I Have a Question
A patterned version of this coat was photographed for The Daily Telegraph Magazine in September 1973 and featured Jean Shrimpton and Barbara Miller. I am very pleased to have an all black version of it for the shop as it is exceptional. This coat is made even more interesting because the tag on it is from the short lived and very rare Maternity line that Biba did. These were made in the same fabric and styles as the regular line but with room added for a growing bump. It is extremely rare to find pieces with this label which makes this coat that much more fascinating
The coat is wonderful. It has those fabulous Art Deco lines that Barbara Hulanicki favoured. The extra room it has through the body just makes it even more fabulous to wear with or without a baby bump to go with it. It is made out of a light in weight ultra soft black faux fur. The pile of the fabric lays flat and close to the cloth and it has a swirly textured feel to it. The fabric is very soft and supple. The coat falls beautifully once on. The coat zips up the front to a high funnel neck. It is more fitted through the shoulders and then falls, swinging outwards with all of the volume created by the way the fabric has been cut and pieced together. The shoulders and sleeves are spectacular. Each shoulder is set with a high capped cut. This was something that Hulanicki became known for and pieces with this cut are among the most coveted. The sleeves are equally as fabulous. They are cut wide and full and get wider as they reach their ends. This is from the Big Biba store era and it is an exceptional piece of fashion history that is still so very wearable and chic. Excellent condition
Fully lined in black silk. It zippers to close at the front and has pockets on each side. Perhaps the lightest of matting to the inside collar. A teeny bit of wear here and there along the edges of the cuffs. If the arm opening will work it should fit a range of sizes.

I Have a Question
The Western world in the twenties to the sixties had a special fascination with the Far East and this highly influenced the fashion of that time period. Japan and China began to export and sell pieces made specifically for the tourist market that combined classic design elements of those respective cultures with a slight western twist to the cut and colours. You will often see embroidered versions of these come up for sale but these beaded and sequin pieces are a little harder to find. These were the most prized both then and now. This one is stunning and is probably from the early 1960s. It is made from a red silk satin and the red is a clear crisp red. Onto this fabric it is an extensive pattern depicting dragons and birds. The designs are a 3D raised pattern made from beads and sequins and are all hand applied to the jacket. All of the edges are also densely beaded and sequinned so that you get this brilliant metallic feel and incredible raised texture over the entire thing. It is lovely and light which makes it so easy to wear. It closes with a oversized front zipper done in a matching red. Excellent condition with a small note below.
Fully lined in red silky rayon and zippers to close at the front. Extremely slight change to colour on one shoulder - please see the last photo. There are some minor marks and a small repair on the inner lining where a label was at some point.

This one is stunning and is probably from the 1940s so is a little earlier then the other I have for you today. It is also far more elaborate a piece and the jacket is completely covered in beading and sequin work. The base of the jacket is made from a coral red silk satin. Onto this fabric it is an extensive pattern that covers the entire jacket. You can see both dragons and birds within the design. I Have a Question
This is perhaps one of the best 1940s tops I have ever had in the shop. It is made out of a black moss crepe and it was this exact kind of a piece that you can see where Ossie Clark would have gotten his inspiration from. It has the feel of one of his pieces but with those extraordinary hand embellishments added. It has a high neckline with an attached tie that extends out from either side of the neck. The top skims over the bust and it is heavily gathered across the shoulders. It buttons down the front with a tightly spaced row of hand covered buttons and hand made and placed fabric loops. The waist is brought in slightly and then it flares out a bit under that. The sleeves are amazing. They are huge and cut to pouf and balloon out over the wrist. Just the lines of the top are perfection on its own. And if that was not enough it was then embroidered and beaded and all of the detailing is done by hand. The band at the waist is entirely covered with a combination of raised embroidery, metal thread and beadwork done with the tiniest possible seed beads. Then on each sleeve there is a huge medallion of the same embroidery and bead work. The colours pop off the black beautifully and the fact that this was all done by hand is just amazing. It is truly a piece of history and a work of art. It is a superb example of this time period. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes down the front with a series of fabric covered buttons and fabric loops. Each sleeve ends in a gathered elastic cuff. It is in remarkable condition for its age. It is meant to fit generously. It might fit a large if you are narrow through the shoulders

