I Have a Question
This is an exquisite 1960s dress this is covered with an intricate hand applied design made out of beads and sequins in various sized and shapes. The base is made of two layers of a slightly stiffer pale green tinted netting that gives it enough weight to hold the shape of the dress and to support the weight of the added embellishments. You would rarely see this level of handwork on a piece today and if you did the cost to produce it would catapult it onto the world of couture. The design that covers the dress has been meticulously done by hand using the combination of sequins and beads. They are placed heavier around the neckline and edges of the sleeves and then are done in a heavier row down the front. Around the hem there are three dense rows stacked on top of each other. Everywhere else they are scattered to give the design a floral feel and cover the entire dress. It all has a raised 3D effect off of the netting and it is incredible. I took several detail shots so you can get an idea of the workmanship and also included a shot of the back of the fabric so that you can see the handwork through the netting. My client was sure it was a designer piece but women removed the labels during this time period so its no longer known who it is from. It is a remarkable example of the fine work being done during this time period regardless and is quite beautiful. I also love that you can change the look depending on the hue you wear under the netting. Excellent condition.
Made of two layers of the netting but is still slightly transparent. It closes with a series of buttons down the back. All of the work appears to be hand done.

I Have a Question
This caftan dress is gorgeous. The cut is loose and easy and it is incredibly easy to wear. It is made out of what feels like a soft raw cotton that has a loose woven texture to it. I love how the raw feeling fabric becomes a part of the design element of the dress in itself. The neckline is cut wide across so it sits more towards the outside edges of your shoulder. It is cut loose and easy to the waist. The waist has elastic in it, so this is a dress you just slip on and go. Under the waist the skirt is made of three panels of the same fabric with two horizontal seams joining them together. The first seam sits just below the hips and then there is another just below the knee area. This adds both a little extra detail to the skirt and it also helps give it some fullness as it falls to the floor. The sleeves are spectacular. Each one is very full. They extend down from the shoulder where a little bit of gathering sits across the top of the shoulder, and then they extend out from the waist. They actually bell out a touch as they go so they are very wide by the time they get to the end of the sleeve. Each one is a full 34" around its hem. The floral appliqué that run down each sleeve is what really makes the dress special. These start near the inner seam of the sleeve and then are set around and over the sleeve to the other side. Each flower is cut out and top stitched around their edges with additional stitching to follow the pattern of the flower. This makes the edges curl up and off of the fabric. This is all purposeful to give it a bit with 3-D feel. That pop of bright pink is fantastic against the raw natural colour of the dress. It can easily be worn without a belt as I have photoed it for you but you could also cinch in the waist with a belt if you wanted to add more shape. Excellent condition.
Unlined and slips on to wear. Feels like 100% cotton. The easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

I Have a Question
These lovely little hand embroidered cotton Mexican dresses are works of art in my opinion and this one is an amazing example. These were made by hand by local artisans for the tourist market. I think this one is one of the prettiest I have ever seen and I think I will be sad to see it go once it sells.
The base fabric is a more crisp white cotton that has been top stitched with little vertical seams that cover the entire dress. These add visual detail and also let the dress be shaped so that it opens up the way that it does. Running between those long vertical stitches are a hand embroidered floral design. That is what adds the bright pops of colour to the dress that you see. It is incredible. Each sleeve is cut so that it expands out as it reaches its end and they are quite full. Each is a full 36" around the end of the sleeve. At the end of the sleeve you also see that they have added horizontal top stitching to form a bit of a grid pattern for added detail. The same grid pattern is done around the hem of the dress as well and I love it. The body of the dress is loose and easy. It skims over the bust and then gradually widens out to be very full by the time it reaches the hem. Everything about this dress is beautiful and it is rare to find one in white that is still so crisp and clean. It is a beautiful dress. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with a painted metal zipper at the back. The easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

I Have a Question
This dress is wonderful and the cut of it is the perfection that you expect to find from this time period. It is made from a black crepe fabric that has a touch of a moss crepe feeling texture running through it. The design of the dress itself is stunning. The bodice is cut to skim over the body and the neckline sits high up around the neck with no collar. At the back of the neck there are four fabric covered buttons and loops. Each sleeve is capped and there is a touch of volume built into the tops of each shoulder by the gathering of the fabric and slight padding along the outer edge of the seam there. The waist nips in with tiny vertical gathers into little half seams that come out from the sides. Ties are attached at each side so you can bring the shape in at the waist as much as you like. The skirt is made up of vertical panels that are cut so that it flares out as it reaches the hem in that perfect swing skirt cut of this era. The final perfect detail are those two red felt bows. One sits just below the shoulder on the bodice and the other around the hip area. Each is top stitched onto the dress and there is a little bouquet of felt flowers in their middles. The flowers are set up and off the crepe. The flowers on each of them is made from layers of red, purple and yellow felt with a little greenery behind them. It is just darling. One of the best forties dresses I have had in. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips over the head to wear. It buttons at the back of the neck and you adjust the waist with the attached ties on either side. Perhaps the tiniest bit of flatness of the fabric here and there from being pressed over the years, but really in remarkable condition for its age and I am being very picky.

I Have a Question
This is such a pretty dress. It is made of a really unusual fabric that is almost like a really fine tightly woven burlap. I don't think it is an actual burlap but it has that texture to it but in a way that feels elevated. I've never actually seen a fabric like this before you would certainly never see fabric like this in a modern textile. If you are a collector of pieces from this time period you know what I am talking about. The fabric is light in weight and is cut to skim over you. I love the floral print that runs over the entire dress. All of the flowers appear to have been hand-painted onto the fabric. The backdrop is a pale blue that has a slight tint of green to it and then the flowers are done in soft pastels. The neckline is set an a V and the side that overlaps down the front is done in a pretty curving scalloped design. The dress snaps to close under the curves with a series of hidden set snaps. The sleeves have that same pretty scalloped finish to their edges. The waist is seamed but easy and the dress comes with its original matching fabric belt loop buckle so that you can cinch it in for added shape. There are tiny pleats at the top of the hips and these open out to give the skirt some added fullness. The bottom of the skirt is finished with two wide grosgrain ribbons, one in a pale blue, and the other one a pale grey-taupe colour. It is so pretty. Great condition with a note below.
Unlined and closes down the front with hidden set snaps. Hand finishes throughout. I do see light fading across the top of the shoulders and some minor marks on it here and there. Given the age of the dress it is in remarkable condition and so pretty.

I Have a Question
This gorgeous little 1960s dress is one of those things you will only ever find in vintage. It has no label and it is so fabulous. In this particular case, the dress.doesn't really need a label to justify how amazing it is. It is made out of a red chiffon that has been pleated into sharp little knife pleats. These run around the entire dress and each one is perfectly match to its neighbour. It has no sleeves and the dress simply falls from the shoulders down to the hem where it opens up to be quite full. The lightness of the fabric combined with the pleating give it a swinging bouncy f that I love. This is a dress that will move and float around you at your slightest movement. The hem has been finished with a an edge of stiffening so it gives it a slightly ruffled effect. This adds to the movement that the dress has even more. The neckline on this one is the star of the show. It is. extremely and densely embellished with a brilliant array of beads sequins and glass rhinestones in a variety of gold and colours. These have been applied with a heavy hand and create a fabulous 3D jewelled bib. It runs down in a point at the front over the shoulders and circles the back of the neck. It is like it has its own built-in jewels. Such a great dress. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a red silk and zips to close at the back, and then the top chiffon layer buttons to close over the zipper I see a touch grubbiness along the inside of the neck and edges of the arm on the lining only. Unlabelled.

