The twin of this dress and coat set walked the runway for the Fall 2000 Haute Couture collection as Look 17. The runway version was in a different colour but it was otherwise the same. The set is incredibly beautiful and chic once on the body. True Haute Couture pieces by Karl for Chanel are so very rare and hard to come by. It is an extraordinary find. This is an historically important example of the work that Karl was doing for Chanel during this time period.

Having both the coat and dress in this set makes it so versatile since you can mix and match with things you already own and wear them in so many different ways. The set is made from a deep coral pink and moss green coloured variation of the signature Chanel boucle. From a distance the colours combine to give it a more rust coloured feel but as you get closer you do see the two distinctive colours. The edges are finished with a fringe made of the two different colours. The fringe follows the edges on the coat and circles each cuff. On the dress it runs all the way around the hem. The dress is cut in the sleek and simple shift that skims over the body and flares out slightly as it nears the hem. Subtle seams shape the dress around you. It is hand lined in a deep green silk. The jacket slips over that with light handmade shoulder pads for a shape and  the sleeves are long. The shape is created with meticulous seaming set on curving lines. A hook and eye sits at the top of the neck. From there a ruffle runs all the way to the hem. The jacket is also lined in a deep green silk and there is a signature Chanel chain set around the inner hem. It is exceptional. Completely made by hand to Haute Couture standards. Excellent condition.

Both the dress and the jacket are fully lined in a deep green silk. The dress closes with a back hidden set zipper. The jacket has a hook and eye at the top of the neck. The weft – woven horizontally – gives the fabric its unique character and can have an unlimited number of threads. Tight, perforated, textured, thick, with a relief, plaited, random, twill… the potential number of effects is endless". This technique gives you that classic Chanel look.

The twin of this dress walk the runway for the Fall 2001 Chanel show. The show title was "Coco Pop" and part of the show had references to pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. There were also beautiful pieces that worked in the Chanel logo, chains and flowers and you can see on this dress that when you look closely at the sequin pattern that runs down the front they actually form the famous Chanel Camellia flower. I love having the reference photos and video for you so you can see how gorgeous this is once on the body.

Everything about this dress has that chic Chanel feel that makes many of Karl's designs feel like forever classics. Even without the fact that its twin walked the runway show, the dress feels very Chanel. It is beautiful in person and the simple lines and cut make it the kind of dress that you can wear multiple times while the styling and accessories you choose to add can make it feel different each time. It combines a flat pile cotton velvet backed in silk for the body of the dress and then the front panels have a nude silk backing and the lace overlay with a sequin finish. I love the texture and interest that this combination gives the dress. It has just enough weight to hold the intended shape beautifully. It is strapless with boning inside to help to hold the dress in place around you. The waist is shaped and brought in but there is no seam going across the dress to break the eye. From there, it skims over the hips and widens out to the hem. I love how the back is cut slightly longer than the front so you get that beautiful line behind you. The front lace panel is divided into two sections. The one that goes over the bust is done on a curve with sequins outlining its edges. Sequin Camellia flowers sit on the lace and are made from a variety of muted metallic sequins. Another curving edged panel runs all the way to the hem below the waist and again we see beautiful flowers done over the lace. They are concentrated more towards the top area and then start to disappear as they reach the hem. There is a little mother of pearl and black logo piece that sits on the side of the waist with the Chanel logo embossed on the mother-of-pearl plate. Just to ensure that you know it is indeed Chanel. It is an exceptional piece of Chanel. Excellent condition

Fully lined in a black silk and the lace panels have another layer of nude coloured silk between that and the lace. The inner bodice is boned and made of a lingerie stretch net. An inner waist hooks to close and the dress closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. Tagged a vintage Chanel 40. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

This is the second time that I have had this dress in the shop and I love it even more now. Three versions of this dress in this print were presented on the Fall 2000 runway that season. The twin of this one was worn by Trish Goff. Vogue's review of the collection states in part; 'Fall 2000 was, overall, the season of the lady. One who had polish—and, likely, two homes and one eye on the fluctuating stock market. “With the Dow Jones and Nasdaq soaring and plunging like a late-sixties hemline,” wrote Sally Singer in Vogue, “it was perhaps inevitable that many designers would choose for fall 2000 to forgo fantasy and get back to basics—luxe basics, that is.” I think this was one of the best dresses in that collection and I am very pleased to have it again.

