Bust: 16" from side seam to side seam, and continuing to hip seam where skirt attaches
Length: 44" from shoulder to bottom hem at the points
The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. Remarkable condition with minor signs of wear considering that this is almost 100 years old. There are faint fade marks round the arms and collar but when worn they do not detract - please see photos. Slight bead loss- maybe 1-2% overall. Someone has reinforced the shoulders at some point. It is well done and seems to have been done some time ago so is left as found. Priced accordingly with these minor issues taken into account. All inside edges are hand rolled and hand stitched and all the bead work in hand applied. Original made in France tag. Remarkable piece

Showstopping, highly collectible 1920s Spanish Floss shawl is a masterpiece and really a work of art. Completely embroidered with silk embroidery threading on a fine black silk netting base, the entire surface is an explosion of color as a riotous filed of flowers cover every inch of this beautiful piece. Marvel at the close up shots and yet it is still 100% more in person! The colors are bright and true, there are no flaws or holes. This was lovingly stored properly and looks new almost 100 years later. It is edged all the way around with a 14 inch hand knotted silk fringe border. The fringe is in excellent condition. This is a beautiful, early silk coat. I am guessing turn of the century though this is a touch outside my area of expertise so feedback is always welcome! What I do know is that is is stunning and still extremely wearable and shockingly modern still. The exterior is a luxurious black, weighty silk matte satin. It ties at the neck under a fine short pelted fur collar that has a moleskin or chinchilla feel to it. The cut is very simple except for the stunning 3D cord work and stitching detail. This runs down each sleeve and the cord work forms scrolls and filigree. Each bottom sleeve has a puffed inset of perfect tiny flat pleats - amazing. These older pieces always seem to have hidden work done for the sake of the doing it properly rather for show and this is no exception. The good 4 inch scroll work design runs down the inside of each front panel - only really showing when the tie is down up at the neck and the edges then flip out! It has a soft wool lining between the exterior and the inner silk lining so it is surprisingly warm despite its lightness. This would have been a very finely made piece in its time! Excellent condition though please do read the notes concerning the lining below.
Stunning and unusual this is a late 20s, early 30s silk embroidered Asian jacket that would have been made specifically for the tourist market. It is very unusual in that it is all black stitch - normally you see these in a myriad of colors and to find a black stitch one is pretty amazing! Machine stitched embroidery covers the jacket in a design of beautiful birds that flit amongst black flowers and vines. Both the outside and inner lining are a slightly off-white tissue silk that is very light weight. It is in excellent shape and looks to have been worn little. Wonderful, rare and unusual piece.
An amazing and exceedingly rare, Victorian hand made chantilly lace jacket. The shape is created by the lace making process, not cut out of a piece of cloth - in other words it was made deliberately to be this shape as it was meticulously hand made stitch by stitch.† It is cut fuller through the back as it would have been made to leave room for a bustle at the back.† It is not super fitted so may have been a maternity jacket, or morning coat - they were often loose and meant to be thrown on over fancy morning dresses where the outfit is fitted at bust but then flares down from there so women could lounge around without corsets and whatnot. It is truly remarkable and an extraordinary piece of fashion history and a testament to the level of textiles from this time period.† It is in museum quality condition. Item# S210
I have a few really fantastic twenties and earlier pieces coming over the next few weeks to share with you. One of my clients is a long term collector who has decided to edit their collection and I am the lucky girl who gets to have first pick! They have been collecting for years and years so the pieces are ones you rarely, if ever even get to see anymore! This is an early Japanese, made for the tourist market, boudoir tissue silk kimono. It is utterly stunningly and hauntingly beautiful! These were made to be soft and romantic and were stylized, pretty versions of the traditional kimono. Hand dyed and hand screened, this is a stunning and still vibrant palette of greens, vivid coral and oft blues. Parrots are the center piece of the design and I love the bright floral contrasts and edgings! It literally weighs mere ounces. There are fantastic to wear at home, as a light evening topper or even as a dress if you add a silk slip under it! Excellent condition and a real treat to have.
My photos do nothing to convey how special this dress is. It looks so shockingly modern and fresh that it will literally blow you over when you see it in person and realize this is a sublime little fancy day dress from the twenties! The workmanship is extraordinary - the bead work is amazing and the constraint used with only the white on the black silk chiffon is wonderful. Teeny tiny white seed beads are hand applied in the tightest possible way to one another and form bands that circle the scalloped skirt hem and emphasize the poet sleeves. Each sleeve ties with a silk at the wrist and the sleeve billows above it and the weight of the seed beads make that shape emphasized. The bodice drapes - quite low actually but a girls modesty is saved by a heavily beaded scarf like cowl that is attached on either side of the neck and slightly curves. The skirt appears to wrap around you and the bead work goes form the side of the waist and around the scalloped hem. It feel amazing on and the weight of the bead work is shocking against the silk chiffon. Truly amazing - if you love it in the pictures you will be extraordinarily happy when it arrives. No label but if someone told me it was a Chanel or the equivilant I would not be surprised at all! It is strong and wearable with care - it is after all almost 100 years old. A true collectors piece and a true work of art.
Many of the twenties pieces I will be listing over the next week or so came from the same estate that† an important labelled Worth cape was found. All of the pieces were carefully stored and are in extraordinary condition. The fabrics are strong and wearable and all are high end, excellently constructed garments. This one is a robe that would have been made for the tourist market and is really an exceptional piece. Besides the stunning embroidery work and fringing details it has added panels of black glossy glass beads circling the hem of each sleeve and a wide panel of intricate beadwork that follows the collar and goes down the front on each side. I have not seen one of these with bead work before and it is really special! The silk is strong and the cut will fit a variety of sizes. The embroidery is that of roses and it is well done and appears to have been machine stitched. The fringe is hand knotted silk and in excellent condition. Though this would have been meant for the boudoir it can be mixed into a modern day girl's wardrobe quite easily. Excellent condition!
Dropped shoulders: 21î from seam to seam
Bust: 24î from side seam to side seam, and continuing to bottom hem
Total length: 48î mid-back of the neck to bottom hem
Sleeves: 12î from dropped shoulder seam to longest point
The robe is unlined and has no closures. It is in what I would consider excellent shape with no major flaws other then some separation of the backing to the fabric behind the rows of beading on one sleeve. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absoutely perfect (though this is close)! It is after all almost 100 years old!

