A museum quality, amazing 1970s silk chiffon set by Hanae Mori. This is everything you look for in a Hanae piece. It has her spectacular custom designed print on feather light silk chiffon. All the edges of the top are clearly marked and the skirt is signed throughout as well. The cut has that draped, goddess, flowing feel to it that collectors crave when they look for the best of Hanae's pieces. This is couture on the highest level with everything about the piece done to work with the rest. The top is a wide wisp if printed silk with delicate snaps to hold it at the neck once it is slipped over the head. Tiny snaps and threads sit at each shoulder to hold what you choose to wear under it in place. Each "sleeve" is cut like a loose kimono sleeve and you can tie these at the wrist or let the stay loose and fluttery. The skirt flows to the floor and balances the top perfectly. An amazing, once in a life-time find! Excellent, seemingly unworn condition
The skirt is fully lined in a soft peach silk and closes with a side zipper and flat hook & eye and fabric covered snaps at the waist. The poncho top is unlined, with small snaps to close at the neck. No label but the fabric is clearly signed throughout and there is no doubt that is is a Hanae Mori

There is nothing quite as sexy as these fantastic seventies halter dresses that pretty much leave the back bare. Everything on this one works perfectly together. Constructed from a subtly textured bark cloth, the fabric is soft and easy to wear and it allows the color screened onto it to be bright and vibrant. The actual cut of this dress is actually quite simple - the sleeveless, deep V fronted halterneck bodice skims over the bust and then nips in at the waist. The full length skirt flares out into the perfect cut A-line. But turn around and the back has been scooped away almost entirely. The bold palette used to create that wonderful floral inspired design is fantastic. Excellent condition! Item# D437
An amazing and hard to find 1970s silk twill & knit Hermes sweater! That brilliant silk front is unmistakeably Hermes with its bright equestrian motif. The knit is a deep navy and is very fine, soft wool. It is the perfect combination of refinement and in your face luxury! Skinny sleeves and a looser body make it the perfect, versatile topper. It is stunning and in excellent condition! Item# S344
This Holly Harp is that perfect little throw on dress for when you have an afternoon event or casual dinner - it would even work for some offices paired with the right accessories or with a jacket slung over your shoulders. The print is a pretty floral that is set onto a deep green base - the combination is just the right amount of color and has a soft feminine feel. Made of a light silk chiffon that drapes beautifully. The fabric choice gives those fabulous tiers lots of movement and drape. The body of the dress falls in a loose tunic style cut that hides any figure flaws with ease and makes the dress insanely comfortable to wear. The front has a V plunge and the sleeve flutter over each shoulder. These little dresses were signature pieces of hers and wear well and look great Excellent condition.

What a fantastic pop of color! I love Holly Harp pieces - they always have this cool girl seventies rocker chic feel to them. You can just imagine the original fabulous girl that threw these on with great abandon. The dress is cut long and lean† with no defined waist until you cinch it in with the belt. This makes it really easy to wear. It buttons all the way form top to bottom so you can leave some buttons open for a flash of leg if you wish. It has nice detailing across the shoulders. It is really all about the color so is once again right on trend. The label is her early lace label. Excellent condition
Insanely fabulous, I Magnin sweater in a fantastic combination of yellow and grey! This was the silhouette of the seventies and this topping a maxi or midi skirt, or a wide legged trouser was all the rage! In incredible condition it has a ribbed skinny fit waist, with that same ribbing at the cuff as well. Over this is a loose fitting, deep V striping whose sleeves are cut deep into the waist! Its the perfect pairing of cool and seventies chic. Excellent condition!
This dress is so adorable in person it makes me happy to just look at it. Plus, it had the added bonus of having the coveted, earliest Janice Wainwright at Forty Seven Poland Street label. Pieces with this label are from the beginning of her career and for me, really showcase her talent and are among the very best of her work. This pretty little bohemian spirited dress is made of a black polyester chiffon and simply slips over the head to wear. The waist is elastic to allow you to do this and the cut above and below the waist is simple and easy. The bodice has a pretty plunge front and loose fit through the bust and pleated ruffled finishes on each little wide cut sleeve. Her signature embroidery abounds with a good deal of the front, shoulder and back covered with embroidered flowers. The skirt is swingy and has that same pleated ruffle finish circling the hem. It's just wonderful and could well be off the runway of this very season. A fantastic and versatile piece. Excellent, museum quality condition!

