1970s Unlabeled Gold Lame Thread Butterfly Caftan on Pink Organza
This lovely piece from the 1960s is done in a combination of a pink organza that has a metallic gold lurex thread that has been applied to the organza. The gold thread is done to create huge butterflies and this flit over the entire surface of the dress from top to bottom. The gold catches the light beautifully and really adds detailing to the piece. The fact that it is a butterfly print just adds to its fabulous factor to me. The cut is simple but dramatic and fully covers the body. The neck is high with a small neat collar. The sleeves are long and cut with a flare shaped finish that I love. The skirt mimics that same shape, flaring out and widening as it flows to the floor. It zips up the front under a notched collar with allows you to wear it over just about anything. The fabric choice gives the dress a touch of structure so it holds the shape. This is an easy to wear, but glamorous summer dress. Excellent condition.
Unlined and is partially transparent. It closes with a front hidden set metal & nylon zipper. The organza feels synthetic. Note that in person the pink feels a little more prominent and is a touch brighter and more a true deep pink.