azzedine alaia
Gorgeous Fall 2000 Azzedine Alaia Documented Flared Stretch Knit Floral Pattern Skirt
I Have a Question
Azzedine Alaia pieces are always a delight to find. His knits were all self developed and are among the best out there. He started his career as a dressmakers assistant and copied couture gown for wealthy Tunisian clients. In 1957 he moved to Paris and worked for Christian Dior for a grand total of five days. He then moved to Guy Laroche and quietly started to get private commissions on the side. By 1960 he was doing mainly private work and within a few years established a small salon on the Left Bank where he continued designing privately. He stayed at that salon until 1984. During this time period he also did private freelance work for other designers including Claude Montana, Thierry Mugler and even Yves Saint Laurent. It was not until 1981 that he launched his first official collection and by 1983 he had a boutique in Beverley Hills. The French Ministry of Culture honored him with the Designer of the Year award in 1985. In 1993 he decided that the established fashion show schedule was not for him and he eschewed producing a new collection every season. Instead he showed when his collections were ready and continued to do so until his death in 2017.
Alaia cut the pattern and assembled the prototype for every single piece that he created. He was one of the few designers that often worked on a live model and many give this as the credit for his incredibly flattering pieces. He hated undergarments and instead made his pieces work to shape the body on their own. He developed his own proprietary knits and they are this incredible combination of give and take. This skirt is from the Fall 2000 collection and was made in both a long and short length as well as two colour ways. Included here is an editorial shot of the more pink, long version of the skirt and it gives you an idea of its incredible fit. The upper part of the skirt hugs the hips to shape them and then the skirt flares out from there. I love the gored effect created by the knit opening into angled vertical seams. Inside each panel are flowers that trail down the full length of this part of the skirt. Each is woven directly into the knit and the colours are gorgeous and vibrant. Very easy to wear and a great piece of Alaia to add to any collection. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear. The fabric has stretch so should fit a range of sizes. The measurements below are the comfortable range of stretch when laying flat. It will probably stretch a little more on an actual body. Tagged a vintage Alaia XS

I Have a Question
This late 1940s topper is very chic and dramatic. Elmar Designs was a small millinery shop that operated out of New York from the 1940s to the 1960s. One of their hats is held in the Indianapolis Museum of Art's permanent collection and they seem to have centered primarily around making hats with veils. This example of their work is quite charming. The top portion is a flat disc that has deep charcoal grey and black feathers placed around an center midpoint. Detailing the midpoint is a little spay of feathers placed to hide the ends of the ones that extend out and around the head. Under this is a little silk net veil that dips down to just past the cheeks. There is a little black velvet bow that scoops the netting up at one side and you can really play with the placement of it to create different looks. It is very chic and film noir. Excellent condition
The veil is 27" around and about 8" deep from the crown.

I Have a Question
This jacket is dated to 2003 and showcases McQueens strong tailoring background and master cutting abilities. This is a a piece that would have been produced for retail and was not shown on the runway. Something that you see often with his work during this period as his popularity was skyrocketing and demand for his work was booming. The jacket is cut with a nod to a traditional men's tuxedo. I love that it has been made out of a beautiful ivory colour instead of a classic black. This gives it an unexpected bit of freshness and lightness to the very refined cut. The shoulder are sharp with just a tiny turn up at their peaks. Each sleeve is cut on a slight curve in the proper manner of tailoring a sleeve and each has a row of four buttons to finish them at their ends. The blazer is shaped with a female body in mind and is cut in at the waist for shape. A matching cream coloured silk satin lapel curves around the neckline and runs down to the waist. To close the jacket there is an attached pair of French cuff style buttons that you put through proper buttonholes on either side. Flap pockets sit on each hip and a there is a single breast pocket. The inside is lined in a cream silk satin that matches the lapel. The workmanship is meticulous and it is a beautiful jacket. Excellent condition

I Have a Question
We had a photo of a gold leather set from the spring 1982 Yves Saint Laurent show in our archive files and this skirt is very similar but finished in a silver instead of a gold. You can also see the similar buttons used on the gold set that looks to be a match to the button closes the waist on this skirt. This version looks to have been cut a little longer and is more of a true pencil shape. I love its flattering cut. This might just be the perfect silver leather skirt. It is very high quality and very well made. The leather is light in weight. It is just heavy enough to keep the shape but light enough that it is constructed as if it was made from fabric. The shape is a classic pencil and the vertical seaming helps to create a lean silhouette. The leather is coated with a soft brushed metallic silver that has just enough shine to add a touch of metallic to your wardrobe but not in a flashy or tacky way. It is exceptional and looks to have never been worn or worn very little. Excellent condition.

I Have a Question
The twin of this top in a green was shown as Look 10 for the Fall 2016 Rosie Assoulin show. This is its twin but has been done in a putty coloured ivory. The top is brand new and has never been worn. It still has its original Rosie Assoulin tags and tags from Lane Crawford attached.
These tops were a hit piece from the collection and with its convertible aspect, highlights the cleverness of Rosie's work. This ability to transform the top so easily makes it easy to style in multiple ways. You can wear it out for the evening with heels or keep it more low key for the day. It also showcases her love of creating new proportions and cuts. The neckline of the top is cut on an angle that leaves one shoulder bare whether you choose too wear the sleeve or not. One shoulder is covered and the other one has the sleeve hanging low on the arm. You can also choose to unbutton the low hanging sleeve and take it off completely to convert the top to a single sleeved piece. Each sleeve is cut with volume through its middle and is cut on a curve so that they follow the arm and create a wider pouf near their middle. The fit through the body is relaxed and it buttons up one side. There are attached ties that you can wrap around you to add shape where you want it to be. I love it. Brand new and never worn. Excellent condition
It is constructed from a soft canvas finish cotton twill. It buttons down the side and has attached ties. The one sleeve buttons into place. Tagged a modern brand size M but the cut is very generous so it should fit a variety of sizes.