My photos do nothing to convey how special this dress is. It looks so shockingly modern and fresh that it will literally blow you over when you see it in person and realize this date to somewhere in the very very early twenties or late teens! The workmanship is extraordinary - it really and truly is a couture level piece and I would not be surprised to learn that some aficionado spots it for what it really is and it turns out to be a rare Chanel or Lavin or something on that level. The sequin work is amazing and the design has an almost tiger stripe feel to it in the way the sleeves and sides are partially striped. All those sequins have been applied in tight rows and form a beautiful contrast to the silk netting. The elongated triangles run across each sleeve and down each side where they eventually meet and circle the hem of the skirt. The bodice has a sequin overlay that is weighted to hang perfectly. Truly amazing - if you love it in the pictures you will be extraordinarily happy when it arrives. It is strong and would be wearable with care though truly this is also a piece meant fot a collectors and should be considers a true work of art.

This one is a robe that would have been made for the tourist market and is really an exceptional piece. It has stunning embroidery work and fringing details on a beautiful weight black silk. The silk is strong and the cut will fit a variety of sizes. The embroidery is that of large pastel roses in frames made of smaller roses circling around the larger. The workmanship is well done and appears to have been machine stitched. The fringe is hand knotted silk and in excellent condition. Many of the twenties pieces I will be listing over the next week or so came from the same estate that† an important labelled Worth cape was found. All of the pieces were carefully stored and are in extraordinary condition. The fabrics are strong and wearable and all are high end, excellently constructed garments. It is a really really beautiful late teens, early twenties dress in cut silk velvet on a chiffon base that drapes absolutely beautifully! The colors are divine - a muted taupe silk chiffon base is covered head to toe with a deco pattern in applied silk velvet† that is a golden taupe shade. The combination is stunning! A soft panel drapes around the hip and is connected by a large beaded medallion. A wide sash drapes down from there and the end is heavily beaded - all by hand. A portion of the skirt has this same beaded deco pattern and the neckline is also beaded with this design. It is a true beauty and in excellent condition - strong and wearable - far more stunning in person as the camera does not quite capture the lushness of the fabric. The silk is strong and the cut will fit a variety of sizes - I have sized it as a Med large but will present just as well on a girl in the 6-8 range - it will just drape more. All the bead work is by hand. Excellent, museum quality condition!
Showstopping, highly collectible 1920s cut silk devore shawl is a masterpiece and really a work of art and has the added decadence of multi colored silk fringing giving it a ombre effect - I have never seen this before and it is amazing! Marvel at the close up shots and yet it is still 100% more in person! The colors are all strong and true, there are no flaws or holes. A soft panelled sash drapes down from one hip and the edges are beaded in the same manner - all by hand. The front has gathers and ruching for extra detail. The coat is fully lined in striped cotton, almost canvas like fabric and it deteriorating as pictured. The coat is sold as found and the interior does show the accumulation of the years. The exterior velvet has spots where it has rubbed off and the base fabric shows through - this actually adds to the beauty of the coat I think. One of the wood accents on the belt is long gone. The edging inside each sleeve is present but just band of horizontal threading. It closes with metal buttons with interesting over sized looped backs. It has a good weight to it but is not too unwieldy to wear. Hand finishes. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect! Amazing cut velvet on silk chiffon done in a gorgeous art deco design. The base fabric has red, green and blue, shot through with golds woven into a brown silk chiffon base. The velvet is applied on top and cut in sharp geometric shapes - this allows bits of the color under to show through. It is cut typical flapper style with a cocoon like shape. It closes low on the front with large velvet covered buttons and there is an attached tie at the neck that you can style dozens of ways. The fringe is very long and in excellent condition. There is one bit missing on one side - please see the picture. Each sleeve has a silk insert that I think was added but I am leaving as it works. You could wear this as a dress with something under it! Great condition.

This gown is just extraordinary. Fine hand work throughout and an absolute wonderful example of the craft that went into day wear. There are four or five different embroidery techniques employed in this piece as well as crochet work and different grades of netting. I love the heavy embroidery used down each sleeve and in panels down the bodice and skirt. Huge open cut work panels of edged linen work their way through the design. Crochet covered ball buttons add detail to the bodice and sit in a double row down each side of the skirt. Elbow length sleeves a high neck and a nod to detailing at the waist while following the fashion of a tubular shape. It is in extraordinary condition and a the photos speak for themselves when it comes to the details found in this dress. If you love the photos the dress in person is even better! Museum quality condition!
Note that is is NOT white - it is a true linen color cream or off-white

Lined in extremely fine tissue silk through the bodice, with netting backing the sleeves. The skirt is left unlined. It closes with a series of metal hooks down the back. Remarkable condition with no outstanding flaws to note other then natural patina. There is the slightest of deepening of the color on the crochet buttons. For a piece that is approx 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition. Very fine work and very light weight to wear yet feels like a piece that has substance to it at the same time.