Amazing 1960s Unlabelled Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Black Silk Brocade Shift Dress w Floral Pattern
I Have a Question
This dress is part of a set that I have from a client who decided to keep the coat. Having seen the coat I know that it is a Dior but the dress is unlabelled. It is a gorgeous little piece that is super well made and so representative of its era. I love it.
This dress is so simple and yet cut so beautifully. It has a sleek and simple shape that skims over the body and comes in slightly as it nears the hem. Clever and subtle seams shape the dress around you so that it is very flattering. It has no sleeves and the neck scoops down just a bit at the front. Vertical seams help to shape it over the bust as it skims over you to the low dropped waist seam. It curves in slightly just above that for a touch of shape that I love. The skirt is gathered in around that waist seam and then curves out and over the hips to fall to about the knee depending on your height. The fabric is beautiful. It is a black silk brocade that has a subtle ribbing for texture. It has a floral design woven into the fabric that covers the entire dress for a black on black pattern. The thread flowers catch the light differently and it is fabulous in person. And there is pockets on each hip. Excellent condition
Partly lined through the upper bodice and the rest of the dress is unlined. It closes with a back painted metal zipper. Hand finishes. Pockets on each hip

I Have a Question
This is a spectacular unlabeled caftan that is one of those piece that illustrates why we all fall in love with vintage. It is fantastically beautiful. The base layer is a beautiful soft silver grey silk chiffon that has just a touch of a pale green feel to it. The entire dress is densely detailed with the most amazing coverage of silver beads, silver sequins and silver metal thread. In an amongst all of that are rows of little faux pearls that give the dress a little added weight so that it falls perfectly in place once on the body. These all cover the entire dress and catch the light from every angle. To add even more glamour all of the edges of the dress are finished in wide bands of tightly spaced rows of the silver sequins and pearls. The pattern on the body of the caftan mixes wide bands of sequins with huge sequin and pearl circles and then more sequins and edged by the silver thread are scattered all in between. As good as it looks in these photos it is even better in person. The dress is extremely easy to wear. It has a v neck at the front and then is attached along the outer edges only with small slits on either side at the top to slip your arms through. This will allow it to fit a vast array of size and body types. To wear it you simply slip it over the head and go. It's one of the best and most elaborate caftans I have seen and its even better in person. It is gorgeous. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear. I see a small area of darkening to the fabric just below the neck at the back that you see more on the inside than the out. Please see the final photo here. I see a couple of tiny areas here ask there like this on the caftan near the hem but nothing that detracts. The open cut should allow it to fit a full range of sizes
From widest point flat across edge to edge: 56"
Length: 54" from shoulder to centre hem at the longest point and the outer edges hang a bit lower when its on

I Have a Question
This is one of those dresses that the closer you get to it the more you realize just how special it is. My photos are not coming close to doing it justice. The cut is simple but dramatic due to the combination of the lace and sequins. It is cut to skim over your bust and waist to the slightly dropped waist. The skirt falls from under that with some volume built in where is attached in at that seam. This creates a long lean silhouette that suggests the body underneath and gives the illusion of height. The neckline is a simple scoop at the front is edged in sequins. The sleeves are ct straight so they have some width to them. I love that the hem is finished ins a curving scallop to follow the pattern of the lace. The dress is unlined so you would have to wear something underneath and this gives you a great opportunity to use any colour to change the look and feel of the dress from a nude for an illusion dress feel to any colour you can think of. The lace is a soft pale grey and then the entire dress is densely covered with hand placed sequins set to follow parts of the design underneath. They have an iridescent blue tone to them that really adds to the prettiness of the dress. The effect that this creates when you move and they catch the light is wonderful. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with back zipper. There are maybe a few sequins missing here and there but no obvious bare spots. The lace has some stretch. Tiny area of lightening on the skirt that is lost in the folds. It is meant to be looser through the body so on a smaller frame it will feel more oversized
Sleeves: 25" and the upper sleeve is 16 inches around
Shoulders: 15"
Bust: 18-23" flat across from side seam to side seam
Natural waist: 17-20" flat across from side seam to side seam

I Have a Question
This jumpsuit is just the perfect piece. The bodice is strapless with elastic around the top and then more elastic goes around the waist. It zips up the front and this just makes it super comfortable and easy to wear. The top is cut to kind of blouse around you and I'm obsessed with the two little tiny top stitched pockets that sit on either side. It skims over the hips and there is one long seam that starts just under the pocket on each breast and curves down the full length of the jumpsuit to the hem. The legs have the perfect cut where are full through the leg and then flare out as they reach the hem. The fabric is a heavier field in cotton that's not quite as heavy as a canvas but has that feel to it. The colour is a pale gray. I love the curved slash pockets that sit on each hip. It is a piece that is incredibly easy to wear and it is just amazing. Excellent condition
Unlined and zips to close at the front. Elastic through the waist and the top of the bodice. The measurements below show the comfortable range of the elastic while laying flat.
Top elastic seam: 11-16.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bust: to 16" flat across from side seam to side seam

I Have a Question
I am very excited to bring you our latest mini capsule collection. This is one of nine dresses from a single owner collection. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. For this capsule we have moved forward to the 1940s and 1950s. Really good examples from this era are becoming increasingly hard to find and these are all gorgeous little examples of that time period. This is just a tiny sampling of her overall collection and I hope to have more of these capsules for you in the future.
This is an exceptional example of the pretty sundresses that were being made in the late 1940s and into the 1950s. It has a touch of a Hawaiian dress influence and it is just the prettiest dress I have seen like this in a while. Really great examples of dresses from the forties are almost impossible to find anymore and this one is amazing. The fabric is very light and it feels almost weightless once on. The fabric is a deep blue - black silk crepe that has a pretty white flower print that runs over its surface. The print is set so that it wraps and curves around you and this only adds to the curves the dress creates. The dress is suspended from two wide straps made of the same silk and the bodice is cut to be fitted to your curves. The waist nips in and then the skirt curves over and hugs the hips and falls in a slim pencil cut to come out slightly at the hem. It has no vent which is how these dresses got their name... the bottom hem makes you have to take smaller steps hence the 'wiggle' that is created when you walk. Then, to up the glam, there are hand cut out flowers that are attached to the bodice and sprinkled around the waist and over the hip. These have been covered with hand applied sequins to catch the light. It is fantastic. Excellent condition with a small note below.
The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a side metal zipper. The appliques are hand applied and sequinned. Each applique has a netted backing. There is a touch of sun fading to the top of one strap. Please see the photo after the label shot.

I Have a Question
This is a stunning dress made of a feather light silk chiffon that is completely cut on the bias. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production. It is almost weightless and feels like nothing once on the body. If you are a collector of pieces from this time period you know what I'm talking about. The dress slips over the head and drapes into place with little snaps on one side. The silk immediately will skims over your curves as it drapes and skims down the body from bust to hips. As it nears the hem it flares out beautifully. I love the soft dreamy floral and leaf print that runs over the entire dress. The colours are muted and soft and as the print layers over itself it becomes even more beautiful. The sleeves are incredible and I shot them for you to see. They are pieced together with little angled individual pieces all around and it is so unusual and pretty. This one also comes with a light and easy jacket that is made of the same silk chiffon as the dress. It has an even more elaborate version of those incredible sleeves and it feel magical. The front dips into a V to follow the neckline of the dress underneath and then wraps around you. It snaps into place at the inner side and then there is a big exterior silk covered button on the opposite side. It also comes with a matching long silk tie belt that you can use several ways. Around the waist of the dress, over the jacket for added shape, or around the neck. And the dress is so well made that I think you could wear it either way around even. The feel of the dress changes dramatically whether you wear it on its own with just the jacket, with a belt, or with all three pieces combined. I love that about it because it just gives you more options on how you're able to wear it. This one is an absolute beauty. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear with snaps on one side. The jacket buttons to close and snaps inside the other side. Original silk tie belt included. Cut on the bias. The edges are hand rolled. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. I see some very tiny marks here and there but they get lost in the pattern. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes. These are meant fit a slight bit oversized on the body. It will just drape more on a smaller frame

I Have a Question
I love these jersey jumpsuits from the 1970s. This is the kind of design that would have ruled the night clubs of the seventies and for good reason. The jumpsuit has this sexy and easy way about it. This is the kind of piece that you just put on and go.
It is made from an easy to wear and care for jersey in a deep burgundy colour. This is a wash and wear fabric that moves well and drapes fabulously once on the body. The legs are cut wide and full. Each is a full 38" around by the hem. The body underneath is more straight cut and easy so that it is very comfortable to wear. Over that inner body is a draped panel that falls from the one shoulder and curves down low on the opposite side. This meets a draped panel at the back that mirrors the one at the front. This is all suspended from that one shoulder leaving the other shoulder bare. To get into it you just step into it, button it to close along the top of the shoulder and zip up the side. When you are standing still it looks like you are wearing a one shoulder draped dress but when you move you realize that it does have those wide legged pants. So it is the best of both worlds. The jersey travels perfectly. Throw it on for day with flats or wear sky high heels at night. It is a fabulous versatile piece. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear with buttons along the top of one shoulder and a zipper at the side. The fabric has some stretch. The easy cut and stretch of the fabric should allow it to fit a range of sizes. It appears to have been worn very little if at all