I have a small group of hand made tops straight from the swinging sixties ad they are all incredible. Each is a one of a kind and completely unique. This is the type of thing that you will only ever find with vintage so if you love one - snag it fast because you will never see it again. This one combines a natural cotton yarn done with pink and gold thread. The sleeves are elaborately done with big lilies crocheted around the open fishnet pattern. On the front a large pink flower sits at the centre of the low dipping V. A band runs across the bust above that to hold it in place. Lots of different crochet patterns have been mixed together and it is so unique
Unlined and slips on to wear. A little stretch to the knit. It is handmade so you can see the threads tied off at the back. Some repairs to the strands in the sleeve and there is a darkening to the bottom of the front where the cups are set. Some darkening to the yarn here and there. The areas that cover the breasts are backed in a nude stretch lingerie nylon. These were all worn and loved so have a touch of normal patina to them but all are in great condition

giorgio sant angelo
1970s Giorgio Sant Angelo Hand Painted Stretch Blue Net Bodysuit w Gold & Silver Accents
I Have a Question
Sant' Angelo was the winner of two Coty Awards and two Council of Fashion Designers of America honors and was known for his innovation and pioneering use of stretch fabrics. He has had an entire museum exhibit dedicated to his work and career and is firmly entrenched as one of the great designers. His work captured a moment in fashion history and his love of color and strong lines will forever be collectible. Pieces reside in museums worldwide.
This is an amazing and rare body suit that has been hand painted on a pale blue netting. The interior of the suit is a stretch nude coloured jersey so that when you put it on it stretches and conforms to your body in the most comfortable of ways. The sleeves are long and slim and the front is scooped. It does up by snapping into place at the lower gusset. The pattern that you see has two componensts to it. There is the washed water-colour effect that runs on curving swoops over the surface of the body suit. These are done in pastel green, pink and blue. It is extraordinarily well done and it feels like you are looking at a painting that has been applied directly to the fabric. Then to highlight the design are little hand painted dots of gold and silver paint. You can actually feel these on top of the fabric. It is very beautiful and can be worn with many different pieces. Excellent condition.
Fully lines in a stretch nude nylon and snaps into place at the gusset once you slip it on. The fabric has some stretch

adolfo
Extraordinary 1970s Adolfo Ivory Felt Wrap Skirt w Gold Filigree Studs & 3D Flower Detailing
I Have a Question
This is a beautiful and intricate skirt by Adolfo. Adolfo started his career under Balenciaga and like Halston, was a successful milliner before opening his own fashion house. He became know for his Chanel inspired suiting and beaded pieces. Adolfo often did custom work for his clients who ranged from the Duchess of Windsor, to Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Gloria Vanderbilt and Nancy Reagan. He even won a Coty Award in 1969. I love his work and am very pleased to have this exceptional skirt in the shop today. It is wonderful example of just how complex his work could get. The skirt is made out of a beautiful ivory coloured felt that is thick enough to hold the shape that you see. This fabric choice also gives it the structure to hold the extensive appliqué work that has been added to it. At the waist there is a wide angled band of black felt that contrasts with the ivory. This angles down to one side when the skirt is on and it has been covered with a combination of big round gold coloured medallions with filigree finishes mixed with large gold studs. He then added a scattering of little black beads over the entire ivory part of the skirt and mixed in cut out flowers. The flowers have been hand cut out of the black felt. Each flower has a round felt centre in the ivory and then a gold stud is applied at its centre to hold it into place. A tightly spaced row of the flowers circle the hem and run op the edge of the skirt that wraps over at the front. All of the appliqué work is done by hand and it is extraordinary. It looks to have never been worn or worn very little. Excellent condition.
Unlined and wraps to close with hooks along the waist. You could easily move the hooks to go up or down in size a bit if needed.

These are a super cute pair of vintage sunglasses that are not from any particular brand but have lots of style and impact. They are made out of a deep red plastic frame shaped into two large hearts. The lenses have a mirrored finish that graduates to a bit clearer lens as it works its way towards the lower points of the hearts. I see one teeny scuff on one lens otherwise they are perfect.

I Have a Question
This is a gorgeous top that was made in Mexico and the textile it is made from probably dates to the sixties or seventies. The cut is loose and easy with a wide cut neckline and a simple T shape through the body. The fit through the body is very wide and open. There are two attached ties made from the same embroidered fabric that you can tie to give the top more shape. I have tied it at the back so you really get a sense of the work on the front of the piece, but you could just as easily tie it at the front. The entire top has been hand embroidered. The main pattern is a stunning array of colours in an intricate design. Then over that is a secondary design that combines beautiful bright flowers and birds with just a subtle pop of silver thread worked in here and there. The bird and floral pattern curves around the neckline and runs over each shoulder. There is a wide band of the design that runs across both the front and back of the upper chest. More of the design is set at the bottom centre of the hem on both sides. It is extraordinary and one of those little magical things that you only find in vintage. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on the wear. There is a hook at the top of the notched neck that has been added. The loose cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes and the smaller you are the more it will feel like an oversize cut piece when on.