Gorgeous embroidered silk Chinese export shawl that is from the twenties. It is a spectacular explosion of flowers, cranes and butterflies done in a satin stitch. The colors are as vibrant as the day it was done and are perfectly set off against the black silk backdrop. It is dramatic and so wearable - you can use it as an evening cape or coat by adding a well placed brooch or use it in your home as a show-stopping accessory. The stitching appears to be primarily machine stitch with some finishes done by hand. It is edged all the way around with a† 22" hand knotted silk fringe border. Measures† 99" square including the fringe
I have done some research on this label and have some to the conclusion that this is a dress made by the makers of what was to become the infamous Lucille de Paris handbag line. The duo behind that label began in France and the labels are very close to each other in feel and style. It is my firm belief that Luci de Paris started as a dressmaker in the twenties and went on to become the more "grown up" Lucille de Paris and focus solely on handbags starting in the thirties. That makes this a rare and exciting piece not only to the collector of fine twenties pieces but to hand bag collectors as well! The dress is extraordinary and captures that fantastic hippie, bohemian spirit that ran rampant during the time. The embroidery is exquitite and it is uite daring with it's wide set neckline that can slip down to bare a shoulder. The skirt is pleated and has a lot of movement. The fabric is especially fine and the entire dress is, as the label states, completely hand made. Exquisite and in excellent condition! A rare find! Item# DD761
Silk and netting have been hand beaded on this delicious 1920s Cocoon evening coat. Unlabeled but so exceedingly well done that it could perhaps be one pf the greats of that time period. The base is black silk netting on a black tissue silk lining and the netting has been meticulously hand beaded on every square inch! To this is a 3" border of iridescent white glass tube beading that forms a striking contrast to the black base. As it nears the bottom hem and the upper back collar, this border gently widens to a full 8" in width! A stylized black art deco pattern in black seed beads add extra detailing to this dramatic trim! This is a shape that would have been the height of fashion in the twenties and infamous designers like Paul Poiret and Chanel were particularly adept at this silhouette. Though this piece is unlabelled it is surely a couture piece! It wraps and encircles the wearer in a light cloud of fabric and beads. The draping is exquisite. Note how the outer back layer of netting is set into the lower hem to create a gentle pouf - there is actually more fabric on the exterior layer and it is caught up, hand draped and stitched into place to create that extra bit of fullness. Each sleeve ends in the same patterned glass bead detailing. The large beaded button at the front, held by a twisted loop of silk braiding is the perfect finishing detail on this extraordinary piece. Excellent, museum quality condition. Item# C157
A drop dead gorgeous silk chiffon flapper coat with fused silk cut velvet applique in a soft pastel color throughout. The base fabric is a stunning pastel version of a coral that is backed in a pale ice pink - this gives the chiffon an extra layer of depth. Onto the chiffon is a stunning design of fused silk velvet applied to form pretty flowers that varies in how much was applied - heavier near the hem and on the collars and scattered prettily over the sleeves and upper portion. It is cut in a classic cocoon flapper shape. It closes low on the front with a fabric covered buttin that has a hook and eye hidden behind it, Inside there is an attached tie inside to secure. You can easily add a bit of a silk underneath and wear this as a dress as well! Each sleeve is cut kimono style with a wide wide hem that is edged in a 3" banding of metallic gold lace. The back is a work of art! A wide six inch panel of the same real metallic lace work falls in a column of gold til it reaches a point just under the torso of the wearer. The back hem mirrors this point and the fabric is gathered up and into the gold lace panel to create the most dramatic and stunning back detailing I have ever seen! It is an absolute work of art. Insanely rare and hard to find in this kind of color combination and workmanship. Excellent, musuem condition and a stunning heirloom quality find. Item# C159