This dress is stunning. It is from Jean Muir and incorporates her love of using leather touches within her designs - you often see this in her earlier pieces. The base fabric is made from a slinky, matte black jersey that gives the dress a bias cut feel when on and makes it very comfortable to wear. The skirt is dropped and gathered into the low seam with soft pleats. This gives it fullness and movement and also has a nod to the flapper dresses of the twenties. The bodice is cut to skim over the bust and waist in a loose and easy fit. I love how the collar is squared off and panels of black leather define both the collar and shoulder. bands of leather wrap right over and around each shoulder and down and around the arm. On each cuff leather is used again to define the wide sleeves. It is fantastic and one of the best Muir's I have had. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a back zipper. At the back neck is an elaborate wired frog knot closure. Hidden snaps are set under the leather at the top of the neck in addition to the frog knot.

I Have a Question
Jean Varon launched his label in 1960 and by 1965 already one of his dresses won him the ‘Dress of The Year’ title. His work in the 1970s was softer and more romantic in feel but he still used amazing fabrics and did some work in exploring drape and bias cuts.
This dress is made from a beautiful yellow silk feeling synthetic crepe that has a pretty and romantic floral design worked directly into the fabric. The soft pink and greens of the flowers is the perfect contrast tot he pretty and fresh feeling yellow backdrop. The construction of this dress is very interesting. It is all bias cut with a strong nod to 1930s lingerie in how it is cut. It floats over the body with an extremely deep plunge at both the front and back. It is literally cut to the waist seem on both sides. You see the nod to the classic angled seams of the thirties but taken to the high extreme. The sleeves are equally dramatic and each also starts at the waist seam so that a wide dolman feel is created from the waist and shoulder and then they narrow down dramatically at the buttoned cuff. The skirt falls to the floor from the waist seam with another dramatic finish there as well - a sky high slit runs up the center The dress is cut to flow over the body and never feel very tight but still highlights every curve. You could add a wide belt to give even more curves if you wished. It is beautiful. Excellent condition
Unlined with a low set zipper at the back starting at the base of the plunge. The bias and loose cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes and it could easily be altered for the perfect fit on a smaller frame. The waist has no stretch. It is tagged a vintage UK14, US12, FR42. The elastic that runs through the plunge feels like it has loosened ever the years. It should be tightened to work foe the girl that buys it so I have priced it anticipating that you will do this.

Jean Louis is the infamous designer who created that dress that Marilyn Monroe was said to have been sewn into when she sang Happy Birthday to JFK. He worked in the movies before starting his own label and its easy to see the sexy starlet influence in this dress. It's a definite statement maker and everything about it screams red carpet and sex. Liquid, draped golden toffee colored silk knit jersey drapes to perfection in this wrapped gown. It is cut on the bias so wraps and drapes to follow your every curve. The skirt is long and lean and the top blouses over. The wrapped styling allows the entire front ot look like you could step out of the dress at any moment but it is designed to stay in place. A mile long sash in the same fabric and with 13" pf silk fringe can be wrapped and ties a million ways - the styling possibilities are endless. It's all old Hollywood meets Studio 54, refined elegance, sexiness and class. Mint condition.
The fabric is so soft - it is made of a soft, light flannel cotton that is like a baby Tee! The cut has a definite prairie feel to it with its tiny floral pattern and little ruffle detailing on the shoulders. It has a pretty dip in the front and has an attached loop at the front just under that dip for the tie that you can wrap to add some definition. I love that you can wear it that way or very loose and smock style! A pretty ruffled finish runs around the hem! Very pretty. Excellent condition.
Unlined and slips on, Each cuff buttons ot close with a fabric covered buttons. The fabric is very soft, like a baby Tee and parts of the pattern seem more faded but I feel that this is deliberate - even if it is not it adds to its appeal in my opinion