This is a super cute red plaid check Vivienne Westwood top. It no longer has its label inside but it does have her custom engraved buttons that clearly identifies it as her work. I love the lines on this one. It has her signature nod to the past but it still feels cutting edge and completely modern. The front does up with the buttons and they are offset and follow the way that she has wrapped the shirt around the body. The collar is pointed and neat. You can wear the top more open or do it right up to under the collar. The sleeves are cut with a long slim feel and the body is shaped and slightly fitted through the waist. Excellent condition.
Unlined and buttons to close. No inner tags but all of the buttons are engraved with her logo

I Have a Question
This was purchased in Laos and my client was told that it was from the late 1800s, early 1900s. It is an incredible antique textile and the workmanship on it is fantastic. I have taken numerous photos and included many of the blue underside as I think that it is as beautiful as the embroidered top layer. At some pinto someone has added snaps to keep it closed. It also looks like it was folded and stitched at some point in its history to give it that interesting shape. Both these tweaks allow it to follow a more modern neckline better. This could all be undone if you wished. The colours are incredible. They are a bright combination of corals, pinks and blues. You can see all of the hand work that has been done on the back side of the piece. It is sold as found and truly a thing of beauty. This is one of those little treasures you only find in vintage. Excellent condition with some grubbiness to the fabric and small marls on the back. It was not cleaned because of its age bit it sound and strong.
5.5" wide and with a 15" neck opening as it is where the snaps are placed now. You could easily change them to accommodate any size

I Have a Question
Rene Lewis is a NYC diamond jewelry designer who uses antique materials worked into modern pieces. In the late 1980s and early 1990s she did a limited clothing line that reworked vintage pieces into contemporary shapes and silhouettes. This is one of those pieces and the fabric would have originated from the 1940s. She tweaked the shape perhaps or maybe this was originally a damaged dress that she converted into a top. It is made out of a black crepe that has a wonderful metallic thread embroidered detail at the neckline. The cut of the top is simple and sleek, with a straight cut through the body with just a hint of shape at the waist. At the neck, the embroidery work is exceptional. Gold metal thread is curved and stitched into place for the intricate design that you see. A black and gold band also loops around each arm. Antique buttons run down the back to close the top. You can easily see that it is completely done by hand on the opposite side of the fabric. Excellent vintage condition with a note below
Unlined and slips on. It buttons down the back. The embroidery work is hand done. Normal wear and patina to some of the gold from aging. All of the buttons at the back have some small chips out of them. I have photoed the one with the most of them

I Have a Question
This is a stunning 1940s black crepe top that is a little unusual because it has long sleeves. The vast majority of tops you find from this time period are short sleeves because they were meant to be worn under a jacket. This one is made out of a black silk crepe and has a wonderful metallic and non-metallic thread embroidered detailing that is quite extensive. The cut of the top is simple and sleek, with a straight cut through the body with just a hint of shape at the waist. The sleeves are long and end in a snapped cuff. The embroidery work is exceptional and you can clearly see the hand work on the back of the fabric. The pattern is done with a combination of a muted gold metal thread mixed with non metallic natural coloured thread and then little pops of green and red. The design is done in a bib feeling design down the front. It then runs over each shoulder and down each sleeve. At the back the embroidery works its way around the keyhole. The embroidery work is quite dense in coverage and it pops off of the black. It is wonderful. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on. There is a button at the back of the neck above a keyhole opening. The embroidery work is all hand done. Each cuff snaps to close

I Have a Question
This is a wonderful 1940s top that has a subtle little play in its design. It is made out of a deep blue silk that is the weight of a heavier silk scarf. The cut is loose and easy with no true shoulder seams. It simple drapes over you and then is brought in a bit at the waist for shaping. Onto the front are a stacked row of white insets. There are two of these on either side of the bodice. These angle down across the top of the bust and extend all the way out to the ends of the sleeves. I added one photo with one side held out so that you can see how it goes across the entire top. These are stitched into place all around their edges but they are stitched so that there is a 1/4" gap between the white and the blue silk. So when it is one you see that little line of bare skin all around. Very sexy in the most subtle kind of way. Excellent condition
Unlined and slip on to wear and then buttons down the back. The buttons are hand covered in the same silk as the top. I see the tiniest little nick on the fabric as the front that is stable.

I Have a Question
This is a stunning full length silk evening or opera coat done in a creamy ivory colour. The cut and design have a simple and stark feel to them yet the curves that the coat has soften that starkness. The color is a statement in and of itself. The interior is lined in a matching ivory silk and this monochromatic approach is stunning as it does not break the long line that is created. The shoulders are rounded but without any inner padding so that they simply curve down and over the arms. The sleeves are cut to just above the elbows which was the very fashionable length to have during this time period. It is cut to skim and float over the body and then sweeps to the hem in a beautiful column of ivory silk. It is full and loose through the body. It snaps to close at the front with silk covered snaps hidden under the front where the fabric crosses over the other side. The collar is very unusual in the way that it is set on the neckline of the coat. It is set a few inches away from the actual neck and is stitched into place so that it stands straight up. It has wired bits inside to help it to hold that shape and frame the face. The collar was then embellished with a dense application of silver toned tube beads mixed with seed beads and prong set rhinestones. Excellent overall condition with a small note below
Fully lined in an ivory silk and closes with hidden set snaps at the front. There are hooks to close the collar. Pockets along the seam of each hip. There are some missing beads on the collar as photoed and I see an areas where the silk has yellowed on one side. There is a tiny bit of fraying to the back inside collar. Please see the photos after the label shot and the label shot itself for the collar. The colour is a slightly creamier then how it photoed and even better in person.