Wonderful and rare silk & lace flapper day dress. Suitable for the collector or twenties enthusiast this little beauty is no longer perfect but still wearable and an excellent and rare example of day wear form the period. It has fantastic tea colored silk lace and netted bodice, sleeves and color that top a hand dyed robins egg blue body. The lace work through the upper portion of the dress is quite extensive - several patterns are pieced together and a pretty blue silk tie sits at the neck. To combine lace and silk like this is very labour intensive so a piece like this would have been very high quality! The body is classic tubular twenties in cut and the hem has a circle of ruffles at its bottom. A wonderful example of this time period!
Exceptional late twenties flapper coat made of a lame silk brocade combined with a stunning pale yellow velvet. If that was not enough the collar and cuffs are accented with snow white ermine! The body of the coat is a textured almost 3D fabric with large Asian feel medallions woven into the silk base, Those medallions are formed form real gold metallic lame thread. The upper portion of the coat has soft, rounded seamless shoulders and they curve gracefully to the ermine cuffs. The collar is high and also detailed with ermine and under that are three huge knotted loops that each end with over-sized fabric covered buttons! Amazing! Inside the coat has been hand lined with a blush pink silk. I huge and wonderful pocket adorned with pretty silk ribbons on each side sits prettily at an angle. The coat is labeled Ogden gowns which leads me to believe that this was once part of a set - I can only wistfully imagine the matching gown that went with it. Extraordinarily rare and in museum quality. A stunning heirloom quality find.
Shoulders: no defined seams
Sleeves: approz 20" long
Bust: 22" flat across the inside back from side seam to side seam
The coat widens as it reaches the bottom hem so waist and hips are open
Total length: 39" from mid-back at the neck to bottom of fringing
Fully lined in blush pink silk. It has hidden hook and eye along the front edges and those large velvet loops and brocade covered buttons at the neck. The fabric is wonderfully clean and strong. There are no real flaws to note other a tiny bit of shattering to the silk at the inside neck above the label and another area on the lining under one loop - neither of these show when the coat is work and the fabric is still strong and wearable. The exterior has no flaws to note and the condition is excellent but is a garment that is nearing 100 years old and should be treated with love and care when worn and stored please. Hand finished throughout.
Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. This is a rare Juliet cap made in the 1920s. What makes it remarkable are two things. First it is made of gelatin sequins - which are rarer and harder to find in such extraordinary condition. The gelatin will actually melt if it encounters heat or water. Second most of these are made on netting - this gives the sequins a base upon which to apply them. This one (and the other found with it) was made by hand applying sequin after sequin on a cotton cording - gold under the gold and black under the black - and then forming and stitching the resulting bands of sequins into the cap as you see it. Amazing and a rare piece of fashion history!

