Darling 1970s Hand Knit Multi-Color Floral Sweater
This sweater is fabulous and it is a wonderful example of the knitwear that was coming out of countries like Germany for the tourist market from the 50s to the 70s. It is completely hand made and I love the floral design that is worked through the knit down the front and curving around the back. It also trails down each sleeve with heavy braided borders surrounding the floral design. The knit through the body is nubby and both the flowers and braiding are raised so has an extra dimension to it. The sleeves narrow as they reach the wrist and I love the cap on each shoulder. Little wood buttons are the perfect arts and crafts finish. Knits like this are showing extremely strong on the Prada, Miu Miu and Gucci runways this season and finding an original that can easily stand up to any of the newer pieces is a find. - items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