I Have a Question
Linda Rossbach did a luxe line of sweaters in the 1980s. She would hand knit each sample herself until she had it exactly as she liked it and then they were produced and knit by hand in small editions by a group of 38 women she had hand picked. In a 1985 write up on her work in the LA Times, the article noted; "One leaf, on a sweater covered with jonquils, took four hours to crochet, making it the most expensive sweater in the line at $3,400. Prices start at $1,800. The sweaters, made of double- and triple-strand silk, mohair and Angora yarns, are always constructed in the same basic silhouette. The idea is to wear the sweaters at night, perhaps instead of a fur in cool weather. Rossbach likes to see them worn with pajama pants, because, she says: “I’m a person who loves pants. They make me look tall.”
This example of her work is gorgeous. It is made out of a silk and mohair mix as noted above and the result is a super soft sweater that has a bit of volume. The colour in person is bit more of a pastel version of what you see in the photo. It is almost a cream taupe with a touch of pink. The camera came close to capturing it but it is even better in person. The edges are all finished in an angora that is a creamy ivory colour. The body of the sweater is easy and loose and each sleeve poufs out at the top and then narrows down at the wrist. I love the knotted detailing around each sleeve. The entire sweater is shot through with a silver yarn that gives it a touch of high glamour. It is fabulous and entirely made by hand. Excellent condition
Unlined and has no closures. It just slips on to wear. Entirely hand knit and appears to have never been worn.

I Have a Question
Odette Barsa was a lingerie designer who was very successful. She was born in Syria in 1901 and came to America where she married Simon Barsa in 1922. Her husband had a successful business but it got into trouble after the 1929 stock market crash so she started making lingerie. She imported her fabric and embroideries and made high end lingerie up until her death in 1975.
This is a wonderful cropped feather coat that is quite fabulous. The color of the feathers is a pale and pretty soft pink. It has no closures and the sleeves are pretty little capped sleeves. I love the short cropped cut to it and the way the front curves up to the neckline. The choice of the soft down feathers gives it a pillow soft feel and makes it very romantic and feminine. It has that bit of a current Saint Laurent flare to it and the length means it can top just above anything. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a matching soft pink rayon and slips on to wear. Tagged a MED. The easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

I Have a Question
This wonderful little cardigan is a true find. It is in fantastic shape and in fact looks to have been worn very little if at all. It has the most beautiful detailing and in person it is far better then how it photoed. The colour is gorgeous. It is a soft pale ice blue that is not quite captured in the photos. It simply slips on the wear with no closures. The edges are all detailed and finished with a wide and stunning panel of embroidered silk ribbon. This is laid out in two rows that sit side by side. In between them is a band of pale blue knots and a trellis made of a pink silk cord. The knots and trellis are all done in a blue silk cord and pink silk cord with tiny pops of green to portray the leaves. More knots bind the far side of the ribbon and the edges are finished with a hand done edging in the pink cording. I love the classic fifties styling with its cropped cut and loose fit through the body. The knit feels like a high grade angora mohair and you can clearly see the hand work from the back side. It is such a charming piece and a great way to work a fabulous piece of the past into your wardrobe. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear. In excellent condition and appears to have never been worm or worn very little. The easy cut should allow it to work on a range of sizes.

1982 Yves Saint Laurent Fine Black Wool & Braided Edge Minimalist Easy to Wear Poncho Cape
I Have a Question
This sleek black poncho cape is wonderful. It is by Yves Saint Laurent and is a beautiful and easy to wear piece that will fit virtually any size. A similar piece was shown on the runway for the 1982 collection and I have included reference photos from that show so that you can see just how great it works on the body. It is a wonderful example of the work he was doing during this time period. The cut is very simple. The back is one large panel and then there are two panels that fall across the shoulder and down the front. You just drape it over your shoulders and it simply falls into place once on. It is made out of a light fine black wool and all the edges are finished in his signature braiding. It looks to have been worn very little if at all and is the type of item that you can throw over almost anything. Excellent condition
Unlined and drapes over the shoulders to wear
Each front panel is 26" across and the back is double that.
It falls to approx 50" in length once on

c. 1973 Yves Saint Laurent Black Ribbed Knit Sweater w Mongolian Fur Trimmed Collar & Cuffs
I Have a Question
I own the twin of this exact piece and was happy to have found a second one that I can let some lucky girl buy. This is a version of the famous camel coloured knit and fox trimmed sweater that Jackie Kennedy Onassis famously wore in 1973. I have included photos of her in it along with the original runway presentation of that version. This version is an all black with a simple thick ribbed finish. It is cut with the same long and straight line through the body and long sleeves. Top set pockets sit on each hip. This one has a finish of a curly black Mongolian sheepskin fur instead of mink. This curves around the collar and wraps around each cuff. It is quite fabulous and a great piece to add over just about anything or wear on its own. Excellent condition
Unlined and buttons to close down the front. Pockets on each hip. Tagged a vintage YSL 40. The easy fit should allow it to work on a range of sizes.