Glorious nylon gown by the great John Kloss who was an Ossie Clark contemporary and did mainly lingerie pieces with a few draped goddess jersey gowns thrown in for good measure. I love his work. Its simple yet always with a drop dead sexy twist and he deliberately chose good weight and quality nylons that held the color well and would drape exactly as he wished. This gown is a startling tangerine coral and is that drop dead sexy without really revealing much more then decolletage and shoulders. The skirting has yards and yards of fabric and cascades out from an elastic empire waist. The bust and shoulders are tiny scoops of fabric and are meant to cover and tantalize. Its semi sheer but could be worn out with nude undergarments or clever styling. Truly a beauty and in fantastic condition!
This late 1970s, early 1980s typifies the movement towards clothes that were easy to wear and had a sportswear meets runway feel to them. Made of a soft light cotton poly mix the dress feels fantastic on and is one of those slip on and go pieces that will work year round. It is full of amazing, but subtle Koos touches. Bits of contrasting print are worked through the design - the more closely you look at the piece the better it gets! I love the piped borders of a stiffened cotton dot ribbon - it adds just a hint of structure and a definite visual interest. The skirt is soft and flows out from the elastic waist. The bodice is cut long so it can be draped above an added belt to the waist can be worn lower on the hips for a more hippie feel. The collar buttons so you can change the feel by having them closed or leaving some (or all) open. Excellent condition. Item# DD923
These jumpsuit from the La Mendola label are among my very favorites of all of their pieces. They have such style and fit so fabulously that I feel they are a must have in a vintage wardrobe. The La Mendola label is highly collectible and was sought after, not only now but also back in its heyday. The duo behind the label were designing in Rome for "It girls" like Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth and countless other celebrities and jet-setters. They were located in Italy and their atelier closed in 1974 giving us a date on this set just prior to that. They mainly produced long dresses in this same silk jersey fabric, but also did small runs of these chic and easy-to-wear jumpsuits. The simplicity of the cut belies the huge drama and impact that it has once on the body. This one is made from a bright, custom designed print, in shades of citrus screened onto the silk jersey of the jumpsuit and also onto the silk chiffon over-lay. The jumpsuit has a high neck, wide legs and a simple cut through the bodice and sleeves and just slips on and zips. Over this is goes a silk chiffon tabard that snaps into place along the top of one shoulder and under the arm. Together the are absolutely beautiful. Overall excellent condition with two tiny flaws to note below.
Unlined and closes at the back with a hand set painted metal zipper. There is no label but this is absolutely a La Mendola as I have had this exact same print with a label in the past and similar jumpsuit sets. There is a teeny tiny area of thinning to the silk on the tabard that sits low at the front. It is strong and stable and you really have to look for it while it's laid out flat. At the back of one leg at the hem there is a bit of discoloration and a small, faint water stain - again you see it when laid out but once on its not something you notice when its on.

I am having a little hippie chic bohemian moment so forgive me the indulgence of sharing it with you. There is just something about these late 60s, early 70s hand made, soft as butter leathers that just feel right at the moment. The Char label is one of the best and has a cult like following and I have a couple of really unusual pieces to share. This one is a fantastic vest hand-dyed to a deep rust color - you can imagine the dye came from the deserts themselves! Primarily made of deer skin and it is whipstitched down the sides and where there are seams. The collor is very unusual - I have never seen lace worked int a Char piece before - and it also has cut outs backed by hand painted leather! Char made these pieces, by hand from approx 1968 - about 1975-76 in Mexico. Some of the best leather craftsman in the world were there at the time and the piece made are fantastic. Unusual and fantastic and in excellent condition.
This beauty is from Leonard Paris a label that was a contemporary of Pucci. Leonard dresses tend to be the softer, more draped version of this look. This one is a delicious combination of vivid turquoise (much brighter then pictured) and brght pink, mixed with shots of greens and purples. The photos really do not do the colors on this dress justice! It is cut on a generous A-line and the skirt flares out with lots of fabric in it for movement. It is almost caftan style in the cut. It comes with its original printed belt whose ends both end with logo engraved gold metal. I love the simple collared neckline and the contrasting panel of design that finishes the cuffs, neckline and hem. It is super easy to wear and to travel with and the cut if very flattering anf forgiving on a variety of sizes! Excellent condition

