• The twin of this dress walk the runway for the Spring 1988 show.
• Made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan for Christian Dior.
• The evening portion of the collection focused on short dresses that had a corseted waist and bust with wrapping techniques that gave the feel of a sarong. The dress is a wonderful example of that feel he was after and it is fantastic.
• We found a teeny slice of it or a very similar piece on the runway and even though the photo shows the model on an angle, it does give you an idea of how wonderful this will be on the body.
• This would have been made completely by hand in the Paris atelier.
• The fabric of this dress is fantastic. It is made out of a black silk organza that has been gathered so it has a slight 3D puffed effect. This creates an incredible texture over the dress.
• The fabric is light in weight and despite the elaborate construction of the dress is not at all heavy once it is on.
• Inside the dress has a full proper corset with boning through the bodice to give you some support and built in cups. A wide grosgrain ribbon hooks in place around the inner waist to hold everything perfectly in place.
• All of the seams are finished by hand and it is really is a nod back to the early couture days in terms of it's construction.
• The bodice is cut with a curving sweetheart neckline and it is meant to hug the body. It is elaborately gathered and fitted around the bust with all of the gathered folds coming in to the seams that run over the bodice. This is all done to emphasize your curves and it make the dress very flattering once on.
• It nips in at the waist and there is a large and elaborate bow that sets at the base of an angle seem coming from the bust. I love how this is set to curve around the hip to the back. It instantly adds to the hourglass field the dress has.
• From under the bow, the skirt curves down and over with to wrap around you and then come back in and under that panel to give it that wrapped sarong feel.
• Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a side set zipper. The interior of the bodice is boned and cupped for support. The inner corset closes with its own zipper and a wide band on the interior waist hooks to close. There is a tiny bit of lightening to some of the edges on the fabric. This is a natural aging of this type of fabric and I don't consider it to be a flaw, but it is mentioned for accuracy. It otherwise appears to have never been worn, or worn very little.

• The twin of this dress walked the Fall 2005 runway for Look 51.
• Made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• The dress has all of the elaborate over the top details that you would expect from a Galliano runway piece.
• The bodice of the dress is elaborately pleated. The black silk jersey that it is made out of has been draped and gathered into a V at the front that is edged in velvet. The rest of the bodice is made from a silk with stiffened ribbon shown on the exterior all the way around. This sits over an inner corseted and cupped bodice.
• Straps connect to a silver D ring at the centre of the neckline and then they curve up and over your shoulders and attach at the sides of the back. On the runway, they were gathered so they appear more narrow, but you can also wear them to create a little almost capped cape feel like I have shown here. I love that you have the versatility of wearing it either way. 
• The waist is seamed and a cord finished with little Dior embossed clips runs through the waist and allows you cinch it in as needed.
• The skirt falls from under there in a beautiful bias cut. The entire top portion of the hip is gathered into elaborate panels to pick up on the box all the way around you. The skirt falls from there and widen out as it near the hem. An oversized and elongated pocket is top stitched onto one side and elaborate velvet, sequin and net flowers sweep over the entire skirt.
  
• The upper back is left bare and I love that little curving peak that he has added there for extra detail.
  
• Fully lined with an inner silk skirt and a fill built-in silk cupped and boned inner corset bodice. It zips to close with a hidden set zipper.

• Its twin walked the runway for Look 43 for the Cruise 2011 Dior show. 
  
• Made under the creative direction of John Galliano
• The show was shown in Shanghai that season and Galliano chose not to do very specific references to Shanghai. He said at the time that he was more trying to "capture the feeling of Paris in its heyday" which was what he said he felt happening in Shanghai at that time.
• This was an outstanding look in the show and was one in a series of the closing looks.
• The dress is made of a deep muted pink silk chiffon and has nod to the 1960s in its design.
• A layer of silk chiffon that is heavily detailed with hand, beading, sequins and prong set pink rhinestones floats over a inner more fitted silk interior. The neckline is scooped wide across and then the back dips into a shallow V.
• The sleeves are a single layer of the chiffon and flare out at their ends. They are detailed all the way down to match the bodice.
• The interior dress closes with a hidden side set zipper and then the silk top layer that floats over it snaps along the edge of the waist at the back. A little strap floats across to connect the two sides and there is a highly detailed bow that sits off side at the back topping a gathering f the silk in the skirt.
• Another highly detailed bow sits at the centre of the front waist and I love how these two bows give the dress such a feminine and romantic touch.
• The dress falls from there to the floor with a top layer of chiffon floating over an inner silk skirt. It widen out just a touch at the hem.
• The inner silk portion of the dress has its own lining of a matching silk.
• The pink is a slightly different shade in person than how it photoed
• There is no size tag present so please reference the measurements below. It is slim fitting through the hips.

