skin and is crazy sexy! The dress is in excellent, wearable condition with proper care and the love it deserves. It is not just a dress but a work of art and the pictures do not come close to doing it justice - if you even remotely fell in love with it - you will faint from happiness to see it in real life. There are no closures - you just slip it on and go. This is really a remarkable twenties textile. The level of work in this piece would only be found in the highest couture of today! Museum quality.
Bust: 21" flat across from side seam to side seam and stays that width till below the hip
Length: 43" from shoulder to bottom hem, at longest point
The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. I found three teeny pinholes that are stabled and went through cleaning with no change, otherwise remarkable condition with no outstanding flaws to note other then natural patina.

My client acquired this in France many many years ago from a dealer. She was told at the time that is was an early Chanel acquired directly form the original owner. It does not have any labels but it does have the feel of piece Chanel was doing at the time. I am offering it at a price for the quality of the dress itself. If one could verify that it is indeed Chanel than the price is ridiculously low! The work is remarkable - a textured silk has been knife pleated and the over-stitched in horizontal rows from shoulder to the dropped waist. This creates a subtle checked pattern that is quite lovely. The skirt swings out from the lower hip into the pleat work and have beautiful movement. Each sleeve is left simple and straight with a hidden snap at the wrist. The back is also left with no pleat work or design. Lovely and simple and chic! Excellent condition!
Sleeves: 23"
Shoulders: 14.5"
Bust: to 20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 17.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: best suit to 20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Length: 46" from neck to bottom hem
The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear with snaps down the neck and at each cuff Remarkable condition with no outstanding flaws to note other then natural patina. For a piece that is almost 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition. Note that the piece is unlabelled. If labeled the price would have a zero at its end!

Gres, Doucet, Worth, Paquin, Reboux, the list of some of the greatest designers to exist all had shops on Rue de la Paix in Paris during the 1920s. This amazing dress is a stunning example of work in the period and is also in remarkable condition. The silk velvet has a very subtle stenciling in gold that runs through the fabric. I tried to photo it on the light so you can get an idea. It presents as black but n the light as as one moves it has a shimmering under color to it. Onto this is a heavy and remarkable bead work that covers the entire lower portion of the skirts to just under the bust. The neck and sleeves are rimmed with 4 rows of black and clear glass beads. A penal of velvet come form one shoulder and interconnects with the draped velvet belting that wraps around the waistline and then extends, attached to the skirt to the hem. The bead work is entirely hand applied and very heavy with 3 dimensional aspects. Museum quality and appears to have been worn little if at all. A rare chance to own a piece of 1920s couture!
The fabric is self backed and slips over the head to wear. Remarkable condition with no outstanding flaws to note. There is perhaps the occasional bead missing but for a piece that is almost 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition.

The edges are hand rolled and stitched. Some areas of oxidation to the silver here and there that have darkened it but I do not consider this a flaw as it is natural patina and adds to its appeal! I find no breaks to the net. The color is more of an ivory in person with no yellow tinge - that is a trick of the light

Exquisite and exceptional 1920s dress is a remarkable example of the decadence and high end textiles being produced in this time period. The fabric is a mix of silk chiffon that house extended ovals of real metallic thread gold lame worked into the fabric. A wide sash of that same gold lame rings the waist. The silk underlying the lame is the prettiest bands of pastels stacked upon each other in rows - a pale pink, soft yellow, teal hued aqua and a nude are beautifully contrasted by the gold. The waist is caught up in gathers at one side and pannier like extensions sit on either side of the skirt giving it lots of movement when you move. The dress can be worn with either the square neck or the rounded one at the front - both sides are finished to equal measures. There are no closures - you just slip it over an under dress and go. Strong and wearable with the care and love it deserves to be shown - this is one of the best 1920s pieces I have ever seen and I would not be surprised to learn that it was a couture piece form one of the Paris houses at the time - it is of that high quality and the fabric would have been customs designed and made. Museum quality and exceptional.
Bust: 16.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 19" flat across from side seam to side seam
Length: 44" from shoulder to bottom hem
The fabric is unlined and slips over the head to wear. There is perhaps a slightest darkening here and there to the lame - there is a small portion of the skirt that feels a little darker when looked at flat but when it presents as exceptional. It would not fit on my size 6 judy so was photoed flat - there is no side opening so you have to be a good inch or two smaller then the listed measurements to be able to get it on. For a piece that is almost 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition.

A stunning little twenties piece that was made using earlier tape lace! This makes it an interesting little dress on several levels! I also love its subtle glamour - the tale lace is designed to become the pattern and you could wear any color slip underneath to create a different mood and feel. The threads that hold the curved lace together is beautiful and spaced perfectly through put. Onto the lace are little rows of glass tube beads that are spaced a good inch apart - this gives the dress a subtle glint in the light but is not so overtly beaded that ones focus is deterred form the beautiful lace work. The top is simply cut and it gradually widens as it near the hem. The hem is finished with a pointed scalloping! Museum quality and appears to have been worn little if at all.

