1970s Pretty Jeff Banks Printed Floral Swing Dress

Though I do come across Jeff Banks tops here and there his dresses are a little harder to find so having one is always a treat. This particular one has a real forties feel to it that I love, something the Brits during this time period loved doing. It is made of a silky rayon and has a pretty fine floral print that runs over its surface. The cut is very flattering and feminine with a pretty dipped and curving bodice and V back. This tops a waist that is cinched with seaming and skims over the torso, opening to a fuller swing style skirt. I love how he used different color fabrics that are all subtle variations of the floral print to add detail and contrast to the upper bodice. It is just quite simply put a pretty little dress. Excellent condition

1970s Printed Angel Sleeve Floral Print Cotton Dress

This pretty little dress is made from a light beige cotton with a floral print that runs over its entire surface. These were all the rage in the late 1960s and into the 1970s and this example id an exceptionally pretty one. The neckline is square off and accented with a touch of lace. That same lace runs down the front panels and is used to edge those amazing sleeves. The sleeves are truly spectacular with an immense amount of fabric used to create each huge circle drop. The skirt is full length and has a gorgeous little riffled hem. It simply pops on and ties at the back with the attached ties secured to each side of the waist. It is wonderful. Great over all condition with one note below

Unlined and closes at the back with a painted metal & nylon zipper. Ties at the waist. Note that there is a slight darkening to the fabric under the arms - I have provided photos. It does not show when on at all and is barely noticeable. Priced with this in mind and actually less then what I paid for it as I did not notice that when I purchased! A steal

1970s Printed Floral Smocked Maxi Dress

Really unusual and fantastic smocked maxi dress form the seventies has an almost Ossie Clark like feel to it with that pretty floral print. I love the design - the entire top portion is smocked in elastic gathers so it just conforms to fit pretty much any figure or size as long as the shoulders and hips work. The sleeves have an almost Victorian feel to them with smocking at the elbow so they puff up above and below when worn. The skirt is super long and has lots of fabric. The crepe fabric holds the color well so the print is as vibrant as it was the day it was made. Super unusual, easy to wear - just slip it on add fabulous shoes and go!! Excellent condition.

1970s Printed Maurice Maxi Dress

Love this printed 1970s dress by Maurice, who was a Pucci & Leonard contemporary in the seventies and used the same type of print work in his pieces. The dress has a halter style bodice that is bordered with a contrasting print. It is cut fairly straight though the hips and has a slit up one side to show a flash of leg. It is a great & easy dress to wear† - style it for day with flats or paired with a cropped evening jacket and heels for evening events year-round. I love the simple halter cut from which the skirt flows to the ground. The back is left completely bare and the colors remain crisp and true. Excellent condition!

1970s Purple Velvet Halston Plunge Dress

An amazing black label 1970s Halston in a luxurious, rich purple velvet. The photos come close to conveying the color but it is even better n person. It is bias cut and with as little seaming as possible - in that classic Halston kind of way! The front literally plunges to the waist - though the cut is so well done you could spin this around and wear it to the back if you wished. The waist is elastic so is extremely comfortable to wear and will adjust easily to fit. The skirt is fairly straight with maybe a hint of an A-line to it. It is lined in a tissue silk hand dyed to match the purple and is all hand sewn and hand finished inside. Glorious, sexy and velvet is trending back in a big way! Excellent condition! Item# DD727

1970s Rare and Chic Hermes Black Linen Wrap Dress

An amazing, sculptural piece from the house of Hermes in the most amazing starched black linen! The choice of fabric gives it an instant sense of luxury and chicness. The bodice is dipped in a V at the front and it wraps to close. The front wraps over itself, securing with a series of buttons hidden inside and then the other, exterior side and shoulder are detailed with a tightly spaced series of gold embossed Hermes buttons. The skirt flares out in an A-line to a chic midi length. I love the sculptural line of it and the fabric choice - it feels very jet set with that rich luxurious feel that house always seems to infuse into its goods. Hidden halfway under that front wrap just below where the gold buttons end is a large pocket that sits on the hip. Really a wonderful and chic dress. Excellent, appears to never have been worn condition.

