1970s Bill Blass Dramatic Pink & Purple Ruffled Bow Silk Dress

This is the second time I have had a version of this dress in the shop and it is just as good this time around. This one is also a larger size which is not always easy to find in vintage. It is made from a high grade silk satin that combines a vivid pink with a deep and regal purple color. A huge pink bow rises above one shoulder in the most dramatic way. This appears to anchor a wide sash that wraps around the bodice to the back - enveloping the wearer like a beautiful package. The 'tail' of the bow extends down the side of the gown in an extravagant pink ruffle from the bust right down tot he hem. It is like wearing a piece of art and at the same time it acts as a clever way to make the wearer appear even taller and leaner then she is. The other shoulder is left completely bare for the perfect balance to that ruffled drama on the other side. A built in foundation sits inside the bust for support. This inner construction is lightly boned and shaped to act almost as a banding so that the dress falls straight down from the bust and has only the suggestion of nipping in at the waist. It is extraordinary and amazing. Very beautiful in person. Excellent condition

Fully lined in a deep purple silk. It closes with a inner zipper and waist stay just under the bust and a second exterior hidden set zipper. Lightly boned through the inner bodice. Note that you could have the inner bodice re-worked and this would give you another couple of inches to work with if needed. Also note for those who use me as a general idea of fit that this dress is clipped on me for the photos.