An amazing statement piece in black net with the most amazing three dimensional embroidery and cord work covering the entire thing. Beautiful long vertical panels of applique covers the piece from shoulder to hem. I love the extra detailing that creates a "collar" and also highlights the upper back. The cut is narrow through the shoulders and then gradually widens as it nears the hem. Each sleeve is cut wide and straight and are also heavily detailed with applique and cording. Whatever color you choose to wear underneath will of course show through! It is a stunning example of the high attention paid to detail in this time period and real rarity! Excellent, museum quality condition

Unlined and slips on to wear with hook and eye at the front. I see some very minor repairs to what would have been some breaks on the front shoulders and perhaps there is a small break here and there, but these are only seen when viewed carefully and closely. Other then that it is in remarkable condition with no outstanding flaws to note. For a piece that is 100 years old or more, is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition.

This is an amazing piece that my client bought at auction many many years ago. We know little about it other then it is early! Made of a beautiful deep black silk. The bottom edge has a woven ribbon pattern worked into the silk in a brilliant mix of green, red and yellow threads. The entire front has real metal gold toned thread worked over it. The is done with a heavy hand and continues up and around the neck. The four front clasps are actual metal and quite heavy!! I suspect this was a man's vest but it is a brilliant and amazing piece for now! Note that it is a true deep black and we have lightened some photos so you can see the detail. Excellent antique condition
Bust: 17" flat across the back from side to side
Waist: 15" flat across the back from side to side
Total length: 17" from neck to hem
Fully lined in a woven cotton and closes at the front with silver colored huge clasps. Hand finishes. The interior shows a bit of grubbiness but it is otherwise in excellent condition!

A wonderful flapper coat done in a matte metallic brocade mixed with black. The gold areas have a subtle hint of the black thread under them and this gives the fabric and interesting dimension to it - it seems to change tone as it catches the light. The shape is that classic cocoon with all the volume on the top and a narrowing as it gets near the hem. It also scoops up in a curve at the front opening - again a classic characteristic! Each sleeve is adorned with a wide velvet cuff and that same velvet is used on the collar - it sits wide when open or high up to frame the face when buttoned. I love the piping detail that runs down the inside of the front opening and ends in a little curl - its that little extra touch that just make you swoon! Lined in a golden mustard - it is an absolute work of art. Insanely rare and hard to find in this kind of color combination and workmanship. Excellent, museum condition and a stunning heirloom quality find.
Fully lined in gold silk and closes at the neck with velvet covered buttons. There is a little hand sewn pocket on the inside. There are areas of shattering to the silk lining but it is clean and sound and will be wearable for many years before this would need to be addressed.

This amazing dress is a stunning example of work being done in the period and it is also in remarkable condition. It is actually two pieces - an inner dress whose bottom portion has a sequin and lace and bead overlay and then the top that is also lace with sequin and bead work. The bead and sequin work is entirely hand applied and very heavy with 3 dimensional aspects. The inner dress has a silk satin base. The front and the back dip quite low and there is a little piece of hand made lace sewn into each dip as a modesty panel - allowing you to wear this on its own if you wish. The dropped waist has a lattice work of sequins - this same lattice detailing is also on the bottom hem of the top. The lace appears to be handmade and the sequins and huge jet beads are all hand applied. The dress is in excellent, wearable condition with proper care and the love it deserves. It is not just a dress but a work of art and the pictures do not come close to doing it justice - if you even remotely fell in love with it - you will faint from happiness to see it in real life. The level of work in this piece would only be found in the highest couture of today! Museum quality and appears to have been worn little if at all. A rare chance to own a piece of 1920s couture!
The inner silk satin dress serves as the lining and then the overlay of the skirt is attached to that and the top slips over it. Both pieces slip over the head to wear. There are perhaps some broken pailettes here and there and perhaps some very minor sequin loss. Nothing to the degree that I would consider a major flaw nor would you notice because of the thousands of sequins and beads used.

This robe was carefully stored and is in extraordinary condition. The fabric is strong and it is a wonderfully constructed garment. This is a stunning robe that has a beautiful black velvet pattern on a silk chiffon base. This is layered over an interior cream silk base and the edges of the sleeves, collar and hem are then finished with wide panels of a fine silk. The silk is strong and the cut will fit a variety of sizes. It is really amazing to find something that is almost 100 years old in this kind of condition! Though this would have been meant for the boudoir it can be mixed into a modern day girl's wardrobe quite easily. Excellent condition!
Fully lined and has no closures. It is in what I would consider excellent shape with no apparent flaws other then one small faint watermark on the inside lining! Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect (though this is close)! It is after all almost 100 years old!

This robe was carefully stored and it shows as it is still in extraordinary condition! The fabric is strong and wearable and it is a high end, excellently constructed garment. This amazing robe is made of a beautiful and fine black silk. It has stunning embroidery work on each hip - a full bouquet of roses are stitched under a semi-transparent early nylon and then colored batting was placed underneath to create a puffed feel! Under and all around the hem is a stunning hand knotted fringing detail in black silk cording and is in excellent condition. Though this would have been meant for the boudoir it can be mixed into a modern day girl's wardrobe quite easily. Excellent condition and quite stunning!