Unlined with finished inner seams through out. It wraps to close with a series of buttons inside at the waist and then the outer buttons as seen. Buttons across the top of the shoulder as well. There is a half hidden pocket just under the front button. All the buttons are engraved "Hermes Paris". Tagged a 38

1970s Rare Book Piece Biba Jumpsuit

Fabulous jumpsuit by one of my favorite of the British labels - the iconic Biba! Biba designs ruled the night clubs of the seventies and have a sexy, easy way about them - a Biba is instantly recognizable and there is nothing like them in the way that they are cut - then or since - they tended to be made of fabulous materials (like this piece which is made of a semi sheer cotton voile) and move well and wear well. This one piece jumpsuit has wide bell bottom legs, the most amazing sleeves with tight cuffs and a huge billow effect just above and buttons down the front with matching fabric covered buttons. The signature dog ear Biba collar sits at the neck! There is only the remnant of a tag at the neck but it is absolutely the real thing. To be honest if the full tag was present I would mark it higher in price so you are getting a steal. It is the real thing and it is amazing and I think the best jumpsuit I have ever seen!

1970s Rare Char Suede & Snake Bolero

I am having a little hippie chic bohemian moment so forgive me the indulgence of sharing it with you. There is just something about these late 60s, early 70s hand made, soft as butter leathers that just feel right at the moment. The Char label is one of the best and has a cult like following and I have a couple of really unusual pieces to share. This one is a fantastic cropped bolero made of a combination of dyed sueded deer skin in a rust color with fantastic snake insets under each arm. Char made these pieces, by hand from approx 1968 - about 1975-76 in Mexico. Some of the best leather craftsman in the world were there at the time and the piece made are fantastic. It's all hand whip-stitched and corded and the ball details on the tassel on the front are hand carved. Just look at those amazing shoulders! Unusual and fantastic and in excellent condition.

1970s Rare Fringe Stephen Burrows Maxi

Insanely rare and insanely fabulous gold eyelash fringe one shoulder dress from Stephen Burrows is hands down one of my most favorite pieces ever, The gold is a true gold in person and its almost a tinsel that is applied to a black silk chiffon backing. The rows between the gold are actually semi sheer but you get enough coverage from the tightly spaced rows to feel decent when wearing it! Its one shoulder and fitted tightly tot he body through the chest and then swoops out in a A-line. A 22" high slit on one side adds a flash of leg. A real collectible and a real rarity! Mint condition!

1970s Rare Lanvin Multi Colour Jumpsuit

Seriously fabulous jumpsuit by one of my favorite labels - the iconic house of Lanvin! In the late 60s and early 70s jerseys where the new miracle fabrics and Lanvin jumped on that (then) high tech wagon and began producing amazing pieces that were easy to wear and care for and looked like a million bucks on. They appealed to their younger, jet set client and still seem fresh. I have seen many a spectacular little dress but this jumpsuit has to be one of the best pieces I have yet to have! It is an amazing array of bright colors that are worked into the fabric from the top of the collar to the bottom of that fabulous hem. It zips at the front so you can choose to wear it as low as you dare. The sleeves are long and lean and the collar appropriately pointed. The original tie belt cinches in the waist and the result is one long, supermodel silhouette. I love the subtle floral pattern that runs through the base of the fabric too - a little nod to the inner wild child of the wearer. Amazing condition - appears to have never been worn.

1970s Rare Laura Biagotti Cut Out Dress

Amazing and rare Laura Biagotti, sixties sex kitten knit dress in a baby blanket soft light knit that is all gorgeous soft, pastels. Part of why this works so well is the balancing act created by the contrast of the pastel color and the abject sexiness of the open sides. The top portion is created by angled strips of knit with little cap sleeves. It attaches tot he skirt which is striped with a reflecting chevron. The front also notches up† I love how all the stripes line up perfectly. It is very risque and fabulous! This is the dress for when you want to look and feel a mile tall and drop a few jaws in the process!! Excellent condition.