The dress is a stunning example of the work that Lagerfeld was doing during this time period. It has an easy sexy feel to it. It feels like the kind of dress that you just throw on and walk out the door in and feel fabulous. The silk chiffon is feather light and has an amazing print in pinks and purple that covers the entire surface. The fabric is draped and gathered over the body to create the very feminine silhouette that you see. There is an inner purple lining that goes to just below the hip so that the silk has something to attach to, and the dress is opaque enough to wear. Over that the silk is gathered in soft sweeps around the body. There is a curved panel of fabric attached along one hip that drapes down and around the hips and then another panel attached at the top that drapes over one shoulder and that you can wear straight down and over the top of your arm. Because all of the panels are unlined you get this interesting play on the overlapping of the pattern. The skirt that falls beneath where the lining ends has a touch if transparency that gives a glimpse of the shape of the leg underneath. It is cut on an angle to further play on the asymmetrical feel of the dress and slit up one side of the skirt. This means that when you walk and move the slightest bit of air catches that layer of chiffon and it moves beautifully around you. The famous double C logo is worked through the print for the perfect finishing touch. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a purple silk chiffon through the body of the dress and closes with a hidden set side zipper. Light boning on either side of the bust. Tagged a vintage Chanel 40. Because it is bias cut the length will come up once it is on.

For the Cruise 2012 Karl booked the entire Hotel du Cap in Eden Roc on the French Riviera so that he had it at his full disposal for the show. This is remarkable in that it is arguably one of the most expensive hotels in the entire world. The show is also of note because he accessorized all the pieces with real diamonds and pearls. Vogue noted that he said "too much may not be enough" when asked about this extravagance. The twin of the suit walked the runway for Look 8 and was adorned with diamonds on the pockets and at the neck. It was sent to the shop with a beautiful crystal rhinestone and faux pearl button at the top of the neck and left to the clients to add their own personal diamonds.

This collection was a nod to old-school glamour and you can see that in the beautiful lines of the suit. It is constructed from an absolutely stunning ivory version of the Chanel signature boucle fabric. The weave is very tight and it is one single ivory colour. It has little bits of silver thread woven through it. These glitter in the light in this very subtle and beautiful kind of way. I know the still photos are not properly capturing it but in person it is magical. The collar is soft and rounded with a raw finish to its edges and then it is covered with the tiniest possible ivory sequins. He added another band of sequins under the collar to circle the inner shoulders near the neckline. A little jewelled clasp sits at the top of the neck that has crystal rhinestones and large faux pearls with the double C logo on their sides. I love the nod to the 1940s this little jewelled detail has and how it picks up on that old Hollywood glamour theme. The sleeves end at about the wrist depending on the length of your arms. The jacket has a beautiful curving seam at the front and two top set pockets. I photoed the jacket open as it was shown on the runway but there is one single little hidden snap so that you can close the jacket more if you wished. A second curved seam sits at the back. The construction is absolutely beautiful. Inside it has a Camellia flower embossed silk lining and a silver chain is hand sewn along the inner hem. The skirt is as beautifully cut as the jacket. It has a curved band around the waist and pockets on either side of the hip. It curves out to skim over the hips and then comes in at the bottom. There is a wide 7" band of the same fabric circling the bottom hem. He added a back vent that has three beautiful buttons and you could open those if you wished. The set comes with the matching belt that you see on the runway. The belt follows the same curve of the waist band. It hooks in place and it is completely covered on both sides with more of those tiny little ivory iridescent sequins. This is an exceptional Chanel. It would make a great bridal piece for the bride not looking for something traditional or as a piece for an event surrounding the ceremony. Excellent condition.

The jacket is fully lined in an ivory silk embossed with the Chanel camellia flower print and has a clasp at the neck and a hidden set snap halfway down. The skirt is lined in an ivory silk and closes with a hidden set zipper. The belt hooks to close. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. All three pieces are tagged a Chanel 38. The very subtle bit of metallic silver thread that runs with through the boucle is more apparent in person.