This great little poncho cape is by Christian Dior from the Marc Bohan years. It is a beautiful and easy to wear piece that will fit virtually any size. The cut is very simple. The back is one large panel and then there are two panels that fall across the shoulder and down the front. It has one single hook at the neck and simply falls into place. It is made out of a deep blue wool and the edges are finished with a ribbed edging in the same wool. Running across the top of the shoulders, down the front, and following the curved line of the hem are leather paisley appliqués. Some of them are smaller then others and have darkened and shrunk so now have a different look and feel bit it doesn't detract from how overall fabulous the cape is. It just adds to its vintage charm. I have photoed them for you so you can see how they have changed. It is in wonderful shape otherwise and is the type of item that you can throw over almost anything. The cape is in excellent condition and the appliqués vary in condition as described above.

I Have a Question
This bucket bag by Gucci is fantastic and is a rare find. It is one of two that I have in the shop today and both were sourced from the original owner. This one has been made out of the famous Gucci logo canvas. The bag has a flat leather base so that it sits when you set it down. It curves up from there to the opening that is surrounded by gold toned metal loops. These are wrapped around an incredible deep brown lucite handle with a gold inset on either side of the handle. The handle is big enough that you can slip your arm through and wear it up on the shoulder. Running up the centre of the back of the bag is a wide band of leather that matches the base of the bag. This then extends out to create a strap and at the end of that is a huge double G logo in the same gold toned metal as the rings. The way the bag opens and closes is fantastic. To open it you flip the big double G logo back and over and the bag expands out and around the handle to create a wide opening at the top. To close it you flip the strap back over the top and the rings gather and close it tightly. It is genius. The bottom edge is finished with a wide band of their famous red and green stripes. This one came to me in an original Gucci shoe bag that will be sent with the bag. These bags are collectible in their own and well made. Excellent vintage condition with some natural patina
Inside it is an embroidered fabric as shows with a side pocket that has a snap to close. Minor patina and the gold hardware shows natural vintage patina here and there but no significant flaws that I can see. Everything is consistent with age and normal wear. Appropriate Gucci logo stamp on the underside of the top flap. Slight storage smell inside. The leather parts have been conditioned when they arrived here. The dress form it is photoed on is life size so gives you an excellent idea of size and how it sits on an actual person.

This is a classic circa 1989-1990 Chanel camera bag in a deep beautiful milk chocolate. The leather is quilted and has a 'puffed' effect to it. Gold toned hardware and chaining. It closes with a zipper that runs across the top and on the zipper pull is an attached tasseled fringed bag charm in the same leather with double CC metal hardware at the top. On the front is a folded flap with the Chanel double Cs logo topstitched onto it. This opens to reveal a slanted slit pocket. Inside it is lined in a dark brown leather with one zippered pocket one one side. Leather and chain handle. In good vintage condition
Guaranteed authentic. Intact hologram, and stamped appropriately. Date code reads 1540666. In good overall condition with small minor water spots here and there as seen in the photos. The quilting has de-puffed slightly and there is some wear and grubbiness to the edges on the front flap from normal wear. Minor storage smell inside. You can send this out to have it refurbished with Chanel or a specialist and it would double in value and look brand new or wear it with its current patina and the vintage charm it has. The dress form it is photoed on is life size so gives you an excellent idea of size and how it sits on an actual person. The leather is slightly darker in colour in person.

This is an amazing little clutch that was released as a limited edition bag in the mid-seventies. There were two styles released - this one with its smooth curved shape and one that has a small extension on one side and a beaded cord looped through. This one is a true clutch meant to be held in the hand and smooth, curved shape feel very tactile when held. It is hand carved and has a top flap that simply opens to expose a shallow carved out interior just bog enough for a credit card, some money and maybe small lipstick. It is gorgeous and a rare little piece of fashion history.
The bag shows some very minor patina at the back where it would rest on the table. Some of the shellac coating has worn off a touch there. It is numbered but they are hard to make out. The lid closes just a teeny bit more on one side then the other but this was entirely hand carved and I think that this is a natural part of its uniqueness. In very good condition. It came in a knit dustbin that I am not sure is original but will send with it

I Have a Question
This is a great little Fendi bag that has the most unusual design. It is very shaped and formed with hard sides so that it keeps the shape that you see and will hand upright when placed on a table. The exterior is covered in bands of a claret coloured silk that have been woven over each other to create the thatched feel that you see. It sits on a little acrylic base with wide feet on either side. Through that is strung a black silk cord that loops through at the sides and then extends up past the top of the bag. To open it you slide the top of the bag up the cords. Inside is a simple hollowed space lined in silk. It just big enough to fit a phone, credit card, money and maybe a lipstick.
The bag shows very minor patina on the edges of the feet of the base and on the silk where the top slides over the bottom part of the bag. The silk there has darkened a touch as you can see in the photos. In very good condition. It came with a Fendi knit dustbag that shows pilling over all of it. The dust bag will be sent with the bag. The colour is slightly deeper and a touch more towards a burgundy in person.
The body of the bag measures 7"H x 7" at the base x 2" at the base.

This was originally $945USD and this one looks like it was never used. I love its orange floral print and large size. The leather that the flowers have been printed on is slightly textured and gives the clutch a bit of a vintage feel. It zips all the way around with gold toned two-way zipper hardware and then opens to a large interior pocket with a black woven lining, a single slit pocket. Numbered and stamped interior tag. It is pristine and has its original hang tags tucked into a pocket.