1970s Rare Metallic Missoni 4 Piece Set

Very very rare 1970s metallic lurex, super fine weight knit Missoni 4 piece set! It really is one of my absolute favorites in a while and even at this price I feel that the girl who gets it is a getting a steal! The photos do not come close to capturing the beauty of the fabric or the way it moves and how fine and light it is. It is remarkable to find all four pieces together as well! The skirt slips on with an elastic waist and has a subtle almost pleat running through it. It is lined in a fine, light nude jersey. The top is cut to be worn loose and draped with soft shoulders, cuffed cap sleeves and a ruffled at the neckline and a ruffled effect hem. The set comes with two sashes - one a long fabric piece - I have wrapped it around the neck for these shots but you can style it a million ways - as a turban, a alternate belt a neck tie..... It also has a more traditional belt that closes with a bakelite looking clasp in green and silver. It has a strong couture forties vibe but is all Missoni! Excellent condition and a treasure!

1970s Rare Silk Halston Evening Jacket

I love Halston and to find a silk evening coat is a rare thing and this one is exceptional. Cut with his masterful mind towards minimalist and with the utmost respect to the fabric and the grain this beauty is all rounded seams combined with the sensual tactile experience of the silk satin. The color is a true brilliant red and when done in a silk satin, it has a depth and extra tone that conveys a sense of rich luxury. It slips on and ties and once ties the column of the rounded, almost sculptural shoulders is balanced with created flare at the hip. Tagged with the couture black tag this is a wonderful versatile and rare piece that is both infinitely wearable and collectible. Excellent condition.

1970s Rare Wool Crepe Chloe Day Dress

A gorgeous and Karl Lagerfeld for Chloe dress in a delicious fine wool moss crepe! The bodice is cut to be fitted and skim over the torso. The sleeves are amazing - they flare out to an almost bubble at the cuff and have an elastic around each wrist so that the fabric poufs out above. The skirt flows out from the waist and is cut in a sift A-line with a touch of fullness but in a sleek and subdued way. I love the edge stitched collar and slight plunge front, The stitching is picked up on the wide sash belt too. You can just picture this dress styled with high boots and a wide brimmed Yves Saint Laurent hat and in the pages of Vogue back in its day! Wonderful, sophisticated piece that feels as modern now as then. Excellent condition

1970s Red Chiffon I Magnin Maxi Dress

Such a shame that this piece does not have any other label other then the I Magnin department store label as it surely is a designer piece! The drape and cut are just too brilliant for it not to be. I know I will be sad when this one goes! Right on trend with the current obsession for all things red, chiffon and long, this is a wonderful, goddess, draped poly chiffon piece that has a wonderfully floating effect when worn. Quite modest n its cut the neckline is high and the skirt long but its the fabric that takes center stage. There is actually a pretty camisole tanked bodice built in under the top so you get a pretty and romantic feel. The sleeves are incredible - I love the exaggerated, soft ruffle each ends in. That same ruffle is picked up on both layers of the skirt. Two full chiffon layers top the inner lining so it moves and swirls wonderfully! really a stunning dress and in excellent condition.

1970s Red Chiffon Victor Costa Maxi

A gorgeous goddess feel, draped chiffon maxi dress that drapes fantastically and has lots of light as a feather fabric in it! It makes this amazing dress be both flattering and dramatic! A orange based red chiffon drapes perfectly over an inner built in dress giving it a wonderfully romantic and exotic feel. The fabric on the exterior has a light cross check pattern worked into it and gives the effect of depth and texture This adds a subtle interest to the dress that is really pretty in person. The sleeves are full and gather in at each wrist with an elastic cuff and the skirt flows to the ground in a swath of lightness. I love the double row if silk satin ribbon that circles the hem. It is a pretty and flattering touch. Its extremely flattering, easy to wear and high on drama. Excellent condition!

1970s Red Halter Low Back Estevez Maxi

Amazing and seriously sexy red, backless halter top dress by Estevez. This dress has the most amazing tie detail that is actually an extension of the halter ties at the neck! These are very long and cross and wrap and ties to really give the gown a goddess feel!! That front has a slight draped at the neckline and the ties nip in the high waist. The skirt falls gracefully to the floor in a sweep of jersey nylon fabric. It is is fully lined so does not have that cheap feel some jerseys have from this period. It feel like a solidly constructed dress on that magically moves and falls like a goddess! The back is of course where all the emphasis is - almost entirely backless it is a stunning silhouette. 1970s Red Hand Painted Char Jacket

The Char label is one of the best of the hand made hippie chic labels from the sixties and seventies and has a cult like following - and I have a couple of really unusual pieces to share! I am still having that little hippie chic bohemian moment this season so forgive me the indulgence of sharing it with you. There is just something about these late 1960s, early 1970s hand made, (and often made to order), soft as butter leathers that just feel right for the mood of the season. This one is a fantastic jacket that is hand-dyed to a deep red color - you can imagine the dye came from the desert itself! (It is a slight more dusty, deep red then photoed) It is a combination of suede and deer skin that is hand cut and whip-stitched into place. The deerskin front and back panels are then hand painted with a bouquet of sweet little field flowers. Each sleeve has a notch cuff and is finished with a tight edging of whip stitching. Dog eared collar and incredible hand made buttons!