I Have a Question
The three dresses I have for you today are more from that same single owner collection that I recently did two capsules from. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. The first two drops centered around the 1930s but we have expanded into her collection to add some other decades this time as well. This is one of those that go beyond the 1930s and it is just fabulous. The silk just has to be seen in person to be believed.
As mentioned above the silk on this set is unbelievable. It is that silk from the fifties that is incredibly soft to the touch. And this one has an added bit of specialness to it because all of the floral print that you see on this dress is actually a ultra soft velvet chenille fused directly into the silk. The tactile sensation of touching this dress is fantastic. This is also the type of silk that almost seems like the print is glowing from within. It is really spectacular. The dress has that classic fifties sheath silhouette with an almost box shape that is taken in at the waist for a touch of shape. The neckline is cut wide across and there's an open notch at the top of each shoulder. It skims over the bust and blouses softly over the waist. The waist is seamed for shape and is brought in more with the matching belt that comes with the set. I love the large flat bow of the belt and how the ends of the belt have a raw fringe detail to them. The skirt falls from under that with just a touch the volume through the hips created from the beautiful pleating that is set into the waist. It falls to the floor widening out just slightly as it nears the hem. There is an open slit on each side and these are interesting because they are actually set slightly towards the back. So you get this very straight panel affect down the back. It is gorgeous. The jacket is over the top and fabulous. It has soft shoulders and is cropped to match where the waist sits. The sleeves go to just below the elbows. Each sleeve is wide cut and finished with an elaborate ostrich feather hem dyed to a inky black. There are no closures at the front of the jacket and it is beautifully seamed. The collar has another elaborate finish of feathers. I love that the two pieces allow you to mix and match with other things in your wardrobe and that it is such a different look whether or not you choose to wear the jacket with the dress. It is spectacular. Excellent condition
The dress is lined in a black silky rayon through the bodice and a black netting through the skirt. The jacket is lined in a black silky rayon. The dress closes with a zipper at the back and the belt closes with hook and eye under the bow. The jacket has no closures. I see a tiny repair to the lining of the jacket otherwise it appears to have been worn very little if at all

This is just a wonderful dress from this time period that is made of a heavy rich silk crepe. The fabric is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production. If you are a collector of pieces from this time period you know that this one is special. The vivid floral print that runs over the entire dress is just spectacular and my photos do not come close to doing it justice to what it looks like in person. The colours are amazingly bright still and it feels joyful just to look at this dress. I do not think you could be unhappy when you wear this one. A pretty bow detail at the front with a little straps of the same fabric that slip through a loophole and then that you tie to gather in the base of the sleeve. I didn't photo it but there's actually two more matching little straps that you can do the same thing for the back. This gives you the choice to wear the top a couple different ways because you could do bows on all of them, none of them, or any of the four. It is so clever. The front has a more squared off neckline and the fabric is gathered vertically over the bust and back in pretty little hand-gathers for detail. The dress is so well made that I think you could wear it either way around. The waist is finished with a wide band of the same fabric with multiple small horizontal panels stitched together to make that band. The skirt is gathered into that and flows to the floor and has a pretty amount of fabric in it. When you have it on it will waft and float around you a bit. It is so pretty. Between the sweet and romantic design and that spectacular print this one is an absolute beauty. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes at the side with a painted metal zipper. The fabric that makes the bows at the base of the shoulders to is removable and four will be included with the dress. Hand finishes throughout

Outstanding designs from these eras are increasingly hard to find. This one is drop dead gorgeous and even better in person.
This is such a pretty one. It is made of a beautiful light silk crepe and this fabric choice has held the colour beautifully all these years. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production. If you are a collector of pieces from this time period you know what I'm talking about. The dress slips over the head and zips to close down one side. The silk is light in weight and is cut to skim over you. I love the vivid floral print that runs over the entire dress. The colours are amazingly bright still and it feels joyful just to look at. The coral and pinks just pop off the inky black backdrop. The neckline is squared off at both the front and back. The sleeves come out from the sides of the neckline and then float over the top of the shoulders. There is some volume to them and on the sides they cross over each other. It is really a pretty and unusual detail and one of those things that makes this so identifiable as being from the thirties. The waist is seamed with that pretty angled seaming of this time period and on one hip there is a gathered swag of silk that gives some extra volume there. You could belt the waist to add some shape. Two vents are at the bottom of the hem on each side so the dress has a little kick when you walk. This one is an absolute beauty. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with a side zipper. Light hand made padding in each shoulder. Hand finishes throughout

The first two drops centered around the 1930s but we have expanded into her collection to add some other decades this time as well. Outstanding designs from these eras are increasingly hard to find. This one is especially interesting because it actually has a label that says 'Dress Design Copyrighted 1934' giving us the exact date which is very unusual for this time period.
This is a stunning dress made of a beautiful bias cut silk with the most amazing floral pattern covering it surface. The colours are a mix of ivory, pale pale blues and purples in several tones and hues done in a flower pattern that completely covers the silk. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production and it is a jewel of a find. The dress simply slips over the head with one section of snaps that follow one of the angled seams at the waist and then runs up the side. Once it simply drapes into place over the body. The silk molds to your curves as it skims over you from bust to hips. As it nears the hem it flares out beautifully. It has that classic curved and angled seaming seen during this time period. The front neckline drapes slightly at the neckline and then the back dips into a V and little bows are tied and stitched into on the straps to widen out the bare expanse this creates. I think if you were brave and perhaps with some double sided tape you could wear this the other way around as well. This one also comes with a light and easy jacket with long sleeves that have a puffed rounded shape to the upper sleeve and then narrow to the wrist. This is sort so it drapes down a bit but once on an actual arm it will be more apparent than how it is on my dress form. There are long ties that extend out from the neck to tie it in place and then is crosses over itself to close with two silk covered buttons. The collar is low and is backed up with a solid pale purple silk that adds an extra splash of colour. The feel of the dress changes dramatically whether you wear it on its own or with the jacket. This one also, matching silk fabric belt that has what looks to be mother of pearl buckles on either side. You can wear this over or under the jacket for even more styling options. Excellent overall condition with a small note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear and cut on the bias. There is a section that closes with snaps along the seam on one side. Many of the inner seams are finished by hand. There is very minor darkening to the fabric at the base of the V that would not really photo and I am being pretty picky. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

The first two drops centered around the 1930s but we have expanded into her collection to add some other decades this time as well. Outstanding designs from these eras are increasingly hard to find. Her collection represents some of the best of the era that I have seen in a very long time. Most are in excellent condition and the few included that do have some flaws are such outstanding designs that I feel there is still room for someone to love them and wear them as they are, or perhaps to put in the additional work to repair them.
This dress is from the late 1940s and is made from a ivory coloured silk twill. The silk fabric choice keeps the dress light and easy to wear while still holding the lines and volume of the dress. It is very pretty and might even make an amazing wedding dress for the bride looking for a non-traditional choice or as an alternative dress in a more extended wedding celebration. And of course it could also be worn to any event. Wide straps curve from the back and are set so that they sit towards the outsides of the shoulder. This leaves the neckline set wider then normal before it dips down into a V at the front. It crosses over itself and is softly draped and gathers over the breasts. I love how one of the roses has been cut out and appliqued by hand onto one side of the bodice so that it sits perfectly rather then a print that would get lost in the folds. This attention to detail is what makes dresses from this time period so special. The bust is shaped through seaming and the bodice is cut to curve around you and then it nips in just underneath to form the waist. The skirt falls from under that point and widens out quite a bit by the hem. I photoed it without anything underneath so you can see how it falls on its own. If you wanted to add a crinoline underneath you could make it incredibly full from here. The back is cut longer then the front to give it a slight trained feel and the silk is fuller there so that the volume is greater. It is a gorgeous dress and such a rarity to find such a spectacular sample from this time period anymore. Great overall condition with a notes to review below
The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Light built in boning through the back bodice. I see light foxing on the silk here and there but it is faint. I also see the edge just under the arm has a tiny bit of shattering and there is spot near the hem that has an area of shattering. The dress came through cleaning and these remained stable. Please see the final four photos here.