Very chic and easy to wear dress with a definitive caftan influence despite its shorter cut. The fabric is absolutely lovely - it is a black silk chiffon with a gold stripe running through it. What is remarkable it that the entire upper portion of the dress has been formed into vertical, flat knife pleats and this is done so that each pleat's edge falls exactly along the edge of the striping. It is all so perfectly lined up that you don't even really notice this until it is on your hands and you realize that is how it is constructed. Just below the waist they release and that is how the fuller lower portion of the dress is created. The sleeves are left just above the wrist and they are cut wide and straight. It is very light weight as it is i lined in a very fine silk chiffon and a dream to wear. Excellent condition.
Fully lined with a nude chiffon through the upper bodice and a black chiffon through the skirt. The sleeves are left unlined. It closes with a button at the back of the neck and then there is an open slit to just above the waist with three more buttons set there.

A gorgeous silk organza maxi dress with an amazing print that has bits of gold thread worked through it! The bodice is fitted with long sleeves and a high neckline. The skirt flows to the floor from the waist with lots of beautiful fabric in it. The pattern is subtle but with those pretty pops of coral to highlight the flowers of the print. I love the bit of gold that is woven through the fabric. It really allows the light to catch it as you move for a subtle nit of glitz. When on it is light and easy to wear but there is weight to it at the same time because of the metal ring detailing that is done around the neck and the waist. These rings are carried down each side of the hip as well. Each is secured like a little doorknocker to a gold metallic thread braiding. It gives the dress a nice polished and finished feel and a little extra detailing that works! Excellent condition

There are two rings missing - one near the zipper and one right at the back near the side seam. Because of the placement of the rings you don't notice this at all when it is on. It is only mentioned for accuracy.

This is a fabulous and brilliantly printed nylon dress that can go from beach to cocktails to dancing! Made from a French nylon it has the most amazing and bright floral print on a black base. If you have not encountered a piece in this fabric before - think high end swimsuit fabric! Great late seventies, early eighties Lapidus dress that marries the glitzy Studio 54 effect with the craze for menswear through the great velvet accented tuxedo feeling collar. The dress is made of a black silk chiffon with metallic black threading woven through the fabric in a snakeskin pattern. It is cut loose and easy and has a matching fabric belt so you can cinch in the waist The front buttons entirely open so it can be made to plunge or show as much leg as you wish. I love the contrast the matte back collar gives. Subtle yet striking and would be amazing to style - endless possibilities! Excellent condition. Item# DD850
I love Donald Brooks pieces and I love this fantastic one shoulder maxi dress from the seventies in its fantastic combination of white, navy and a brilliant green. Made of a slinky, fluid jersey it cascades form the one shoulder in a myriad of stripes and fabulousness. The stripes take a bot of an angular turn as the cross over the bust and each panel widens as it nears the floor. Its supermodel length and there is an astonishing amount of fabric in the body and skirt. The fabric is light weight enough that it falls perfectly when you are standing still and does not seem bulky, but the second you move (or twirl across a dance floor) the amount of fabric becomes apparent, Stunning and flattering - those stripes will make you look a mile long! An absolutely beautiful, stunning late 1970s, silk gown by Oscar de la Renta! This is a true beauty and is in mint condition! The bodice is draped and gathered at each side. A gathered bit of silk is attached to one side and swoops up and over the neckline to create a goddess like one shoulder silhouette. The skirt falls to the ground in a perfect sheath of silk. The fabric used is of the finest quality - think a heavier weight silk that has the feel of a Hermes scarf. I love the multi color leaf print that is scattered top to bottom of the gown - it gives it a light airy feel while not taking away form the refinement and classic feel of the piece. A really chic gown that presents even better in person! Excellent condition
Bust: to 17" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: 13" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Hips: to 20" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 10" from top of bodice to waist seam
Skirt length: 38" from waist seam to bottom hem
The dress is fully lined - a yellow silky rayon was used through the skirt and a silk organza backs the bodice. The bodice has a full corset/bra built in. This could be removed to give you more room and a less structured fit if needed. It closes with a back painted metal zipper and hook & eye. Hand finished. Note the color is more of a marigold tone then the true yellow as photoed. It is richer and deeper.