1970s Red Jersey Jean Muir Dress

Jean Muir is renowned for her cut and use of fluid flowing silk like jerseys and this is a beautiful example of that. There are seams built in at each hip so the skirt has extra movement - much like a thirties dress. The body is cut long and lean with vertical seaming and a belt to nip in the waist. Each seam is done with her signature top stitching in a matching red thread. This dresses would have been by one single person start to finish - during this time period all of her pieces where meticulously constructed in this manner. It is really spectacular and literally transforms when worn. It has a definite thirties feel to it and the red gives it a little sense of naughtiness and danger. The sleeves are just wonderful - they are cut fuller at the shoulder and upper arm and deliberately cut a bit long so that when the cuffs are buttoned the sleeves billow out above. Each cuff is 4" wide and top stitched as well. The original belt is present and features a unusual red tinted plastic slide buckle. Great condition and a fabulous and rare piece.

1970s Red Moss Crepe Corset Ossie Clark

Girls who buy Ossie Clark dresses can become addicted -they transform when on a girl and it is very hard to resist that. Certain styles are a bit rarer then others and this one, in bright and true red moss crepe, is a rare one. A mile long tie that acts as a corset, threads through a series of fabric loops set along a seam inset along the waist. You can tie and wrap and cinch - or not- in as many ways as you can think up! I have shown it tied and cinched in the most basic of ways but you could come up with dozens of alternatives. When not tied the dress is actually a loose fitting smock dress that comes out from the shoulders in that classic Ossie Clark cut. Modified leg of mutton sleeves, a smocked back panel and dog ear collar add the perfect finishes. Excellent condition.

1970s Red Top Stich Jean Muir Jersey

Jean Muir is renowned for her cut and use of fluid flowing jerseys. This dress is a classic example of that aesthetic. It a fabulous pink based red (I honestly can't decide if it is a red or a pink) weightless jersey that moves like nothing else. The top is cut in a simple fashion until you hit the waist at which point there is a sewn in waist band that is seamed and top stitched to create both visual interest and to display her trademark detailing. This same treatment is on each cuff and at the notch of each cuff sits another trademark - a single clear rod button - so subtle it is almost unnoticeable! The skirt swings out from the waist and falls perfectly. Each of her dresses where made one at a time and by one single person start to finish. They are spectacular and literally transform into these magical draped things of beauty when they hit a live body. The cut allows for a variety of sizes to wear this piece - even someone with a small frame can get away with it! In perfect condition.

1970s Red Velvet Maxi Length Great Coat

This is an amazing, statement making, super model length,† red crease and water repellent velvet great coat. This is the type of coat that the seventies made infamous - it has the perfect lines - a fitted bodice topping a sweeping A-line, floor sweeping skirted bottom. The collar is huge - just a killer detail that takes up almost the entire bodice portion. I love the gold and velvet buttons and the entire thing is lined in a matching red satin. The red will act as both a strong statement and surprisingly as a neutral - you can top just about any color with this beauty! There are wonderful seaming arrow detail on each pocket. It is a coat for a girl that wants to make and entrance! Excellent condition!

1970s Robert David Morton Print Gown

I love this dress! Its bright and the print on it so unusual - almost a cross between giant braided blue ropes and some wild reptile! The blue against the green is delicious and the fabric so easy to wear - its that slinky fluid 70s jersey with just enough weight so it feel good on and not cheap. The skirt flares out in a surprisingly wide A-line so you get lots of movement. The waist nips in and flows smoothly up and into the bust. Long skinny sleeves cover you completely so that open neck keyhole seems unbelievably sexy as a contrast! Love the seaming through the bodice - take a moment to see - its all angled and really interesting. Fantastic piece. I predict this label is just going to go up and up in price so its a good investment too. Appears to have never been worn and in excellent condition.