This is an incredible piece of wearable art from the 1970s. It has no label and was probably a one off. This came from a woman who was very fashionable and regularly bought couture and high end and it is not hard to imagine that she had someone make this for her or that it was a designer piece that no longer has its label. The body of the vest is a black velvet that has an incredible design topstitched and quilted over it. The pieces that make up the design are a combination of rich jewel coloured velvets and silks. They have a bit of a padded feel to them which adds a slight 3D quality to the design. It is very beautiful with cranes swooping over the back and around the front. The opening for the arms, around the collar, down the front and around the hem are all finish with a white fox trim. Inside the jacket is lined in a what looks to be a sheared ivory ermine. It is a fantastic piece that beautifully represents its era. Excellent condition with a note below to review
Lined in a sheared ivory fur and has no closures. There are parts of the lining that have slightly separated from the exterior around the arms. Please see the last photo. Perhaps the slightest of wear to the fur around the edges of the arm openings.

I have a small collection of historically important, key designer labelled vintage furs and fur trimmed pieces stored away in my archives that I will be slowly posting on the site over the next couple of years until I have none left. I will no longer be buying furs for the shop moving forward and have not purchased anything for several years now. I feel like times have changed and while there still is a place for vintage furs for some, including collectors and historians, many modern girls are choosing other options. Many of the pieces in my collection are representative of the designer during a set time period in history that was different then our modern outlook. I have decided that the best course to handle this controversial issue is to let the pieces I have go rather then sit in a cold storage unit. Fur pieces are final sale.

c1973 Yves Saint Laurent Deep Red Sleeveless Sweater Vest w Black Fox Trim & Pockets
I Have a Question
This is a fantastic piece by Yves Saint Laurent that manages to feel refined and chic, yet very bold at the same time. This is a piece that would have been produced in the early 1970s and shows all the hallmarks of his work during this time period. The body of the sweater is made of a wool mix and I love how it blends a deep rusty red with a darker taupe colour. This gives the piece a very chic country feel. It is cut to cut long and straight through the body with no waist so that it creates a simple line that stops at the top of the hips. If you wanted more shape you could easily belt it. Front pockets sit low on the front on eithor side of the buttons. The buttons themselves are round and thick and are a deep charcoal meant to highlight the fur trim. The fur circles around the tops of each arm and is a soft and supple black fox. This adds unexpected volume to the top. This came from a woman who was very fashionable and regularly bought couture and high end and her pieces were well stored. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes down the front with the buttons you see. Tagged medium. The pockets at the front are shallow but functional. There is the slightest of wear to the edges of the fur but I am being extremely picky.

Philip Treacy was discovered by Isabella Blow in 1989. She was fundamental to introducing him to the fashion houses and Treacy quickly became known world wide. Vogue declared him as "perhaps the greatest living milliner", he was the first milliner in 80 years to be asked to exhibit during the Paris shows and his work is held in major museums worldwide. His work has graced the runways of Givenchy, Chanel and Valentino and earned him an OBE in 2007. I have three hats from my client who had each one made for her during the time period of 2001 -2006. This amazing hat one is a pale ivory color and it is made out of parasisal straw which is a fine natural straw woven from the fibres of the sisal plant, a type of agave. This straw is used in haute couture millinery because of its high quality and smooth weave and ability to take on color. Here he has hand blocked it onto a high crown that slants towards the front. The brim is wide and flat for extra drama. Wrapped around the base of the crown is a hand made wide ivory silk band. At one side towards the back there is a fluff of soft white feathers and then a spray of long ivory stiffened feathers that jaunt up and back. It is very hard to photo this color and the hat in person is even better than how it photoed. It is gorgeous in person. It looks to have never been worn or worn very little. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a bespoke piece from one of the preeminent hat designers of this century. Excellent condition
Has an ivory silk inner band with a strip of ivory velvet at the inner front for comfort when wearing. Has its original box with its hat form inside. The hat appears to have never been worn. The box was what it was shipped in so it has some scuffs and two of the corners of the lid have been taped.
Brim width: 4" at widest points
Circumference: 22.5"

Bespoke 2001-2006 Philip Treacy Haute Couture Parasisal Feather & Silk Flower Topper Hat
I Have a Question
Philip Treacy was discovered by Isabella Blow in 1989. She was fundamental to introducing him to the fashion houses and Treacy quickly became known world wide. Vogue declared him as "perhaps the greatest living milliner", he was the first milliner in 80 years to be asked to exhibit during the Paris shows and his work is held in major museums worldwide. His work has graced the runways of Givenchy, Chanel and Valentino and earned him an OBE in 2007. I have three hats from my client who had each one made for her during the time period of 2001 -2006. Each comes with its original box and each is in perfect condition
This is an incredible topper hat that exemplifies the Haute Couture fantasy world that Treacy is best known for. The straw portion of the hat is a soft natural straw color. It is made out of parasisal straw which is a fine natural straw woven from the fibres of the sisal plant, a type of agave. This straw is used in haute couture millinery because of its high quality and smooth weave and ability to take on color. Here he has hand blocked it into a round shape that has a little bubble shape within that. This is then finished with a hand beaded round ball made of glossy black crystals and a long stiffened feather juts out from that. On the opposite side is a very large ivory silk flower and a spray of long black feathers. This is all set atop a head band so that you can adjust it on your head to best suit your face. It is incredible. It looks to have never been worn or worn very little. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a bespoke piece from one of the preeminent hat designers of this century. Excellent condition
It slips on the head with a metal band and there is an attached comb to help secure it in place. A strip of ivory velvet at the inner front for comfort when wearing. Has its original box. The hat appears to have never been worn. The box was what it was shipped in so has some marks from the packing tape and minor scuffs. The box if very substantial and studded all around on top of having double clasp closures.