This is a stunning dress made of a beautiful coral red early satin rayon that is completely cut on the bias. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production and it is a jewel of a find. The dress has no closures, it just simply slips over the head and drapes into place. The silk molds to your curves as it drapes and skims down the body from bust to hips. As it nears the hem it flares out beautifully. It has that classic curved seaming seen during this time period and even the little snap closures at the side are set and hidden along the side seam. The front has a keyhole neckline ties into place with attached ties above that. This is topped by a wide rounded collar that is densely covered in little round seed beads. At the back there are these amazing cut outs on either side of a center panel for a unexpected flash of bare skin. This one also comes with a light and easy jacket with wide beaded sleeves that have the same dense application of seed beads onto them. There is a little hook at the neck and then long ties extend out from the waist to tie it in place. It is all gathered along the beck and bottom hem so poufs out at the back with a volume when on. The feel of the dress changes dramatically whether you wear it on its own or with the jacket. This one is an absolute beauty. Excellent overall condition with a small note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear and cut on the bias. There is a section that closes with snaps along the seam on one side. All the inner seams are finished by hand or pinked. I see a mark on the front skirt around the knee and there are several light marks and scuffs scattered here and there. There is very minor darkening under the arm seams. This particular fabric is known for this. Please see the last five photos here. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This dress is from the late 1940s early 1950s and is made from a stunning deep ruby red silk. The design is outstanding and harkens back to some of the best looks that designers were doing during this time period. The silk fabric choice keeps the dress light and easy to wear while still holding the lines and volume of the dress. The dress is strapless and the bodice is fitted with light internal boning built in for structure and to hold the dress in place around you. The bust is shaped through seaming and the bodice is cut to curve around you and then it nips in just under the bust. That point under the bust is highlighted further buy a band of the same silk that wraps all the way around you. A flat bow sits at the center of the front and then that is highlighted by an incredible rhinestone piece that is actually set on a curve to wrap over the center of the bow. The skirt falls from under that point and it is fantastic. I photoed it without anything underneath so you can see how it falls on its own. If you wanted to add a crinoline underneath you could make it incredibly full from here. The skirt is all pieced together with long panels of red silk that start at that point under the bust and then widen out as they near the hem to get the volume that you see. At the back it dips down to a slightly lower seam and the silk is all gathered into that so that the volume is greater there. It is a gorgeous dress and such a rarity to find such a spectacular sample from this time period anymore. Excellent condition with a note to review below
The dress is fully lined in a matching silk organza. It closes with a back painted metal zipper. Built in boning through the bodice. There are large silver snaps set inside the bodice that I think someone added at a later date to hold some kind of undergarment in place. I've left them as to not damage the silk lining underneath. There are two spots on the silk that did not budge with cleaning. Fortunately they fall inside a fold so when the dress is on you do not see them. You can see in the full length shots that you can't see it at all but when you spread the silk out flat they are there.
Bust: 17" flat across from side seam to side seam with up to about an B-C cup of added room at the front
Band under the bust: 15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Natural waist: 12-13" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: open
Length: 43" from top of bodice to hem

This beautiful deep red dress is made of an early hammered silk satin that has an unusual weight to it in that it is slightly more structured then the more fluid examples you usually see. This helps the dress retain its shape and volume. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production. It has this subtle texture to it and is absolutely incredible to see in person. The dress has no closures, it just simply slips over the head and drapes into place. The bodice skims over you at the front and then the back is left almost completely bare. A matching fabric belt adds shape at the waist. The front dips in a V and the collar extends out into these unusual sleeves that curve over the front of your shoulder and then loop around under the arm to connect there. It is so unusual and incredible. When this is on this it is going to create a scoop of fabric that falls behind and around your arm. To help hold the upper part of the dress in place, two straps extend from just under that flaring silk at the shoulder and run down the back. The skirt falls from there. At the front it has and almost column feel to it that widens out to the hem. At the back there is a full extra panel inset that begins at the base of the scoop at the back and falls all the way to the hem. Where that extra panel hits the hip area it opens into large inverted pleats on either side which gives the back even more volume. The back of the skirt is also cut slightly longer so you get this beautiful sweeping feel of skirts behind you. This one even came with a pretty rhinestone dress clip that sits at the base of the V at the front. It is an absolute beauty and so unusual. Excellent condition with a small note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear and cut on the bias. All the inner seams are finished by hand and/or pinked. It comes with the matching fabric belt and dress clip.. There is the occasional very small scuff to the fabric here and there and there are some light fold marks in the fabric from storage that I have not been able to completely get out. Some grubbiness at the hem. All minor but mentioned for accuracy. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition.

I am so excited to bring you the second part of our 1930s capsule. This is one of a dozen dresses from a single owner collection of beautiful 1930s dresses. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. Outstanding designs from this era are increasingly hard to find. Her collection represents some of the best of the era that I have seen in a very long time. Most are in excellent condition and the few included in the capsule that do have some flaws are such outstanding designs that I feel there is still room for someone to love them and wear them as they are, or perhaps to put in the additional work to repair them. This is just a tiny sampling of her overall collection and I hope to have more of these capsules for you in the future.
This is such an unusual and beautiful dress and the fabric is stunning. It is made out of a bias cut silk crepe chiffon with a deep blue base colour. This then has beautiful deep pink flowers mixed with pale yellow flowers and greenery scattered over every inch. The dress is completely cut on the bias. The neckline sips into a V and the bodice skims over you to a seam at the waist. I have added a ribbon to some of the photos so that you can see what it looks like with added shape. The ribbon is not original to the dress but will be included. The fabric is as light as air and the entire dress weighs ounces. The skirt has several yards of fabric in it and when you move the movement that the lightness of the fabric creates as it floats around you is incredible. The entire dress has a feel of transparency to it. If you are very brave you could wear it with something nude underneath or you can change the feel of the dress by changing the colour of the slip underneath. The sleeves are the perfect finishing touch and are a little unusual. They are these pouffed capped sleeves that are gathered along their outer edge. Inside of each sleeve is a little strap of material that connects the top of the gathering to the top of the shoulders. This just hangs suspended inside the sleeve to help hold it up and in place. I have never actually seen this before and it's quite clever. The very ends of each one is made from the same fabric as the body of the dress. It's very pretty. Excellent condition with one note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear with snaps on one side. Hand finishes throughout. I see a small repair on the top edge of the back and there is some thinning to the fabric around the base of the V. Please see the last two photos here. The ribbon is not original to the dress but will be included. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

The fabric on this is similar in texture and feel to the moss crepe that you see from the 1970s. It is gorgeous in person. It is also surprisingly long for a piece from this time period. The dress is meant to be on an actual body and my dress form is not doing it anywhere near the justice it deserves. The bodice is cut in that loose and easy way over the bust that pieces from this time period were done in and this one has a lot of volume. The waist nips in and there is a matching crepe covered belt to cinch in the waist and add shape. The skirt falls to the floor under that and is made from several yards of the bias cut crepe. When you stand still it falls in a smooth column but when you move you see just how much volume is there. It slips on to wear and then it snaps into place with a small opening that runs down one side. The sleeves are long and they extend out from the waist area. They are cut in an almost kimono feel that has been flipped upside down so that the long square part of them is at the top of the sleeve. Part of each sleeve is open and there is a wide panel of an intricate design made of hand placed beads sequins and small glass rhinestones. The way that the sleeves sit, each sleeve kind of falls towards the back, so you get this incredible draped effect. It is quite incredible. It is truly gorgeous and if you are a fan of these pieces from the late twenties and into the thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition with one small note below.
Unlined and closes at the side with hidden snaps. Comes its original belt. Hand finished throughout. The belt is a slightly different colour than the rest of the dress. I see small colour variations and slight fading on the dress here and there but the amount of fabric that it has allows it all just blend once on. The bead work is all done by hand. For a garment almost 100 years old it is truly amazing. The unique and open cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