Wonderful Bill Blass maxi gown takes your basic black and makes it quite fabulous. The use of this front silhouette with the ruffly and the tie halter is a favorite for Blass and one that is hard to beat. It is very flattering on a girl - it elongates the silhouette and gives a wonderful goddess feel. The dress is made of a good weight jersey and is very fluid and drapes perfectly. The skirt is long and lean with a front slit for ease of wear and a flash of leg. The top drapes beautifully when worn and the back is low enough to be sexy bit not so low that you cannot wear an undergarment. Excellent condition!

The drape and cut are just too brilliant for it not to be. Right on trend with the current obsession for all things red, chiffon and long, this is a wonderful, goddess, tiered and draped poly chiffon piece that has a wonderfully floating effect when worn. Quite modest in its cut the neckline is high and the skirt long but its the fabric that takes center stage. There is actually a full dress done in silk crepe, built in under the entire dress so you get a pretty and romantic feel on the exterior but feel properly structured and covered inside. The skirt is incredible - I love the tiered layers that float atop of each other. The way they move when this is one is incredible! The waist gets cinched in with a sash made of matching fabric. 1970s Saks Fifth Ave Organza Maxi Dress

This is a pretty piece from Saks that may have had a second designer label at one time but sadly only the one still remains. It has a Sari like feel to it and I love that about it - it makes it feel slightly exotic and mysterious. The exterior is a poly organza with gold thread worked into it to create that pretty design. The illusion is that of a draped and wrapped dress but it is really created by a faux overlay at the front while the back has a panel that snaps into place at one shoulder and drapes down and over the entire back. This cleverly conceals the zipper and gives it the feel that you have cleverly wrapped the dress around you somehow. Its quite lovely and in wonderful condition! Item# DD693

1970s Scaasi Strapless Metallic Gown

Beautiful Scaasi Boutique piece done in an unusual metallic fabric striped with silk satin on an angle to create an almost be-ribboned feel. It's all done on an angle and the fabric has enough weight to it that the wonderful A-line shape is kept. It creates an almost sculptural piece in the way it sits on the body! I love it! Even though the metallic bits are broken buy the banding in between you still have this wonderful floral design that comes out - the subtle reds and blues and golds are all scattered over the gown from top to bottom! The bodice is fitted and boned and there is a subtle gather of the fabric for an interesting detail. The waist nips in and the skirt falls to the floor with just a but of a flare at the bottom hem. Lovely and in wonderful condition!

1970s Screened Silk Gazar Givenchy

A drop dead Givenchy in the most unusual fabrication. Its a hand screened blue and white design on a silk gazar. The fabric has just the teeniest touch of stiffness to it so the shape is kept when worn. The dress is a column-like sheath ...strapless (more on that later) over which a ruffled drape of fabric is applied. This ruffled edge drape goes over the bodice and then swoops down the sides and around the back to form an informal train. 1970s Sequin Bird Bob Mackie Gown

This is a very rare and early Bob Mackie piece that precedes his own label and was produced in tandem with Ray Aghayan. You can see his future love of sequins in this piece! Made of a stretch silk jersey it is a sexy one shoulder silhouette. Onto the front of the bodice that has a shoulder strap is an elaborate and beautiful hand applied bird of paradise made entirely of sparkly rhinestones, tube beads and glossy black bead work. It gives the simple cut dress an instant dose of high glamour and the bird itself is like wearing a huge piece of jewelery. The fabric is cut on the bias and is insanely comfortable to wear so the contrast of that glamorous detailing paired with a comfortable dress is just irresistible, It is also a good weight that has a beautiful drape but still manages to glide over the body and be very flattering! His early pieces are the hardest to find and this is a stunning example of his early work! Excellent condition

Unlined and closes with a slightly offset back painted metal zipper. Small fabric covered "sticks of boning at the side that has the bare shoulder to help hold it properly in place. Note the color has a slight blue tone to it in person - in some lights it looks proper black, in others a deep deep indigo - its very flattering! The bird was hand applied and the stitching is easily seen on the back of the fabric. It looks like it was let out along the sides at some point. There are very very very faint lines that you can see if you look crazy close.