This is one of the most sought after Ossie Clark designs and it is easy to see why! This version has been done in a fantastic purple moss crepe and wraps and ties. It is all cut on the bias so the movement is amazing when it is one. I love the sexy plunge the front creates and the saucy little tie at the neck. The waist is cinched in and the skirt flares to the ground in that perfect way that only Ossie did. This one is tiny - it is really too small for the mannequin - I cheated the tie at the waist - on a girl this fits properly it would not be quite as open down the front (but close). It is a super great price because it is not perfect (please take the time to read the full description below), however it is still completely wearable still so I think the girl who grabs it will still be super happy! It is afterall, an iconic design and this is about 1/2 or less what it would be priced if it were flawless!
Shoulders: 14" across
Bust: approx 16.5" flat across the back side seam to side seam
Waist: 12" flat across side seam to side seam - you can adjust this up or down about an inch
Hips: open
Bodice: 13" from shoulder to bottom of waist band
Skirt: 45' from bottom of waist band to hem
The dress is unlined wraps and ties to close, It has a snaps at the waist to hold as well. It was a little small on the mannequin so will not be as open at the front on a girl it fits properly. It is not perfect but still wearable. There is a slight change in the color here and there and some slight sheen marks from over-ironing at some point. See pictures but be assured that it is all pretty even. Still a great dress!! There is a repair that looks to have been done sometime ago to fix a tear from a heel about mid way up the back of the skirt. It looks horrid from the inside and passable from the outside. The folds and fullness of the skirt make it so that it not† huge issue when actually one.

A spectacular metallic threaded gown by the great American designer Pauline Trigere! This is an extraordinary piece that beautifully combines cut and exquisite fabric. Made of tissue thin, almost weightless silk chiffon that has that spectacular dots of gold lame thread woven though the silk. From top to bottom fine gold thread gives it a subtle shimmer when you move. It has a plunged front with interesting seam work and the sleeves are narrowed in at the cuff and are fuller near the shoulder! The skirt is beautifully full and flows to the floor. A matching light silk chiffon jacket can be worn with the gown if you wish. A muted pastel hued pattern is screened onto the gown from head to toe. Excellent, seemingly unworn condition. Item# DD916
I Have a Question
Pierre Balmain began his career at Molyneux where he worked part-time until 1936. After a brief stint serving he moved to the house of Lucian Lelong. He eventually made the leap to independence and is first show was held on October 12th, 1945 at his salon in rue Francois 1er.
This caftan dress is a beautiful example of the work being produced for the RTW label during this time period. The silk that the dress is made out of is a fine, printed Thai silk. In the 1970s some of the best silks to be found on the planet was coming out of Thailand. The colors are still as bright and true as they would have been the day it was made. The dress has the easy to wear cut of a caftan with it wide sleeves and generous cut through the body. The sleeves are cut shorter and then widen out as they near their cuff. The cuffs are detailed with rows of slightly padded top stitching to add structure and texture. That same padded quilting technique is used to detail the collar and neckline at the front where a series of silk covered buttons and loops allow you to button it up for a high neck or leave open for a bit of skin to show. The print is brilliant and that wonderful floral print has been done using bright primary colors to cover the entire dress top to bottom. Excellent overall condition with one item to note in the condition description below.