This one is the softest possible pale pinkish color and it is made out of parasisal straw which is a fine natural straw woven from the fibres of the sisal plant, a type of agave. This straw is used in haute couture millinery because of its high quality and smooth weave and ability to take on color. Here he has hand blocked it into a high crown with a jaunty little curve and peak at the top. The brim is slightly asymmetrical and curved gently down to highlight the face. Wrapped around the base of the crown is a hand made straw band that has been hand dyed to a soft red. This wraps and then ties in a curling detail at the front. It is beautiful. It looks to have never been worn or worn very little. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a bespoke piece from one of the preeminent hat designers of this century. Excellent condition

I Have a Question
This is a wonderful hip length string coat from the 1970s by the Crissa Cotique of France label. I love these and have had versions of these in the shop. I always look for them. It is made entirely from curved set rows of a soft and fluffy cotton string. Many designers have made versions of these coats since, but there is nothing like the original. You will see these pop up fairly often in the truly cropped length that lands above the hip, but the longer ones like this one are harder to find. I have one of these myself and I always look for the longer ones for the shop. I have included photos of the even longer version of it that I have so you can get an idea of how it looks on, but please note that this one would probably land at about the edge, or just above, of the mini dress I am wearing in the shots.
The color of the cotton string on this one is a light ivory/off-white color that is consistent from top to bottom. Any variations of color in the photos is the lighting only. The cut is loose and easy and it is open down the front with large sized, hidden snaps to close it. It has slouchy pockets on either hip. The inside is unlined and you can clearly see the way the string has been set onto the base and finished. It is meant to be big and slouchy once on so the size is almost irrelevant as they will fit pretty much any size. These can be styled for high, sexy glamour or keep it soft and romantic. These coats can top absolutely anything from jeans to an evening dress, making them an extremely versatile piece to have in your wardrobe. It is a timeless piece of instant glamour and a fabulous alternative to any type of fur, whether it be faux or real. Excellent condition with a minor note below to review
Unlined and closed with hidden set, large snaps along the front. The color is consistent and the strings are strong and stable. These were cut to be worn over-sized and slouchy and it will fit a variety of sizes. There is a mark near the label that is only on the interior and does not show at all on the outside. A touch of grubbiness to the strings to the edge of one side at the bottom. Please see the two photos after the shot of the label

I Have a Question
This is a more recent top by designer Caroline Constas that is done in a crisp blue and white stripe. It is cut to sit as a strapless piece with attached sleeves that sit well off the shoulders and are poufed out for volume. The body of the top is cut to flare out quite wide around the waist so that you get this lovely sense of volume mixed with the bare skin of the shoulders. Inside there is a built in foundation piece with its own separate zipper so the top is held in place around your bust. It looks to have never been worn and is like new. Excellent condition.
There is a inner built in piece made out of elastized lingerie fabric and light boning, This zips at the back and then the top is loose and easy over that and also zips with a hidden set zipper at the back. Tagged a M. Appears unworn.
Inner bust: 16-17.5" flat across from side seam to side seam

I Have a Question
This is a rare and wonderful Jeff Banks 1960s light weight printed cotton voile top that is fabulous. The base is black and onto that is a stunning novelty print of swimmers coursing through the water. Each figure is done in a mix of blue, white and yellow. This is a very rare example of his print work on a specific pattern other then a floral or stripe. The cuffs buttons to close and the sleeves each pouf out above the wide cuffed wrists in his signature sleeve shape. The cut is slim and sexy and the collar is done in an extreme, long pointed shape. His signature, double button front is the perfect finish. It is amazing. Excellent overall condition with one small note to review below
Unlined and closes with his signature double button front. Two buttons at each wrist. The very top button on the collar is missing. Otherwise looks to have been worn very little if at all.

This is one of two leopard printed pony hair jackets that I have in the shop this week that originate from Mexican during the 1960s or 70s. These would have been made by hand by local artisans for the tourist market and represent an important part of the artisanal history during this time period. This one has a single row of matching buttons that run down the front and a very wide collar that is rounded off at its edges. The sleeves are long and the waist is seamed so that is nips in a bit. The skirt of the coat flares out from under that. The coat has a ton of swag to it and is amazing in person. I love the little flap pockets on the hips. The coat is not 100% perfect but its in great condition and still very wearable.
Lined in a silky deep red rayon and closes with the buttons at the front. The very bottom button is missing. There is a small repair on the back of the coat that I have photoed. The inner fabric around the label is also a bit grubby. The coat is in as found condition and does have a slight vintage odor. The pelts are still supple and glossy.

Fur coats are final sale.