1970s Sequin Chloe Car Wash Hem Maxi

Rare and exceptional, late seventies, early eighties fully sequined car wash hem dress by Chloe from when Karl Lagerfeld designed for the house. The base of the dress is a black tissue silk and the sequin work literally covers every square inch. Very light weigh sequins were used and this combined with the silk makes the piece exceptionally fluid and movable. Really extraordinary. The cut is all karl - long and lean with a starkness contrasted by that deep deep gun metal gloss caused by the sequin work. The front plunges quite low and the line unbroken at the waist. It flows down, following every curve until just past the knee where it blossoms into four A-line shaped panels that are all separate form each other and are fully sequined on the front and the back so you do not loos the sequin effect no matter how you move. Mint condition and a real beauty.

1970s Sequin Sarmi Maxi Dress or Coat

Ferdinando Sarmi was known for making clothes that had opulent fabrics and a decadent appeal. That pretty much sums up this piece! The label dates this piece to the early seventies. Dyed pink netting has a multi color pattern applied in a rainbow of pastels. That pattern was then appliqued over with gold threading and pastel colored metallic hued sequins. Under that outer layer is baby pink tissue silk. The entire thing weighs almost nothing. It snaps to close down the front so you can wear it as a evening piece or use it as a light weight full length coat over another piece. It present amazingly well and really is a strong statement piece. I love the soft palette of color mixed with the glint of the sequins! Hand finishes as one would expect. Versatile, amazing and in great condition!

Fully lined in a pale pink tissue silk. Hand finished throughout. It closes with large fabric covered snaps under each fabric covered buttons. Similar snaps are at each cuff. There are very small marks inside the lining at the back - these do not affect its wearability. The gold thread and sequins follow a pattern screened onto silk netting. There are breaks in the threads here and there throughout - this happens with age with this type of thread and it gives it a patina that can't really be considered a flaw - it is unavoidable. The garment has been priced accordingly.

1970s Silk & Jersey Holly Harp Maxi Dress

This is a phenomenal Holly Harp maxi dress that is everything fabulous you would expect form this era and this designer. Made of a slinky silk jersey it is actually lined in the same jersey so has a good weight to it and also hangs perfectly as a result. The inner dress is a straight to the floor sheath with long skinny sleeves and her signature stitched finish hem so it has the slightest of a ruffled effect. This piece also has an amazing silk chiffon overlay on the bodice. The overlay has bits of lame threading in black woven in as well as a design in silver and white thread - it lies over the bodice and has a extra long jersey tie that you can wrap and sash as you please. It also allows you to change the length of the dress. Fabric rosettes sit atop each shoulder as the finishing touch! Really fabulous and in mint condition.

1970s Silk & Lace Chloe Lingerie Set

These are pretty rare and I am pleased to have a small selection of these high end lingerie pieces in. This set is just wonderful and I love that the silk is opaque enough that you could easily wear the inner piece as a summer slip dress without hesitation. What a beautiful set this is and it is obviously lingerie of a very high quality. It is two pieces - an inner night dress made of silk and lace and an outer silk robe trimmed in the same fine lace. The color of both is a pretty soft, pastel lavender and the netting based lace is an off-white. The inner dress is a loose fitting, romantic fall of silk with the lace dividing it into tiered sections. It falls to the floor and is suspended from the shoulder with pretty straps. The outer robe buttons over that with more of that beautiful lace detailing the shoulders and finishing each cuff. It has pockets and the cascades to the floor in a fuller, looser silhouette. The workmanship is heavenly and this si definitely high end lingerie. Excellent condition

Unlined and made from a light silk crepe. The inner dress slips on to wear and ties at the back and the outer robe buttons to close. Both pieces are opaque enough to be able to be worn individually.

1970s Silk Chiffon & Roses Treacy Lowe

The thing about Treacy Lowe dresses is the fabric. She used the lightest, finest, almost impossible to work with tissue silk gauze's and sheer silk chiffons that you can possibly use before you have nothing in your hands at all. It means that a dress like this weighs a few ounces and feel like nothing else when worn. This has a definite nod to that flowing draped goddess wear so prevalent in the 70s. The dress flows out from the shoulders and then again from the elastic set waist and yards of silk drape to the ground. The sleeves are left unlined and are very wide - almost kimono like in nature. The print is hand screened and the design is a profusion of tiny perfect flowers that cover every inch. Pretty threads of gold thread through to give it a subtle shimmer. I love the contrasting edge on the bottom hem and each sleeve! The silk chiffon is the the finest Indian silk you could get at that time. Mint condition.