• This exceptional dress is by Marc Bohan for Christian Dior and it is a wonderful example of his work during this time period.
• This best matches the work that he was doing from about 1969 to 1972 when he was doing these wonderful dresses. We found a similar one to this with variations on the print that this dress has and I have included it so that you can see how perfectly this will drape and fall on the body.
• It is a very easy and comfortable dress to wear
• The dress is made from a cotton that has a pretty floral print that covers the entire dress.
• The neckline is set high and detailed with a black cotton collar that extends down the front and buttons to about the waist area.
• Under that the bodice is meant to skim over you to fall loose and easy over the natural waist and then the skirt billows out from under that to the floor.
• The sleeves are set into the shoulder with slight gathers and they have a more full cut that balloons out over the wrists. At their ends they are edged with that same black fabric that sits around the collar and this extends out and tie into pretty bows around the wrist. 
• The dress comes with its matching tie belt in the same fabric so you can wear it loose and easy or cinch in the waist for shape.
• Once on the body the entire dress has this stunning movement and yet feels minimalist and elegant.
  
• Unlined and slips over the head to wear. The front buttons up to about the waist and each sleeve ties with attached ties. The belt is original to the dress.
• Tagged a vintage Dior 12 and the easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

•  Made from a muted red silk crepe chiffon that has a little bit of texture to it
• Wide straps curve up and around the neck and then extend into panels that cover your front and wrap around to the back.
• The neckline has a bit of a plunge at the front and the entire upper back is left bare.
• The silk is gathered down the front of the dress and is held in place by little horizontal ruffles of the same silk chiffon. The pleat work narrows down to a point at the waist. 
• The silk of the skirt is gathered up and into the centre point of the bodice and I love the extra detail this creates. The bottom skirt is quite full and widens out as it nears the hem.
• There is a slit that runs up the top layer of the skirt and this helps to creates beautiful movement as you walk. 
• Buttons are spaced down the side in his signature tightly spaced fabric covered buttons and loops and these hide a hidden set zipper.

• The amazing dress is from the Spring 1987 collection and is based on an earlier Haute Couture version that is very similar. We have included the runway photo and the editorial photos we have found for you to see how amazing the dress is on the body. 
• Made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
• There is extensive documentation on this dress and it is amazing on the body. A true showstopper.
• The dress is made from a black silk faille and this choice in fabric gives the dress its structure and shape. It also allows for the volume that you see in the phenomenal back bow.
• The bodice is strapless and cut to curve across the front. It is lightly boned on the inside for a built in shape that shapes your form to it.
• It curves in to skim over the waist and curves back out for the hips. From there it falls past the hips and then ends at a mini length. It is cut slightly longer at the back and I love how there is a matching dip at the back of the bodice so that there is an illusion of added length created.
• That dramatic bow at the back is the star of the show on this one. It runs the full length side to side and extends just a bit past each side. It is attached in place at the back of the bow, and then the front is gathered so that it sits off the body for a little bit of added volume. The ties that trail down from the bow are very wide and fall all the way to the floor and past depending on your height.
• This also creates fantastic movement as you walk away. It is fabulous.
• Fully lined in a black cotton muslin and closes with a side set zipper. It is lightly boned through the bodice and shaped. An inner waist stay hooks to close.
• Tagged a 42