Well sourcing the collection for this dress we found an example in 1988 that felt close but I think it is most likely from the Fall of 1991. He showed several of these dresses with jackets over them at the end of that show and this feels more similar to those. You can also see the similarity in the one that we had that was worn by that Olivia Culpo. This feels like it's younger sassier sister. We have included reference photos from both collections here and either way, it is an absolutely fabulous little black dress. It is incredible and very sexy.

The dress is strapless with a pretty bodice that curves up at the front and down slightly at the back. It is boned and shaped to curve around the bust at the front and then hug the body to the waist. The exterior is made of a black silk and it has a little lace ribbon all around the upper edge for a little romantic touch. The skirt is made from two layers of a fine black netting that has a very smooth to the touch feel. The layers give you touch of transparency and you can see this in the 1991 show that this was deliberate. He meant it to be worn over an undergarment and tights that gives you some coverage and just have the transparency that shows your entire leg. If that does not work for you, you could easily add something underneath to lessen the transparency that the skirt has. It zips to close at the back and I love how you can see that the zipper has been hand set. The inner lining is also handset and it is just a beautiful example of how well these little dresses are made from Chanel. Especially in these early years of the Karl era. Excellent condition.

The twin of this jacket walk the fall 2005 run runway for look 27. The collection was titled 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' and the Alexander McQueen site said of this collection: 'For the second time in his career, Alexander McQueen references The Birds for this collection a film that he remembers loving as a child principally because of the precise way in which the women featured choose to dress. Against a film-set backdrop flooded with red light models stride out in swing coats, pencil skirts, neat, cropped trousers and fitted chunky mohair all of which suit a modern-day Hitchcock heroine down to the ground' and Vogue's review stated 'Tippi Hedren and Marilyn Monroe. Biker molls and sweater girls. You got it: Alexander McQueen went to the sixties, all the way, for fall.... His combined knowledge of Savile Row tailoring and Parisian couture means he can scissor an impeccably narrow grey tweed coat or a nipped-waist pencil skirt suit, and put sizzle into period sobriety.'  I actually have two of these for sale today and they are the identical size and condition. It is an incredible opportunity for two lucky people to get this gorgeous piece.

This jacket is fantastic and it is such a unique and easy piece to wear and mix in with things you already own. I love that it can feel more dressy and be a strong statement piece if it is styled like how it was on the runway, but it is also a piece you can throw over jeans. It is made out of a virgin fleeced wool and this gives it a beautiful soft blanket like feel. All of the edges are stitched with yarn to further play on that blanket feel and the edges are finished in fringes. It wraps and buttons into place and comes with a wide hand stitched belt that you can tie and cinch in the waist with. Each sleeve is incredibly wide and the shawl collar is very full. It is full enough that you could actually bring it up and over your head like a hood if you wished. Excellent condition with a note below.

Each jacket is unlined and buttons to close at and below the waist. There are inner straps that hold the jacket in place. Both pieces are a size 42. Both pieces show slight yellowing on the inner muslin part of straps that go around the arms inside the jacket. I see a tiny little repair on the arm of one jacket and on the belt of the other. Very minor. The cut is loose and easy and you can use the belt to cinch it in if you are smaller. They are meant to feel more oversized.

This is the runway piece from 2005 and the bead work on it was entirely done by hand by one of the same European ateliers who did beading for many of the Couture houses for this time period. It's modern Providence includes being worn by supermodel Daria Strokous to the 30th amfAR Gala, which also lets you see how gorgeous this is once on the body. In 1972 John won the Coty Award and then he won it again in 1976. Striking evening wear like this became his signature. His work is very expensive and beaded pieces like this sold for over $20,000 and more during this time period. This comes directly from his archives and is a dress that you will never see again since it is the only one that exists.

This dress is absolutely stunning. The fabric is completely covered in thousand of tiny deep silver seed beads and iridescent aqua coloured sequins. This gives the dress some weight - we weighed it and it is just over 6 pounds - but it is so beautifully made that it balances and glides over the body perfectly once on. The front plunges right to the waist with two long triangles curving up towards the neck and hooking at the back. A ruffle from the same fabric follows the plunging neckline all the way to the waist to soften the feel of that plunge. The back is left completely open for a bare expanse of skin to show when you turn around. I love the the way the sides curved down to the back. The waist is brought in and then it curls back out over the hips. From there the skirt falls to the floor widening out as it near the hem. This give it beautiful movement when you walk and move. The colour is this magical deep aqua and silver mix and the way the beads and sequins are set give it a stunning pattern over you. No matter what angle you see the dress from it catches the light fantastically. Excellent condition.

