1920s Gold Lame Flapper Cocoon Coat
A wonderful flapper coat done in a matte metallic brocade mixed with black. The gold areas have a subtle hint of the black thread under them and this gives the fabric and interesting dimension to it - it seems to change tone as it catches the light. The shape is that classic cocoon with all the volume on the top and a narrowing as it gets near the hem. It also scoops up in a curve at the front opening - again a classic characteristic! Each sleeve is adorned with a wide velvet cuff and that same velvet is used on the collar - it sits wide when open or high up to frame the face when buttoned. I love the piping detail that runs down the inside of the front opening and ends in a little curl - its that little extra touch that just make you swoon! Lined in a golden mustard - it is an absolute work of art. Insanely rare and hard to find in this kind of color combination and workmanship. Excellent, museum condition and a stunning heirloom quality find.
Fully lined in gold silk and closes at the neck with velvet covered buttons. There is a little hand sewn pocket on the inside. There are areas of shattering to the silk lining but it is clean and sound and will be wearable for many years before this would need to be addressed.
Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly.