This is a stunning dress made of a heavy rich feeling silk satin that is completely cut on the bias. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production. It is not so heavy that it feels uncomfortable but it does have a good weight that feels beautiful on the body. If you are a collector of pieces from this time period you know what I'm talking about. The dress slips over the head and drapes into place with little snaps on one side. The silk immediately will mold to your curves as it drapes and skims down the body from bust to hips. As it nears the hem it flares out beautifully. I love the vivid floral print that runs over the entire dress. The colours are amazingly bright still and it feels joyful just to look at. This one also comes with a light and easy jacket that is made of the same silk as the dress. It has pretty capped sleeves and a curved scalloped finish that runs all the way around its edges. The front dips into a V and the back has a much deeper V. The dress is so well made that I think you could wear it either way around depending on how brave you want to be. I photoed it with the deeper V to the front and to the back. I also added a pretty black ribbon around the waist to show how you can add some shape. It is not original to the dress but will be included. The feel of the dress changes dramatically whether you wear it on its own with just the jacket, with a belt, or with all three pieces combined and of course with the deeper V to the back or front. I love that about it because it just gives you more options on how you're able to wear it. This one is an absolute beauty. Excellent overall condition with a small note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear with snaps on one side. The jacket has no closures. Cut on the bias. All the inner seams are finished by hand. I see a small run of colour on one flower on the bodice. It's just like part of the pattern but I've included a photo of it here for you to see. Please see the last four photos here. The ribbon belt is not original but will be included. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This is a stunningly beautiful silk velvet dress. It is really just incredible and it is now so rare and hard to find these in such amazing condition. This is a dress that is meant to be on an actual body and my dress form is not doing it anywhere near the justice it deserves. The dress is cut in that loose and easy way that pieces from this time period were done in. It is meant to skim over the bust, waist and hips and then the skirt falls to the floor from there. When you are standing still the skirt falls in a smooth column but when you move you see just how much volume is there. The upper bodice is incredibly beautiful. The collar is high and the points on each side of it are exaggerated in length and size. The bodice is cut loose and easy. It gathers in slightly to the curved seam that sits just above the natural waist line. A little velvet bow sets at the base of the collar and then between that and the waist seam are two of the most incredible early buttons that I've ever seen. Each is a three dimensional burst to represent a star, or perhaps a snowflake, or even a flower. They are made of individual early frosted acrylic plastic beads that wire into place. The base of each looks to perhaps be an early dress clip that has been sewn into place. They are so pretty. The sleeves are the final perfect touch. Each is cut wider at their tops and then narrow down to the wrist. Once on an actual body this dress truly comes to life and it is magnificent. If you are a fan of these pieces from the thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a series of snaps at the side and with a button that sits above a keyhole at the back of the neck. A snap at each cuff. Hand finished throughout. For a garment 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

I Have a Question
This dress is absolutely drop dead stunning. It is made out of a black crepe and is completely cut on the bias. To put it on, it simply slips on. There is a tiny little detail row of buttons just under the low back that are mainly decorative in nature but add to the prettiness of the dress. Once on, it drapes and molds to the body in a way that is fantastic. My photos do not come close to doing it justice. It is a dress that has to be on the body to come to life. The upper bodice is cut with some volume and blouses out below the wide cut neckline. There is an angled seam that sits under the bust and the fabric gathers slightly along that seam. The sleeves come directly out from the base of that seam and they are extremely wide at the upper shoulder and then narrow down to fit the arm to the wrist. There is a little gathered area near each elbow so it can bend. The sleeves end in little pointed angles and there is a row of tightly spaced black crepe buttons to close each wrist. Under the bodice it skims over the waist and hips and then flares out as it nears the hem. The bias cut molds the dress to the body and makes it incredibly comfortable to wear. What sets this one apart is the incredible detail that circles around the base of each arm on the bodice. There is a panel of applique that runs down the front, under the base of the arm and then all the way up the back and over the shoulder on each side. Both are detailed with thousands of tiny faux pearls, glass seed beads and tiny glass rhinestones. It gives it this Avante Garde edgy feel that I love. It is incredible. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips ahead to wear. There is a decorative row of buttons at the small of the back. A row of buttons on each cuff. Hand finished throughout and the appliques panels are hand applied. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This is a stunning inky black silk velvet dress with beautiful detailing. These are always a challenge to photo since it is entirely cut on the bias and is really only best seen once on an actual body. My dress form is not doing it anywhere near the justice it deserves. The bodice is cut to drape loose and easy over the bust with the waist brought in just a touch through angled seaming. It skims over the hips and the skirt falls to the floor under that. When you stand still the skirt falls in a smooth column but when you move you get a pretty amount of volume and movement. The dress slips over the head to wear and has an opening at the neck that does up with a series of velvet covered buttons. The collar is gathered around to the front of the neck where there are strips made out of glass rhinestones that hold the collar in place and add pretty detail. This one came with a stunning rhinestone belt that is made of four rows of rhinestones stacked to form a pyramid or triangle on each side of the buckle. The oversized emerald cut glass rhinestones catch the light incredibly. The band is a black crepe and it hooks into place at the front for instant extra glamour. The sleeves are gorgeous. They are cut extremely wide and full to a seam just under the elbow and then they narrow down sharply to the wrist. Almost like a poet's sleeve. Running down the top fuller part of the sleeve are two open slits. The band between slits lets the fabric sit on top of your arm and then you see your arm through the slits. The full part of the sleeve drapes under that. They are insanely beautiful and I love them. If you are a fan of these pieces from the late twenties / early thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition with a small note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear with buttons at the neck as described above. All the inner seams are finished by hand and or pinked. The end of the belt is a different fabric from the dress and may not be original to the dress but it's the one that came with it from my client. You could easily switched it out for a velvet if that bothered you. The buckle is just too incredible not to keep them together. There is one button missing at the back of the neck. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This is one of the star pieces of this group and it is an incredible example of the fine work that was done in this time period. It is now so rare and hard to find these in such amazing condition. As beautiful as it looks here on my dress form, it is not doing it anywhere near the justice it deserves. It is really a dress that is meant to be on an actual body. The dress is cut in that beautiful and easy way that pieces from this time period were done in. It is meant to skim over the bust, waist and hips and then the skirt falls to the floor from there. With that flared out lower skirt you also get incredible movement when you move and you see just how much volume is there. The upper bodice dips into a squared off neckline with a pretty gathering of fabric on the seams on either side running vertically to the waist. The sleeves are high and capped with a pretty fullness to them created by clever gathering and ruching. Tiny hand made pads sit just inside each shoulder for the most delicate of shaping. The waist is seamed but cut loose and easy. It has its original soft fabric belt that you can use to cinch the waist and add shape if you wish. It skims softly over the hips and at about the knee a panel is set on curved and angled seams that allow the lower skirt to flare out. The movement it has when you walk is incredibly soft and romantic feeling. The dress is made out of an ivory silk chiffon that is as light as a feather. It has a touch of transparency to it and this gives the pattern a beautiful and light feel that is stunning. Huge coral flowers mixed with paler pastel blooms are scattered over the entire dress. The fabric is cut on the bias and to wear it, you just slip it on and it drapes over you in the most beautiful way. Once on an actual body this dress truly comes to life and it is magnificent. Hand finished edges and hand work throughout. It has attached number tags on both the belts and on the interior of the dress but no other labels. If you are a fan of these pieces from the thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition.
Unlined and slips over the head with its original belt to add shape through the waist. Hand finishes throughout. Small, light handmade padding in each shoulder. For a garment 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

