1950s Ruffled Silk Chiffon Helen Rose

An amazing, deceptively simple silk chiffon dress from the great and collectible Helen Rose. Her pieces are rare and they tend to be beautifully made and exceptionally beautiful. She really knew how to make a girls body look the best it could. This dress is made of layers of silk chiffon over a good weight silk lining. This makes it very light weight and yet the combination of types of silk allows it to me very constructed. The bodice is simple with tiny straps - I love the little bows that sit at the base of each strap! The waist nips in and the skirt is fitted perfection - gliding over the hips till it ends in the explosion of black silk chiffon ruffles all around the hem. This gives the dress an unexpected bit of movement to the otherwise structured silhouette and the choice of fabric is romantic and soft. Really an outstanding piece in excellent condition!

Bust: 18" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Hips: 19" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 15" from shoulder to waist seam
Skirt: 25" from waist seam to bottom hem

Fully lined in black silk, it closes at the back with a painted metal zipper. The tie belt is attached and is made of a matching fabric. The inside construction is amazing with a attached grosgrain ribbon that hooks around the waistline inside so the dress sits perfectly.

  • items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