This is a pretty flapper cloche or skull cap that is hand made and very special! The exterior has held up extremely well. It is a pretty combination of blue cording that wraps over and around tight rows of iridescent blue sequins. - all placed in curved little rows to make a wonderful art deco pattern. The inside felt shows the hand work and is in excellent condition with no flaws to note. I love the pointed wood nymph feel the jagged cut edge give it! Excellent condition - a rare find!

This is a spectacular, all original 1920s Assuit Flapper coat. The technique used to make this has been done for a very very long time and is still done today but not to the same degree and quality of the pieces done in the twenties. You will often see shawls from this period and the occasional dress, but to find a coat, original from the period is almost unheard of! And it is not a coat assembled from a shawl - many of the "original" assuit garments you may see are actually later creations assembled from vintage shawls. Actual, original, purposefully made garments are much rarer and harder to find. This one is all classic flapper - one side has a long scarf like attachment that you can tuck behind the button for an extra drape, leave it at the front as I have here, or drape it around your neck. The exterior is a fine cotton mesh with squares of real silver hammered and folded into the mesh - in essence the metal is wrapped around the mesh to form that fantastic design. The main body of the piece is is literally covered with these little silver squares and the back is a solid panel silver covered mesh-work! It is lined in a cream tissue silk. It is a thing of beauty and a wonderful example of the level of craftsmanship and care put into garments during this time period.
The garment is fully lined in cream tissue silk and closes with a single button located on the hip. There are small areas of oxidation here and there but I do not consider these to be a flaw - its a natural evolution of the material used. The inside is clean and the silk strong. A break on the netting covering the button as photoed. There are no real outstanding flaws to note. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect (though this is close)! It is after all almost 100 years old!