Unlined and closes with a low set side zipper at the back and hooks to close behind the neck. Hand finished throughout with hand, applied beads and sequins. Silk chiffon panel finished hem and edges. Made to Couture standards.

The Valentino Roma label launched in 2000 to take the place of the Miss V line. It was sold at a price point that was a bit more accessible then their main line and was meant to be available in more shops then the main line would be. The pieces were still very well made. This one caught my eye simply because of how gorgeous and sexy it is. It is a stunning dress with a beautiful amount of detailing on it. 

I love this dress with its amazing use of that gorgeous pale turquoise silk chiffon. These super light silk chiffons are always an incredibly difficult fabric to work with and Mr Valentino and his team were masters at it. The silk is so light that if not for the belt that dress would be almost weightless. The front panels of the dress are vertically pleated from the top of the neck line to the waist to give it a bit of a bib/ tuxedo front feel. It curves down at the sides and goes around to the low back. This leaves the entire back bare and open. At the front the fabric is split from the neckline all the way to the waist so you get this flash of skin. The fabric drapes over the waist line on my dress form a bit and I think that depending on how long you are through the body it might not do that once on because my dress form is a bit short through the body. The shape though the waist is created by a seam that sits across the front of the pleating. I love that it comes with a matching belt. The buckle of the belt is a bronze toned metal and it depicts snakes twining around each other in an open circle. Under the waist seam at the front, a little bit of a peplum extends over the front of the skirt. This little panel has that same pleated technique as the panels above it. I love how he only used this at the front and the back stays sleek and simple. Under that the dress cascades to the floor in many yards of feather light silk chiffon. This is where the dress gets truly magical. At the front it falls in a fairly sleek column that widen out as near the hem. Then at the back there is an inset panel of gathered fabric in the same colour that creates a sweeping train behind you. This panel extends out past the floor and it is fantastic. This is a stunning dress. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition with a minor note below.

This Roberto Cavalli dress is from the Spring 2006 collection and is gorgeous. Its twin walked the runway that season and I am happy to have the runway shots of it and video so you can see how spectacular this dress moves when on the body. This was Look 36 and I think it was one of the most beautiful dresses of that collection. And it was certainly one of the most daring. You don't realize at first glance but the front plunges down and the back has a second unexpected opening that is quite low and exposes a flash of bare skin. It is exceptional and very sensual.

The dress is made out of a bias cut silk chiffon that has a gorgeous print work through it surface to create flowers. This is done in a combination of pale turquoise and a soft greens on an ivory backdrop. The front plunges quite low but the severity of the plunge is completely softened by the mass of ruffles that cascades around the neckline. The plunge is caught up by a large flower in the paler blue and then it is open a little bit more under that. When it is on the body, the lower opening is barely apparent because of the way the dress sits on the body, but it is there. The little capped sleeves are lovely and very full. They fall over the upper arm and are soft and wide cut. The dress skims over the body and is brought in just a touch around the waist by a combination of that flower and how it is seamed. At the back there is another long opening that begins at the back of the neck and runs to the very low back. You can see on the runway how this curves a bit once it is on the body. At the base of that opening there are attached ties that extend out to create a pretty little bow. You could also leave them untied and let them just cascade behind you. The skirt falls down from there to the floor and it is cut a little longer at the back so that you get a sweeping bit of a train that extends past the hem. I love how the layers in the skirt create this pretty ruffled feel. It also gives the skirt tremendous movement around you. When you move the entire dress seems to float perfectly around you. All of the silk is bias cut which allows the dress to fall like an absolute dream over the body. It is spectacular. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition.

Unlined and slips on to wear with a hidden snap behind the flower at the front. The dress lost its label during the cleaning process but the fabric is signed throughout. The bias cut will allow for a lot of give in the measurements and I have put the comfortable range below.

Shoulders: no defined seams
Bust: 17-21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 11-15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 16-20.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: 68" from neck to front hem and 73" to the back hem. The length will come up a bit once on because of the bias cut.