1970s Silk Chiffon Estevez Gown

A glorious gown from Estevez in a bright printed silk chiffon over a silk base. This gown is stunning in person! The top has a floating chiffon capelet that is attached. It dips down to a low V at the back. You could probably wear this backwards and still have it work! The skirt flares out and has miles and miles of hand screened silk chiffon. The color is a lovely true and clear yellow mixed with white. Its flowing and goddess like and superbly made. I love the little row of fabric covered buttons that trail down the back of that caped bodice - such a pretty romantic touch! Excellent condition.

1970s Silk Chiffon Hem Yves Saint Laurent Dress & Capelet

This dress and capelet set by Yves Saint Laurent is just dreamy and a piece you will want to wear over and over. The dress on its own is fabulous but once topped with the cape, it takes on an even greater airiness and lightness and you see just how cleverly the two pieces work together. It is made from a feather light silk chiffon that has one of his signature tiny floral prints printed onto the fabric in two soft tangerine shades. The dress is a simple affair that is suspended from the shoulders from two straps made of the same fabric. The body of the dress flows from bust to hem in a gentle widening A-line with a second, pointed-panel of fabric on both the front and back attached around the top of the bodice. These panels float over the inner dress and add such a beautiful sense of movement and lightness. Finally, the cape pops over the head and gently sits on the shoulders and that same angled line is used with this as well so that you get this beautiful continuation of that lines from top to bottom. It is just stunning and a rare and wonderful Laurent piece. Excellent condition

The dress and capelet are unlined though the top layer does give it some opaqueness. The dress slips on and closes with a button at one side that sits over a slight keyhole. 1970s Silk Chiffon Jean Varon Maxi Dress

This 1970s silk chiffon goddess dress by the great Jean Varon is constructed with a layer of eggplant hued silk chiffon cascading from the shoulders. A second layer of silk is set from the neckline so it acts like a romantic, feminine capelet. Underneath the top is cut halter style so your bare shoulders peep through that topmost layer. The skirt is a wide Aline cut so there is a lot of fabric in there and you get a fantastic amount of movement. It is really a lovely piece that drapes perfectly and feel shockingly fresh and modern! Absolutely fantastic and in excellent condition!

1970s Silk Chiffon Lillie Rubin Leopard

Sexy silk chiffon, late 1970s dress in a wild leopard print is just one of those stop-yu-in-your-tracks kind of pieces. It is strapless and the silk has been gathered into tiny vertical soft pleats through the bodice , rounding around the bust and the swooping down past the waist to the tops of the hips. The skirt flows out from under this corseted bodice and has the illusion of wrapping around the hips. It flows lower int he back and the wraps at the front so you get an amazingly sexy flash of leg when you move. The print it that perfect leopard print and the entire dress is just fantastic and it is in excellent condition!

1970s Silk Chiffon Metallic Richeline

An absolute fabulous silk chiffon dress! Silk chiffon seems to be the flavour of the moment on the runways and this vintage version is exceptional. Black silk has a wonderful array of bright metallic colors worked into it. These swirl like candy ribbons over the entire surface in pretty hues of metallic blues, greens, red and gold. The bodice is simple with a fairly low plunge. The skirt sweeps tot he floor and has panels of tightly knife pleated silk with a non pleated panel at the front that is cut so it creates a beautiful ruffled effect - this front panel also swoops up so you get a flash of leg! The sleeves are just past the elbow and have that same knife pleated treatment to them. Really wonderful. It is in excellent, seems to be unworn, condition!