This is an astonishing and extremely beautiful and rare, antique textile that is also a superbly finished and still wearable garment. This is an early, turn of the century, coat made of a rich silk matte satin. It has hand applied and custom cut detailing added in a rich, plush velvet on the sleeves, around the collar, down the entire front circling the hem and then extensively throughout the back. The velvet was then accented and hand beaded -all in glossy black, jet beads. Worked within the design are large dots of faceted jet. I don't think I have seen a coat this elaborately worked and in this wonderful a condition from this time period before. Though unlabeled it is absolutely couture level quality and workmanship. Inside it is lined in a fine taupe colored silk and between the exterior and interior is a batting that was added for warmth. It is very heavy because of the wadding and the jet, I would guess it is well over 10lbs and it is very finely, meticulously made. For all it's weight it is surprisingly comfortable once on. The back is slightly longer and has a wide full cut with an astonishing amount of fabric. The sleeves are amazing - wide and full with a curve just above the wrist for extra width! Really a find and a beautiful piece in every way! Museum quality condition and a superb piece!
Shoulders: no defined seam, approx 15.5"
Sleeves: approx 22" long
Bust: 18" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: 22" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Total length: 52" from back of inside the neck to bottom hem at back
The coat is fully lined in fine taupe tissue silk. It closes with hidden flat metal hook & eye that run along the front. There may be some tiny areas of missing beads here and there but none that I find requires an extra note on. The inside lining is starting to shatter along the neck and there are a couple of watermarks and small spots inside. I made some small repairs along the seam under each arm and had my seamstress stabilize a 2 inch tear that was radiating out from under the arm but it is the original lining and still wearable and basically sound other then the area photoed. Other then these tiny things there are no real flaws to note - the coat is astonishingly strong and beautiful. It is a garment that is over 100 years old so has natural patina and should be treated with love and care when worn and stored please. Note the color is true black. All hand done.

Beautiful, rare example of a 1920s day wear that is still shockingly fresh and modern feeling. Constructed of a stiffened, crisp feeling fine woven cotton voile it has pretty lines and a pretty and romantic print. The sleeves are two layers of fabric to make those wonderful flutter cap sleeves. The bodice is kept demure with a simple scoop neck and little detailing of fabric at the neck. Curved seaming defines the waist from which the skirt flows out in a gentle A-line. In person the color is slightly more of a pink with pops of a pastel green and yellow in the semi-sheer fabric. The waist can be defined with the original fabric belt. It looks to have been worn very little and came through cleaning wonderfully. Extremely pretty and feminine. Excellent condition. Item# D406
Beautiful, rare example of 1920s day wear with insanely fabulous fine detail design work. Constructed of a soft, draped, finely woven cotton batiste with hand placed and handmade yellow checks suspended within the cloth by threads and worked into the design. The bodice is kept simple with a V scoop neck and pretty detailing at the collar that picks up the checked work at the front and back. The collar and neckline are piped in a pretty yellow. The is piping extends down the front and acts as a frame to those incredible yellow squares use to decorate the front and back of the dress Pleats at each hip give a nod to the earlier panniers. The waist can be defined with the original fabric belt. It looks to have been worn very little and came through cleaning wonderfully. It is a rare and wonderful example of the time period and has a strong Art Deco feel. A Made in France label at the neck is maddening as this was perhaps form one of the great houses when you consider the detail and fineness of it! Excellent, original condition.
Bust: to 20" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: to 19" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Hips: to 17" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Bodice length: approx 20" from shoulder to drop waist
Skirt length: 17.5" from the waist to the bottom of the hem
Unlined, it slips over the head to wear. The original fabric belt is with it and is in excellent condition as well. There is a small streak of faded rust mark near the arm - please super size the photo to see - and a tiny smudge of the same on the other side on the back -ÔøΩ they may come out with additional soaking as they lightened substantially the first round of cleaning - I do not feel they detract and it is priced accordingly. I had a few of the cross stitches on the front check designed repaired and there area couple of the cross stitches missing but it is sound. Hand finished.

Beautiful, rare example of 1920s day wear that is so romantic and modern in feel still almost 100 year later! Constructed of a soft, finely woven cotton it has pretty curved lines and the cotton has wonderful finished edge, open cut work, three leaf clovers running through it. The color in person is a true soft, baby pink - the photos give it a touch of lavender that is not there. Also any color variation is the lighting - in person it is perfect. The hat is the best color example! The sleeves of the jacket end in a ruffled, full circular layer of fabric. The bodice of the dress is kept simple with a simple V neck and is cut flapper fashion straight and tubular to the dropped waist. Curved seaming defines the waist from which the skirt flows out in a full A-line. It looks to have been worn very little and came through cleaning wonderfully. Extremely pretty and feminine. Excellent condition.