Gorgeous bias cut confection in pink by Lilli Diamond is the perfect dress for the season. The color is a true strong pink - it looks more raspberry here but it is indeed pink! The skirt is cut on the bias and made from feather light chiffon so it flows and drapes wonderfully. There is quite a bit of fabric in the skirt so you get a great Grecian goddess feel to it. The Goddess reference is even stronger when you get to the top - it's a one shoulder that drapes perfectly down one arm. The top is covered with a scatter of little round faux pearls that are sewn on in a tighter pattern as you near the top of the shoulder. Such a pretty finishing touch! Really wonderful piece! Excellent condition!
I love this floating confection of a dress made from† the most amazing pinky coral metallic thread shot silk chiffon! Really a stunning fabric that is as light as air and moves perfectly! A nude silk chiffon base has two shade of metallic thread worked into it. The entire bodice is also backed in the same metallic coral and gold as the sash so you get this very subtle shimmer effect through the nude overlay.† The sleeves are left unlined and each buttons at the wrist so you get a soft billow effect. I love the how the back buttons all the way to the waist and that the skirt is a full to the ground maxi. The sash belt is miles long so you can wrap it or allow it to hang to the floor and the shimmer and sparkle perfectly compliments the design in the fabric. It feels slightly more nude in tone and softer then how it has photoed - very romantic! A really gorgeous piece from a great American designer. In excellent condition.
This is a lovely and dramatic maxi dress by Paganne. I adore Paganne dresses - the prints and designs are fantastic and the fabrics they used make them super easy to wear and travel with - no wrinkle worries! This one is a fabulous combination of pinks and chocolates and has a striking, stylized Geisha girl print that runs all down the front and the back as well. I love that the base of the dress is where all the brighter pops of color has been used - it draws the eye down and allows you to look longer and leaner with the darker colors through the torso. The top portion of this one is fantastic - it's a modified halter with wide straps and an edging of design that emphasizes the overall design. Excellent condition. Item# DD385
Insanely fabulous, cropped lame thread sweater in a fantastic combination of pink, silver and charcoal grey! This was the silhouette of the seventies and this topping a maxi or midi skirt, or a wide legged trouser was all the rage! In incredible condition it has a ribbed skinny fit waist, with that same ribbing at the collar and each cuff of the elbow length, puffed sleeve. Each sleeve has pink striping worked into it! Its the perfect pairing of cool and seventies chic. Excellent condition!
I absolutely adore this dress. It is a classic blue and white stripe and is shockingly modern. The skirt is fairly full and flows out from an almost empire waist. The fabric used is a semi sheer cotton mix so it has this wonderful light airy feel but is not so on the cotton side as to feel like a casual piece. There is a band that circles the waist and then the front plunges in a deep V with wide billowy sleeves that have no side seams - they just flow out from that V into stunning puffed creations with a fitted 5.5" buttoned cuff. The back is equally as dramatic - it too plunges low and wide leaving an expanse of skin showing. A flower and bow sit at the base of the plunge in that classic feminine Beene touch. I was told that this was a runway piece and I would say that is not hard to see! Excellent condition.
Fully lined through the skirt in a semi sheer white organza. The bust is unlined but has two built in cups so you do not have to wear an undergarment. It close with a series of fabric covered buttons and a low back zipper. The flower on the front is original though it could be removed easily if you want a cleaner look.

Though I do come across Jeff Banks tops here and there his dresses are a little harder to find so having one is always a treat. This particular one has a real forties feel to it that I love, something the Brits during this time period loved doing. It is made of a silky rayon and has a pretty fine floral print that runs over its surface. The cut is very flattering and feminine with a pretty dipped and curving bodice and V back. This tops a waist that is cinched with seaming and skims over the torso, opening to a fuller swing style skirt. I love how he used different color fabrics that are all subtle variations of the floral print to add detail and contrast to the upper bodice. It is just quite simply put a pretty little dress. Excellent condition