This pretty little dress is made from a bias cut silk that has a slight crepe texture running through the fabric. The bias cut makes it drape and move unbelievably beautifully once on the body. The pattern is a pretty floral print that combines soft pinks, cornflower blue and a deeper navy. It's cut loose and easy through the bodice with a pretty scooped neckline. The waist is seamed but cut to be more loose and open. It has two attached wide blue silk ribbons at the front that you can wrap around and tie into a bow at the back. I love how these are set along the edge of the front panel so you get that pretty V dropped effect between the length of ribbon. You can tie the ribbons loose for a fuller cut through the waist or really cinch them in to add shape. The skirt falls from there and it widens out quite a bit as it nears the hem. The lightness of the fabric combined with the bias cut give the skirt incredible movement once on. It will move and flow around you with your slightest movement. The back is in an open V with the two sides crossing over each other at the base of the V. I think if very brave you might be able to wear this the other way around and have the V at the front. The arms fall slightly off the shoulder for a soft effect and each opening has this incredible ruffled finish to them. A panel of the same silk runs all the way around your arms and has the perfect romantic finish. It's an incredible and pretty dress. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips over the head to wear. Hand finished throughout. For a dress almost 100 years old it's in remarkable condition. This one is at its original shop label present was made in France. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This a spectacular piece from this time period. It is really just incredible and it is now so rare and hard to find these in such amazing condition. When you are standing still the skirt falls in more of a column but when you move you see just how much volume is there. The upper bodice is incredibly beautiful. It is cut with all those pretty angled seams that you expect from a dress from this time. The front neckline drapes softly in a scoop at the front and then there is an attached capelet that falls over your arms and then drapes down to the middle of the back. Hidden under that caped part at the back is an open V that leaves your back exposed and bare. This gives an incredibly soft and romantic feel. The dress is made out of a silk chiffon that is as light as a feather. It has a touch of transparency to it and this gives the pattern a beautiful and light feel that is stunning. Tulips are mixed with roses and the print is done in a soft pink and purple palette with green leaves. It is completely cut on the bias. To wear it, you just slip it on and it drapes over you in the most beautiful way. Once on an actual body this dress truly comes to life and it is magnificent. This is one of those absolutely beautiful silky rayon dresses that you can only find from this time period. It is in fantastic shape and is gorgeous to see in person. The top portion of the dress is made from a beautiful scarf weight silky rayon that tops a black silk crepe skirt. It has a classic late 1930s cut through the top with a more loose fitting bodice and softly draped sleeves. The neck dips into a V at the front and there is a notched soft collar that runs around that. The top is cut to skim over the bust and then narrows into the waist where a band of the black crepe gives shape. The skirt falls to below the knee and has a wonderful flare to it. It is quite wide as it swoops out and nears the hem and this gives it a lovely movement once on the body. The sleeves are long and pouf out above their cuffs. Rounded padding sits at the edge of each shoulder to give it a bit of a cap. The top is so pretty with its bright printed floral pattern that combine pinks, greens and purples. The fabric is cut on the bias and this gives the skirt beautiful movement once it is on. It is gorgeous. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with a side painted metal zipper. Each cuff closes with a hidden set of snaps. Light padding at the edge of each shoulder.

This is a stunningly beautiful silk velvet dress. It is really just incredible and it is now so rare and hard to find these in such amazing condition. The dress is cut in that loose and easy way that pieces from this time period were done in. It is meant to skim over the bust, waist and hips and then the matching jacket can be worm over it or separately. The upper bodice is sleeveless and is made from a black silk satin. It has a little bib panel at the front that has glossy black buttons running down its center. There is a row of functional buttons hidden behind it and I almost suspect that this panel was added at a later date and the dress was originally meant to be worn the other way around. it is so well cut that you could wear it either way. The skirt below that flares out with quite a bit of fabric in it as it nears the hem. The fabric is the most beautiful cut velvet with an art deco pattern. I love how you can see through the fabric in between the velvet parts. It is incredibly beautiful to see this play on transparency. It comes with a matching crop jacket that goes just to where the top inserts into the skirt of the dress. It closes down the front with hidden set snaps. It has no collar and it is cut loose and easy through the body. The sleeves are the final perfect touch. Each is cut to widen out dramatically and they have a good little flare at their ends. The jacket is entirely made of the cut silk velvet and it is not lined so again you get that incredible play on transparency and glimpse of skin through the fabric. Once on an actual body this dress truly comes to life and it is just gorgeous. Excellent condition.
The jacket and skirt are unlined and the fabric of the bodice is opaque. The dress slips on to wear. The buttons behind the front panel are functional but you probably wouldn't use them. The jacket closes with hidden set snaps down the front. It is meant to be loose and easy on the body.

This pretty little dress is made from a bias cut silk that has a slight starched feel to the fabric. This lets it hold its shape. The bias cut makes it drape and move unbelievably beautifully once on the body. The pattern is a pretty pale yellow floral print on a deep green backdrop with lighter green thatching worked through the pattern that gives it the look of being painted onto the silk. It's cut loose and easy through the bodice with this pretty angled seam that sits just under the bust. The waist is cut to be more loose and open and it has its original belt with a fabulous early acrylic buckle. This lets you add shape through the waist for a more defined silhouette. The skirt falls from there and it flares out all the way around the hem. The lightness of the fabric combined with the bias cut give the skirt incredible movement once on. It will move and flow around you with your slightest movement. Highlighting the neckline is this incredible pleated ruffled finish made from a soft yellow, starched silk organza. It's an incredible and pretty dress. Excellent condition with a minor note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear. Hand finishes throughout. There is a tiny bit of a mark on the edges of the collar and the top decorative part of the buckle is missing on one side. Please see the last two photos. For a dress almost 100 years old it's in remarkable condition. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

The dress slips over the head to wear and has an opening at the neck that does up with a series of silver glitter buttons. This is then topped by a dramatic and oversized pointed collar. I Think that you could actually wear this dress either way around and I wasn't 100% sure which way it was meant so I have photoed it both ways. Wearing the buttons to the front gives you a little bit of glitzy detail there and if you wear them to the back you get a more covered feel to the dress. The final touch on this one are the incredible sleeves. They are cut extremely wide and sit just off the shoulders. The velvet is top stitched all the way around to give them a touch of stiffening so that they hold that stunning wide shape you see. It's insanely beautiful and I love it. If you are a fan of these pieces from the late twenties / early thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition with a small note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear with buttons at the neck as described above. All the inner seams are finished by hand. I see a small repair on a tiny spot near the hem and some reinforcement on some seams here and there. These are extremely minor and mentioned for accuracy only. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This is one of a dozen dresses from a single owner collection of beautiful 1930s dresses and I am very pleased to have this small capsule for you. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. This is the most flawed of the dozen dresses I have for this capsule today. It's such an unusual and beautiful dress that I've decided to offer it as-is in the hopes that someone can wear it as it is or be able to fix it. It's a beautiful dress and the fabrics are stunning. The main fabric of the dress is a bias cut silk that has this deep brown burgundy colour to it. This then has stripes that feel like a chenille fused directly onto the silk. The stripes and where they meet at the seams help to form a pattern over the dress and add detail. It is completely cut on the bias. This is another of the dresses that I think you could wear either way around and I shot it both ways. One side has a deeper drape than the other and it works equally well depending whether you wear that to the back or the front to give you two different looks. The sleeves are incredible. They are these huge round balloon sleeves made out of a pale golden metallic lame silk. The very ends of each one is made from the same fabric as the body of the dress. Underneath the sleeves there is damage and the lame has shattered in places. The dress is too beautiful to just dispose of and I've put it at such a low price that I'm hoping someone can love it and perhaps just add reinforcements to the places that have shattered and be able to wear it still. Other than the shattered areas under the arms the rest the dress is still in great overall condition with some small notes below.
Unlined and slips on to wear with buttons at the neck as described above. All the inner seams are finished by hand. I see a small repair on the top of each shoulder and some minor fading at the very top of the shoulders. Under one of them the silk has shattered in a couple of areas but it's stable around those areas. There's slight discolouration under both arms. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This beautiful dress is a joy to see. It is made entirely of a black silk velvet that is light and has incredible movement and softness. The style of the dress is incredibly simple but stunning once on. To wear it you simply slip into it and then hook it inside the waist and snap in into place on the outer waist. It overlaps enough that it feels secure to wear but it still gives you a mile of leg that shows when you walk or sit and a pretty plunge at the front. This one has its original belt that helps to hold it in place. The belt alone is incredible. It is made of a black silk velvet that has stiffened inserts around the back to hold the shape. The buckle is a bronze coloured metal and onto the buckle are red, blue and white beads with touches of gold paint for a splash of colour on the black. The sleeves are stunning. They're gathered all along their outer edges and inside they are lined in a pale blush silk satin. There's also a partial lining of the same silk satin around the collar and these give you just a glimpse of this added color when you move. The dress is completely bias cut and drapes over the bust, skims over your hips and falls to the floor in a beautiful expanse of silk velvet. The skirt is cut longer in the back than the front and there is slit that runs up one side. It is simply a beautiful dress. Excellent condition with a minor note below.
Unlined and cut on the bias. It's long to wear and hooks into place as described above. I see a repair with invisible tape near the edge of the slit and there are some small areas of thinning along the hem and teeny areas that you can only see when you hold it to the light. This is common with silk velvets of this age and the fabric is strong and sturdy. There is so much fabric in the dress that you would never notice these once on. It otherwise looks to have been worn very little. The waist could be adjusted by moving the snaps and hook.