Unlined, it slips over the head to wear. The jacket has had one of the clovers repaired and has no closure. The hat has discoloration and is included as part of the original set but is stained so may or not be appropriate for wear. This is a truly spectacular Edwardian linen walking suit that is probably the best example of one that I have ever seen! It is in Museum level quality and in an amazing and wearable modern size too! Usually these are so tiny they are virtually impossible to even think of putting on a real girl now! What makes this even more remarkable is how shockingly modern it feels despite the fact that it is just about 100 years old! The skirt is long and a master class lesson in pleat work, cut and design. The front is flat and skims the hips. A curved panel of lace is set into it under which large knife edged pleats flow to the ground. The back has a vented pleat to accommodate a bustle but is so well executed that it still falls properly without one. The jacket is of couture level quality as well. It is cut with long lean panels of linen intercepted with open work lace. The sleeves cut on a curve and extra panel of lace are inset above each lace wrist. More of these lace medallions circle the hips. A Hand painted button closes it just off side. The linen used is of the absolute highest quality and the lace is very thick and intricate. This is suitable for the collector, exhibitor and also could be worn. Museum quality and truly exceptional.

Note the color is true natural linen color - some of the photos make it appear whiter then what it really is in person. The lace is close to a true white.
Both pieces are unlined. The jacket closes with a huge hand painted button. The skirt closes with a series of hook and eye. All the inside main seams are finished. There are no real outstanding flaws to note. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect (though this is close)! This is somewhat outside of my usual realm so though I know these are at least turn of the century I cannot give an exact date - they could be far older! No matter what the exact date, I do know that both of these pieces are utterly suburb example of antique Chinese textiles and you would be hard pressed to find pieces in this league and quality anymore! The jacket is hand down the best embroidered piece I have had in the shop to date. Red silk is almost completely covered with stunning hand embroidered flowers and leaves with pa medallion on both the front and back of a wedded couple. Every design is edged in a gold metallic thread and huge portions of the design are completely done with that same metallic thread work. Superb woven silk ribbon adorns each cuff and all the edges. The skirt picks up this embroidery work and has added edges of fine silk ribbons worked into the vertical panels. It is all hand finished and I adore the vivid pink tissue silk lining! Stunning and in Museum quality.

Bust: approx 21" flat across the back from seam to seam
Waist: to 23" flat across the back from seam to seam
Length: 27" from neck to hem
Waist: fully adjustable
Hips: fully adjustable
Both pieces are fully lined in pink tissue silk. The pink lining of the jacket is a far brighter pink then the lining of the skirt. The skirt is actually two panels that "button" together and closes with a silk ribbon that loops through a fabric loop on the other side of the skirt waist. Two frog knot and loops are set on the exterior. One looks to have been replaced but it looks old so it is hard to verify if it was or was done deliberately. There are some tiny areas of discoloration here and there inside and outside the skirt and it has a feeling of age but I do not consider these to be a flaw - its a natural evolution of the material used and the age of the piece. Though they seem to match I get the feeling that either the skirt may be older or it was stored differently then the jacket - it just feels older to me. The jacket closes with side frog knots. The inside is clean and the silk strong. There are no real outstanding flaws to note. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect (though this is close)! It is after all 100+ years old!

A stunning and rare example of the "pajama" sets made for the tourist market near the turn of the century in the 1920s. All of the print that you see is block screened onto the feather light tissue silk. The pattern on this set is exception with beautiful boats depicted amongst other scenery and fauna. It is just stunning and a modern girl can break the set up and wear individually or wear with sky high heels as an evening set! The pants are wide legged and have a wide hip and waist - they are meant to be worn loose and just drawn in a the waist with the drawstring to fit. This allows a variety of sizes to wear them. The kimono feel top is stunning - beautiful seam and design! The sleeves are wide and the body of the jacket cut straight and full. It's in wonderful condition and a real piece of wearable art!

