1970s Blue Silk Cashmere Halston Maxi
These long cashmere silk knit dresses were a Halston staple and were designed for that chic modern woman to wear while entertaining at home or in an intimate setting. The wearer was able to move and be superbly comfortable, never worrying about getting wrinkled or being inappropriate or uncomfortable. Really these were his signature piece and every chic woman had to have one. It was meant to be a maxi dress and works wonderfully as that as well but buy knowing you could also use it as a coat as it does unbutton all the way open! An amazing soft blue, it is a cashmere silk mix that has perhaps a touch of a fine wool - a signature fabric of Halston. The color is amazing - more of a soft version of the blue than what has photoed and I love the subtle bit of a white undertone that runs through it. The original belt is still present and I love love love the immense amount of fabric that runs through the skirt - it gives it an almost greatcoat/gown feel! Versatile and beautiful, it is an amazing and rare piece of fashion history and in excellent condition.
Unlined and buttons down the front to close and then ties with the matching knit sash. Hand-loomed fabric that is a mix of silk and cashmere with perhaps a touch of wool. There are a few of pinholes on the top part of the fabric near the hem. It is so long and has so much fabric that they do not show at all when worn nor do they detract from this rare piece. Each cuff has a button to close.