This is a gorgeous silk jersey top by Leonard that has a brilliant floral design that pops perfectly against the black background. Bright, tropical colors are mixed to perfection to produce this fabulous little easy to wear top. A high neck with full shoulder that narrow to skinny cuffs are the perfect finish. I love the wide elastic at the waist as it allows you to wear it high and bloused or lower on the hips. The fabric is extremely light weight and feels fantastic on. A gorgeous goddess feel, crepe jersey gown that drapes fantastically. This amazing gown is both flattering and dramatic! White silk crepe falls perfectly over an inner jersey base in a classic Romanesque column. The bust is reinforced so no undergarments are required when wearing this piece. II love how the fabric is hand placed and stitched into soft pleats across the front bodice. This adds fullness and subtle interest. A swatch of fabric appears to loop over the bust and then falls to the floor in a flowing column that helps add the illusion of leanness and height. Most La Mendola dresses are patterned so for the girl that wants the ease and quality of a La Mendola piece but can't do head to toe pattern this is the perfect compromise. This dress is quite fabulous with it's brilliant emerald green color creating high impact even without any other design on it. The La Mendola label is highly collectible and sought after - when the duo behind the label where designing in Rome it was girls like Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth that were buying. The Italian shop closed in 1974 but they continued to supply American Shops like Bergdorf's and Montaldo's. The dress is made of a stretch jersey and has a simple cut with an defined waist, high neck and long sleeves. I love how it covers the body completely but the fabric drapes and clings to every curve so it is still insanely sexy. This one has a matching tie belt that will allow you to cinch on the waist for more shape if you wish. The high neckline has a soft bit of drape to it which adds a pretty detail and the skirt has yards of fabric. It is an amazing piece. Excellent condition.

This is an absolutely stunning Paganne in a soft silk jersey, with an amazing color palette of bright tropical lime greens, mixed with a pretty floral print in pinks all mixed with a crisp white! The bodice is very simple with pretty floral trimmed bands around the neck and the arms. It has a bit of a scooped neck which is very flattering. The skirt is long and the combination of print and color is so striking! One side of that skirt has a sexy 18" slit. It is a beautiful, dramatic piece and in excellent condition

The dress is utterly fabulous! A bright mod print is done in shades of corals and tangerines with pops of purple on this stunning silk jersey maxi dress. The La Mendola label is highly collectible and sought after - when the duo behind the label where designing in Rome it was girls like Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth that were buying! The Italian shop closed in 1974 so this would date prior to that. The actual dress is supermodel length and fitted with a long and lean silhouette. Added to this is a silk chiffon overlay made of yards and yards of a custom screened matching fabric. It is cut almost apron like with an opening down each side and it just ties. This allows you to wear it a variety of ways - as a skirted top layer or you can get clever and use it as a top tier or a cape! That wedding gown like tiny spaced row of fabric covered buttons at the back and the high neck are just icing on the cake! It is an amazing piece and in excellent condition. Item# DD795

1970s Silk Taffeta Valentino Bubble Skirt

This is a really unusual skirt and has a decidedly couture feel to it! You can see that trademark Valentino touch in this piece with its two layers of fullness - cinched in between so that it creates to great and dramatic poufs! The taffeta has just enough weight to keep the shape and you can wear it more or less bubbled by adjusting a tie that sits under the top pouf! A very unusual piece and in mint condition!

This is the season for these longer gypsy syle skirts and I have a entire batch of them in an assortment of prints and pretty colors to share - all from the great Yves Saint Laurent! This one is just stunning with its blurred watercolor floral design on a cream silk backdrop - the colors absolutely pop!. The skirt widens as it flows out to the hem and it has a stunning ruffled hip detail that is completely exxagerated and just the kind of detail you expect from one of the great couturiers. It moves fantastically - its made of silk taffeta so has great drape and is light and airy feeling when worn. It also has fantastic hidden side pockets! Excellent conditon.

1970s Silk Twill Print Bergdorf Gown

What an absolutely amazing dress. First the fabric - this is that perfect silk twill - think Hermes scarf weight and feel - this type of silk holds color like no other and the depth of hue and tonality to the print in this wonderful piece is breathtaking. It is truly like a work of art! It has that completely covered, but still sexy hostess gown feel to it. The skirt is shockingly full, yards and yards of fabric make that skirt move beautifully when you do. The top crosses so a flash of cleavage and skin is shown and it is cut simply to drape on a girl perfectly. The sleeves are long and each ends in a 4 inch cuff with fabric covered buttons. When done up these cause the sleeves to billow softly above each cuff. The original long, hand rolled and had sewn tie belt is present and it is in remarkable condition. A stunning and beautiful piece!