Hips: to 23" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Pant length: 33" from waist to bottom
Inseam: 19"
Both pieces are unlined. The top buttons has no closures and the pants have fabric pulls though the waist and slip on to wear. There is a small amount of wear to the fabric near the opening of one of the drawstring pulls and a faint , light watermark on the back of one pant leg near the hem. There is a smudge of a mark on the jacket near the arm seam (not perspiration - it looks like a faint rust stain) and one pinhole. These are all exceptionally minor and mentioned for accuracy. It presents as perfect and the fabric is still strong and wearable.

This gown is insanely gorgeous and in person it is even more so. The depth of the rich glossy black silk velvet and how it feels as it skims over the skin is amazing. It is completely cut on the bias so the dress seems to simply fall into place and the closure is a simple set of hooks set on the base of the low back with another hook at the top of the neck. The emphasis is all on the back with it left almost completely bare. More weights are set into little pouches about the back cascade of silk chiffon ruffles. This hold the silk in place and allows the ruffles to kick and flow as you move. A very clever placement of the weights as it causes an amazing effect when you walk away. Little silk bows sit at the small of the back and conceal the hooks. Because the hooks are spaced you almost get a glimpse of skin between them making the dress almost scandalous. You get the distinct impression that with a simple undoing of a hook or two the dress would slither to the floor and leave a very bare girl! It is heartbreaking and truly beautiful! Excellent condition
Bust: variable because of the open back
Waist: will fit 12"-15" flat across the back from side seam to side seam because of the bias cut
Hips: 18-20" flat across the back from side seam to side seam (cut on the bias so you may have a bit of room here if needed
Length: 58" from neck to the lowest part of the hem
The dip at the back: plunges to 17" from the neck
The dress is unlined and closes with a series of hook & eye under the bows at the low back. The silk velvet is bias cut. The rhinestones and beads are hand set on the collar. little silk pockets are sewn into the edge of the collar and along the edge of the hem where the silk chiffon cascades out at the back - these have metal disks inside to weight the dress properly so it sits on the body perfectly. It came with a black silk chiffon shawl that is not pictured but will be included - this piece is sound and wearable as well. Remarkable condition with no outstanding flaws to note other then the natural patina of time. For a piece that is almost 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition.

The first thing that will strike you is how fine and light the silk is. It seems almost gossamer in weight but it is completely opaque. The color is unbelievable and it would have been dyed by hand and then had that amazingly beautiful print screened onto it a complex layered technique. The colors are vivid and brilliant and cannot be matched today. It is cut very simple but with exquisite details and the fine workmanship expected of the period. I particularly love the under sleeve, done in a fine muslin and edged with lace. You barely see it when it is one but just to know it is there is wonderful. The edges are trimmed in a wide ribbon of silk satin and that same silk forms a multi-petaled bow at the front. Each shoulder is ruched and gathered and then sleeves has a slight kimono-esque feel to them. It weighs ounces and is exquisite! You can definitely use it for the boudoir but it could also be layered over other pieces for a bit of perfect antiquity for the evening. Wonderful condition!

This is stunning matte silk satin faille kimono inspired piece that can be worn as a dress, a light evening coat or even for the boudoir! I fell in love the moment I saw it - it has a fabulous arts and crafts feel to it and I can just imagine the girl who carefully embroidered all those brilliant designs onto the black silk! The fabric is a good heavy weighted silk - it is most like that thicker silk faille you find in Victorian pieces. It is very well made with proper turned and finished interior seams. The embroidery is done by hand and that is clearly seen on the underside. For me the perfect touch is that huge button that sits in typical flapper style to one side. It is utterly unique and a wonderful, superb example of the time period. It is also very strong and wearable and appears to have been worn little if at all!
Shoulder: no defined seam
Bust: 25" from side seam to side seam and continuing to bottom hem
Total length: 46" from mid-neck to bottom hem
The kimono cut will allow this to fit a variety of sizes but please check the measurements above to be sure. Unlined but all the inside seams are turned and finished like french seams. The embroidery work is clearly hand done as seen from the underside. Very light fraying of the yarn threads here and there as one would expect form a piece this old. I do not consider this to be a flaw. It closes with an inside tie and that huge, front set, early plastic carved button and a fabric loop of the same fabric. Hand finishes.
