This dress is far from perfect but it is an incredible vintage textile and is still wearable with care. This was probably made by Chinese artisans for the Western market and is an incredible example of the work being done during this period. I have seen a few of these older pieces but this one is especially special as it is all done by hand. It has the classic lines of a Cheongsam and is made out of a fine pink silk. It wraps and closes with frog knots and antique buttons down one side and up to the neck. The collar is high and the work on it is extraordinary. The pattern is a mix of hand applied sequins, that I believe are gelatin, and incredible embroidery work that has been all done by hand. The colours and designs are like wearing a piece of art. The set has lots of light overall damage. I see fading, missing sequins, fraying and shattering here and there, some marks... and yet it is still a thing of absolute beauty. Buy it knowing it is flawed but a true piece of history and beauty. 

Fully lined in a cotton muslin and closes at the side. The buttons are all present but some of the frog knots heat snapped. there is overall light damage throughout as described above and I had added quite a few photos so that it is fairly represented. Sold as found and has not been cleaned so that no further damage would be caused.

They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Here's how deposits work on a standard layaway:

  • We require three equal payments of the layaway total. You will be invoiced for the first amount upon request
  • payment two of the remaining balance will be billed two weeks from the date of the initial deposit.
  • The final payment is due two weeks after the second payment and shipping will be billed on this invoice as well.
  • items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