• While sourcing the collection for this dress we found an example in 1988 that felt close but I think it is most likely from the Fall of 1991. He showed several of these dresses with jackets over them at the end of that show and this feels more similar to those. You can also see the similarity in the one that we had that was worn by that Olivia Culpo. This feels like its younger sister. We have included reference photos from both collections here and either way, it is an absolutely fabulous little black dress. 
• Made under the creative Direction of Karl Lagerfeld
• It is incredible and very sexy.
• The dress is strapless with a pretty bodice that curves up at the front and down slightly at the back. It is boned and shaped to curve around the bust at the front and then hug the body to the waist.
• The exterior is made of a black silk and it has a little lace ribbon all around the upper edge for a little romantic touch.
• The skirt is made from two layers of a fine black netting that has a very smooth to the touch feel. The layers give you touch of transparency and you can see this in the 1991 show that this was deliberate.
• He meant it to be worn over an undergarment and tights that gives you some coverage and just have the transparency that shows your entire leg. 
• It zips to close at the back and I love how you can see that the zipper has been hand set. The inner lining is also handset and it is just a beautiful example of how well these little dresses are made from Chanel.
• Lined in a handset silk through the bodice and closes with a back, hand set zipper. There is a stay in place around the waist that hooks to close.
• Tagged a vintage Chanel 38.

• Mary McFadden patented her Fortuny inspired pleating technique just a couple of years after launching her label in 1973.
• By the eighties she had many licensing agreements and her dresses were being made on a larger scale. Mary was known to say frequently that there was no greater beauty than pleated cloth on the human body and she said then when she developed her 'marii' fabric her aim was to have it 'fall like liquid gold on the body, like Chinese silk.' 
• Once on this looks like a true dress but it is actually a separate top and skirt. I love that because it means that you can mix and match the pieces with other things you already own.
• Both pieces are made from a beautiful green silk feeling synthetic that has been pleated in McFadden's signature pleating technique.
  
• The top slips over the head to wear and is cut in an easy one shoulder silhouette. Is cut wide and open through the body and then you use the matching belt to cinch it in around you. The hem of the top is set on an angle and I love the effect this creates once it is layered over the skirt.
• The skirt falls to the floor from the elastic waist and I love how the bottom hem has a slightly ruffled feel. This picks up on the same slightly ruffled feel of the hem of the top.
• I also love that the skirt is cut very long which is a rare thing to find in her work. As she progressed in her career she preferred to design pieces that ended at the ankle so you could see the shoe underneath so the full length pieces are a bit rarer.
• The set comes with its original extra extra long braided belt that was another of Mary's signatures. This one is spectacular with a thick braided finish and long dangling ends. These are really what gave her pieces such impact.
• Both pieces are unlined and slip on to wear. The waist has elastic so is an easy fit. The belt is original to the dress and is just over eleven and a half feet long.
• Tagged a vintage McFadden Medium. The cut is loose and easy but could still be worn on a smaller frame because of the belt that you can cinch the top in with. The fabric has a lot of stretch. One small mark on the belt.

• Arnold Scassi launched  his boutique line in 1984 and it was high end ready-to-wear and very expensive.
• Arnold Scaasi was born Arnold Isaacs in Montreal and the name Scassi is simply his own surname in reverse. He studied in Montreal and in Paris, apprenticed at the house of Paquin and then worked with the legendary Charles James. In 1964 he opened own couture salon.
• The sleeved version of this dress walk the runway for the Fall 1987 collection. It's very rare to find documentation from this time period and I love having that say that you can see how amazing it is on. I think this strapless one is even better.
• You can easily see the influence of Arnold having worked for Charles James in this piece. The lines are dramatic and yet elegant. 
• The dress is strapless and the top portion of the dress is made from an inky black velvet. It is dramatically shaped at the front with wired peaks and a V plunge at the front. 
• It nips in at the waist and then angles down from one side low on the hip on the other. On the side that sits higher up, there is a large bow detail that gives the effect of holding all the gathers of the skirt in place.
• The skirt is set under that and the long angling seam on the opposite hip adds visual length to the dress as it extends down and into a deep point. The skirt is quite full and the shape and volume that you see is held by the inner construction which is quite amazing.
• Layers of tulle netting set underneath the outermost layer of silk. The green of the skirt is a true brilliant emerald. This unexpected shock of colour is fantastic.
• Fully lined in a green silky rayon. The bodice is lightly boned and it closes with a hidden set side zipper. Built in stiff tulle under skirts and the skirt is interlined in a green organza. 
• There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