I Have a Question
This is one of a dozen dresses from a single owner collection of beautiful 1930s dresses and I am very pleased to have this small capsule for you. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. This is just a tiny sampling of her overall collection and I hope to have another series of these capsules in the future. Enjoy this first drop.
This is a stunning dress made of an early hammered silk satin that is completely cut on the bias. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production. It has this subtle texture to it and is absolutely incredible to see in person. This would make an amazing dress for a bride looking for an alternative to a modern wedding dress. It would of course also work for any event. The dress has no closures, it just simply slips over the head and drapes into place. The silk immediately will mold to your curves as it drapes and skims down the body from bust to hips. As it nears the hem it flares out beautifully. I love that the light colour really lets you see the extraordinary and intricate seaming that the dress has through the body. The front dips into a V and the back has subtle gatherings. This one also comes with a light and easy jacket with caped sleeves and that is made of the same silk as the dress. You can wear it over the dress with the front extensions hanging softly or tie them in a soft knot at the front. It also comes with its original belt that has a pretty silver metal buckle. The feel of the dress changes dramatically whether you wear it on its own with just the jacket, just the belt, or with all three pieces combined. I love that because it just gives you more options on how you're able to wear it. This one is an absolute beauty. Excellent overall condition with a small note below.
Unlined and slips on to wear and cut on the bias. All the inner seams are finished by hand. I see a small repair on the back of the waist that is covered where the belt is on. The belt has a slight feel of grubbiness compared to the other two pieces and some of the rhinestones are missing off of the buckle. There is very minor darkening under the arm seams. Please see the last four photos here. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This is a stunning silk tulle net dress in a beautiful ivory with pale ivory and purple embroidery. The dress comes with its original under dress. The under dress is made from a silk satin in an ivory and the lower edge of it is finished with a cotton tulle and lace detailing. This helps add to the look of the dress when the outer dress is layered over it and also helps to keep the volume at the hem of the dress. This inner slip is opaque enough so the dress becomes wearable. It is suspended from two straps that curve over the shoulders and zip to close at the back. Over this goes the silk tulle outer layer. The outer dress has a very simple shape. The sleeves are short and extend out from the shoulders with no seam to break the eye. It is meant to skim over you through the body to the waist. It is finished with a light banding of cotton for a bit of structure and the skirt falls under that. Down the center of the dress the tulle is left plain while on either side of the bust it has been elaborately embroidered in a cream and pale purple thread. The same pattern is picked up again on the skirt. I love how the edges are scalloped to follow the pattern. It's such a pretty and romantic piece. Excellent condition with a small note below.
The slip acts as the lining. It closes with a zipper at the back. The outer dress closes with hook and eye and snaps at the back. The inner dress has some scuffing on the silk satin but it does not affect it when on. The outer dress has a small mark on the skirt. There's a bit of grubbiness near where it closes at the back. The hooks at the waist have been moved out two inches and could be moved back if you needed the outer dress to be smaller. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition.

The fabric on this is similar in texture and feel to the moss crepe that you saw in the 1970s. It is gorgeous in person. It is also surprisingly long for a piece from this time period. The dress is meant to be on an actual body and my dress form is not doing it anywhere near the justice it deserves. The dress falls in a V at the front and the bodice is cut in that loose and easy way over the bust that pieces from this time period were done in. The waist nips in and there is an elaborate hand beaded panel to suggest a wide belt that runs all the way around the waist. The bead work combined tiny white seed beads, clear glass beads and silver tube beads, all applied one by one by hand. It's quite incredible. The skirt falls to the floor under that and is made from several yards of the ivory crepe. When you stand still it falls in a smooth column but when you move you see just how much volume is there. It slips on to wear and then it snaps into place with a small opening that runs down the center of the back. The sleeves are long and have four fabric covered buttons at the cuff. Each shoulder has rounded padding to give it that perfect strong shoulder of the era. It is truly gorgeous and if you are a fan of these pieces from the late twenties and into the thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition with one small note below.
Unlined and closes at the back with hook and eye. Hand finished throughout. Padding in each shoulder. It is in wonderful condition and appears to heave been worn very little. The tiniest bit of grubbiness at the seam under the arms. For a garment almost 100 years old it is truly amazing.

This is a phenomenal dress from this time period. It is made out of a scarf weight, bias cut silk that has a graphic floral print. The floral print runs over a black base and combines an off-white/pale grey colour with a brilliant coral. There is also a tiny pale gold outline that follows the inner part of the floral pattern. This added bit of colour gives a little extra bit of dimension to the print. The combination is striking. The silk is feather light and completely cut on the bias. The front is cut into a halter and the fabric is gathered up and into the scooped neckline. The waist is seamed and detailed with an attached sash made of the same silk. The back is stunning. The straps from the front fall down the sides and leave the back bare between. The sash ends in a bow and there is ruching above and below to gather the dress in and add detail. Under that, the skirt falls to the floor and widens out as it gets to the hem at the front. The ruching at the lower back adds extra fabric so you get more volume there. The skirt slightly extends past the hem at the back for a touch of a trained effect. It is gorgeous. Excellent overall condition with a minor note below.
Unlined and closes at the back to the side with hook & eye and snaps. There are light marks under both arms bit the print hides them. A tiny bit of thinning to the fabric on one side but it seems strong and stable and held up to cleaning. It has been reinforced with invisible tape.

The fabric on this dress is a an early and original moss crepe that most people now associate with the 1970s. It is incredible to see this early example of it. The dress is gorgeous in person. It is also surprisingly avant garde in its design for a piece from this time period. The dress falls in a V at the front with a little inset of silk chiffon to act as a modesty panel to the deeper plunge. The bodice is sleeveless and the straps curve up and stay close to the neck. They are twisted for detailing. It skims over the breast and meets an elaborate hand beaded panel there. The bead work combines tiny black glass tube beads with blue tinged large sequins. They are all applied one by one by hand. It's quite incredible. The skirt falls to the floor under that and is made from several yards of the crepe. It is extensively draped down both sides and these draped panels fall from a smooth center panel on both the back and the front. When you stand still it falls in a smoother column but when you move you see just how much volume is there. The back just makes it even better. It has a racer back created from that middle panel. It is truly gorgeous and if you are a fan of these pieces from the late twenties and into the thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. This one will be better in person as the shape needs a body to really bring it to life. Excellent condition with a minor note below.
Unlined and slips on with no closures. Hand finished throughout. Three sequins are missing on the front design. It is in wonderful condition and appears to heave been worn very little. For a garment almost 100 years old it is truly amazing. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This pretty little dress is made from a feather light bias cut silk that has the slightest bit of texture running through the fabric. The bias cut makes it drape and move unbelievably beautifully once on the body. The pattern is a black and white floral print and some of the white flowers have a more ivory detailing that gives the look of being painted onto the silk. It's cut loose and easy through the bodice with this pretty round curving seam that sits just under the bust. The waist is seamed but cut to be more loose and open. You could add a belt or ribbon for more definition if you wanted a more defined silhouette. The skirt falls from there and it widens out quite a bit as it nears the hem. The lightness of the fabric combined with the bias cut give the skirt incredible movement once on. It will move and flow around you with your slightest movement. The back dips low for a bare expanse of skin and it closes with a series of silk covered buttons. The straps have this incredible ruffled finish to them with round cut outs of the silk hand applied on top of each other to cover the straps. Each little bit of silk is finished around the edge by hand. It's an incredible and pretty dress. Excellent condition with a minor note below.
Unlined and closes down the back with a series of silk covered buttons and loops. Hand finished throughout with pinked inner seams. There is perhaps a slight darkening to the white under the arms but it just looks more in line with the deeper ivory parts of the pattern. I'm being pretty picky. For a dress almost 100 years old it's in remarkable condition. This one is at its original shop label present was made in France. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

There is an insert of silk mesh that goes all the way around the front and back so you get a glimpse of bare skin all the way around. Above that is a gathered collar that extends out on each side across the top of the shoulders. Below where the mesh is inserted into the dress, it is done in a soft curving jagged pattern from the body of the dress. Running across the mesh is a beautiful trailing applique design made of silk velvet. It is all hand applied. The sleeves are the final perfect touch. Each is cut to widen out dramatically and they are a full 38" around by the time they reach their bottom hem. Once on an actual body this dress truly comes to life and it is magnificent. If you are a fan of these pieces from the thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a series of snaps at the side. One side on the neckline snaps to close. I think If you wanted you could leave those snaps open and wear this very low on the shoulder. Hand finished throughout. I see one repair near the hem that only shows from the inside. For a garment 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

This is magnificent dress. It is one long sheath dress that falls to the floor in a smooth column. That minimalist column is offset by the multiple rows of hand applied fringes that cover of the dress from head to toe. These fringes give the dress incredible movement. Your slightest movement causes them to explode all around you. The dress is in remarkable condition and appears to have been worn very little if at all. It's truly a stand out. The base is a black silk and it falls from the shoulders in a smooth line that widens out gradually as it nears the hem. It skims over the bust, waist, and hips. The neckline is set wide across and the shoulders and extends out a touch to create a slight cap. The fringes on the bust are set at 2.5" lengths and the ones below that skirt are 4". Above each row there is a bit of an embroidered pattern where the fridge is attached inside. Around the waist it is completely embroidered with a black silk fine cording. At first glance it looks like the material has been gathered there, in the manner that they did ruching in the 1930s, but it's actually embroidered thread. It is just fantastic and I love it. Excellent condition with a minor note below.
Unlined and closes at the side with a series of hook and eye. The back of the neck has a hook and eye. If appears to have been worn very little if at all. For a dress almost 100 years old it is in remarkable condition.

This dress is absolutely drop dead stunning. It is made out of a black crepe and is completely cut on the bias. Once on it drapes and molds to the body in a way that is absolutely fantastic. My photos do not come close to doing it justice. The upper bodice has incredible volume. There is an angled seam that sits under the bust and the fabric gathers slightly along that seam. The sleeves come directly out from the base of that seam and they are extremely wide at the upper shoulder and then narrow down to fit the arm to the wrist. There is this rounded drop of fabric that is then gathers into the seam that separates the two parts of the sleeve. The lower sleeve is shaped to the arm and there is a small gathering at the elbow so it can bend. The sleeves end in little pointed angles and they snap to close. Under the bodice it skims over the waist and hips and then flares out as it nears the hem. The bias cut molds the dress to the body and makes it incredibly comfortable to wear. The neckline is high and slightly draped out from the neck. It is detailed with gold sequins hand sewn into place. A decorative row of gold toned metal buttons runs down the back. It is incredible. Excellent condition with a minor note below.
Unlined and closes with a series of snaps at the side and at the back of the neck. Hidden set snaps on each cuff. Hand finished throughout and the sequins are hand applied. Some of the gold sequins are missing but could be replaced or worn as is. The bias cit should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

I Have a Question
This is a spectacular dress from the late 1930s or early 1940s. It has no label and it is just one of those things that you will only ever find in the vintage world. It is the type of dress that literally makes you happy and puts a smile on your face the moment you see it. The dress is made from a beautiful vintage cotton that has a slight textured feel to to it. This fabric choice keeps the dress light and easy to wear while still holding the lines and volume of the dress. A stunning striped red and white pattern covers the entire dress. This contrasting to colours combined with the stripes gives it an amazing impact when you see it. Added to that is the way that the skirt's volume has been created by triangle shaped panels that are set all the way around the dress. You can see the care that was put into dresses from this time period when you realize that every stripe matches with its neighbor whenever possible. The dress is strapless and the bodice is fitted with internal boning built in for structure and to hold the dress in place around you. The bust is shaped and the bodice is cut to curve around you and then it nips in at the waist. Did you see is all created with vertical seaming so there is no horizontal waist seam to break the pattern. You could easily add a belt or tie to really emphasize the waist too if you wished. The skirt is fantastic. I photoed it without anything underneath so you can see how it falls on its own and then for the majority of the shots I photoed it with a long crinoline underneath so you can get an idea of the volume and the way the pattern sets. If you were to lay it out on the floor this would be a full circle skirt if not more. The skirt is cut on a curve and is slightly longer then the sides so you get a beautiful line. It is a gorgeous dress and such a rarity to find such a spectacular sample from this time period anymore and in this condition. Excellent condition with a small note to review below
The dress is unlined and closes with a side set metal zipper. Built in boning through the bodice. There is some slight yellowing to some of the white areas on and around the hem. I photoed one of them so you can see. There's a tiny area of discoloration at the top of the edge of the bodice and minor yellowing here and there on the interior. Please see the final two photos here. With the amount of fabric in the dress you would never notice this once it's on. Given that the dress is almost 100 years old at this point I would easily still rate it as excellent condition. It is an amazing dress.

I Have a Question
This is a beyond gorgeous dress whose fabric is phenomenal. It is not labeled but it is obviously a well made piece. It's also one of the prettiest dresses from this time period that I have ever seen. The dress has a simple but very beautiful cut. The bodice is slit down the front with a little strap holding the opening in place. The strap is a part of the edge of the piping that runs along the neckline. This allows the neckline to sit wide across the top for a bit of bare skin to show. At the back it is open and dips into a low V so that most of your back is left bare and exposed. It skims over your bust down to a cinched in waist that has an attached band of the same fabric that is connected all the way around to the back. The lower part of the dress falls from there to widen out as it reaches the hem. The skirt is made out of three separate attached tiers of fabric and each is wider then the one above. By the time it reaches the hem it is is a full circle of fabric if not more. This gives it incredible volume and movement around you as you move. It's one of the prettiest skirts I've ever seen. To finish off this ever so pretty dress each sleeve is also cut in a full circle of fabric around the opening for the arm and this gives them the prettiest caped feel. And again on the sleeves you get incredible movement when you move. The fabric is just beautiful. It is a woven cotton feeling fabric that has fused applique work over the entire surface. Between the applique work you get a touch of transparency but the volume of fabric keep it from being to risque and the bodice is a double layer of the fabric. It is really is just an amazing piece. This is the type of dress you will only ever find in vintage. Excellent condition
The bodice is two layers of the fabric and the rest of the dress is unlined. It closes with hook and eye at the back of the waist. There is one tiny area of darkening to the fabric on the waist band near the side. Otherwise it looks like it was worm very little if at all. Please see the final photo

I Have a Question
This is one of those fantastic things that you'll only find in the vintage world. It is a very unusual piece that has no label but has been immaculately made and is quite fabulous. The piece is completely made by hand using knotting and macramé techniques. The rope that is used has a subtle gold thread running through it which adds a gorgeous texture and just a touch of glimmer. This is mixed with silver metal beads that are used to anchor the knots at the neckline and waist and also add detail across the bodice. To wear it you just slip it on and then tie it at the neck and the waist at the back. The front is an intricate design that covers you like a fantastic and elaborate breast plate. More silver beads are used here to anchor the cross ropes and add detail and interest to the design. Under the waist the skirt falls in a long fringes. The fringes give it incredible movement when you move. It also has sleeves that are anchored to the neckline and then suspended across the shoulder by rope. Long fringes then fall from there to flow around your arm and past the hands and wrists. It is incredible. This is a piece that you would wear over something else and depending on how daring you want to be you could wear it with something absolutely minimal to look like you are completely bare underneath or layer it over a dress or pants. The possibilities to style this are endless limited only by your imagination. It's in immaculate condition and is one of the most unusual and fabulous pieces I have seen. I absolutely love it. Excellent condition
